9 weeks on Tuesday for my hols .......................... or 66 days from today ............................ not counting though. :D

Messed up with the beef also ....................... it was lamb. :o

Forgot, but we do have mice, another little one caught last night!!
Their "Last Supper" tonight is half a malteser.

gailey - also forgot, loved that "risked the fresh meatballs" line. Made me smile and laugh. I know what you mean though, I've still got some Tesco mini burgers I'm scared to try. Eat some a while back (pre-scare), but could I swallow them again??

    Sorry for any typos. :p

Just 2 HM muffins coming out of the freezer tonight.
We had HM wedges with mushy peas, Cornish sardine and grated carrot/red onion in mayonnaise for dinner.

  • Evening all, hope you are all well. Lynsey the mice love chocolate, if you have any chocolate spread that works even better. A couple of years ago when it was a really bad winter my youngest dd went to the toilet we used to stay in a little cottage, she was at the toilet and all I heard was a scream and her coming through with her trousers round about her ankles, there was a mouse in the bathroom she was saying I heard this little noise and I looked down and there it was staring at me !!!, I quickly ran through and closed the door phoned oh told him he would have to come home and set a trap, he said I can't come home right now you'll have to set it I told him straight no way, I got oldest dd to set it. Caught the same night just swell because I can't handle mice.

Gailey, I think you're best to try weekly shopping, I am in a similar situation to you 3kids and oh paid monthly. I have tried doing monthly shopping but it never worked for me in fact I spent more I believe. I normally only go shopping on a Saturday as I don't drive, oh my taxi driver!!. I try to stick with lidl and home bargains and Costco every now and again for marg, cranberry juice and some other bits. My kids and other half take pack lunches except for an occasional Friday youngest dd will have school dinner. I would say for the first shop just go and get everything you need for exactly one week, think before hand what you think you'll need for dinners/pack lunches and buy it. This will tell you realistically what you need to spend. Then the following week do the same but you might have some left overs like pasta etc so you could buy say another bag of pasta or two extra tins of soup/fruit and put it away and build up a little store cupboard to yourself gradually. I did my shopping today and it came to £53, but other half had put some bits in for himself which I wouldn't normally buy, that should last me now until next Saturday. You're doing a great job and you'll work out a system which works best for you :-) .

Well food today was brunch fry up thing, dinner was filled baguettes as everyone was still full with a massive side salad.

Will catch up tomorrow and oh my it's been freezing here the last few days, even a sprinkle of snow.
  • Gone completely of track this month. Need to add up this weeks shopping but is definitely over budget. Some is because of a birthday, half term and not feeling very good.

And also having two cars break down in 2 days. Most worrying DH needs a car to start new job on Monday. Went from 2 cars to none overnight. Only one car fatal tho.

Will try and re-group tomorrow and rein it in for the rest of the on. Might need to tweak the system!

canspendnomore ouch fatal car sounds expensive and a poorly one on top

just trying my mother lives way in the country and she has gotten 86 mice in her loft and garage and they seem to like toffees.. not as much as they like peanuts for the birds though.

Lynsey there are more germs on the average keyboard than on a loo. I use cotton buds and sanitiser or Dettox type stuff on mine or even Mr Sheen.

Florenceem I spy a pilchard on your plate, supermarkets are calling them Cornish sardines these days to sound posh. ;)

Hi donnajt hi Jelly B

Sessie you'll have to stay off the pork scratchings too ;)

No Ocado order today so extra NSD :j

Must confess I am in the doghouse ATM for frying my second Vaio, this time 24 days after the warranty expired. :o

Only another week tho hopefully before new one turns up and then I can quit posting using OH's rescue laptop (freebie from work cos as you'll have noticed it has keyboard issues). It's a Dell, I dunno whether to rename it Dale, Fido or Rover. ;)

Anyway IT guys at his office are going to try and recover the contents of my hard drive, I really want the pix of my Pa and dawg. :(

As soon as my new Vaio arrives I will be :j:D:T:):happyhear_party_ as then I can get working on my website about.. food.. what else ? ;)

We were bad ad just kinda snacked on houmous and crispbread and grapes and soup today. So OUT of cupboard Heinz org cream of tomato soup and Lyksands crispbread.

Morning all, quite a bit of snow here!!

Sessie - welcome to the thread and good luck. I like your spirit.

donnajt - wishes to you, good that things are improving.

gailey - I'm not really "couponing" at the minute, though did get some free Cushelle and just printed off a few for Sainsbury's later. I'll pick up again, probably after March. Not much I need, but beach is getting low!!
I'm trying to save this year and not buy as much - goes against "what I preach" - but I have enough just now.
£100 p/w is a lot, we used to spend £40+ per week and used to have a little "game" to see if we could spend less than £20 in a week. A bit more knowledge now I assume, so with couponing and buying right (including reduced stuff, heavily reduced stuff), £25 average p/w is doable. Prices are creeping up, so those bargains need maxxing.
This has been a bigger week spending wise than planned and that's down to TCB "snap and save" - though with the cashback taken off, it will still be a reasonable week.

Been out to Lidl and got some diced beef and bits, Asda for the Walker's "freebies" (TCB) and bought hubby some hazelnut milk to try (£1).

Took out some beef to make pot roast (thought it was lamb!!). That's for tomorrow.
Had egg sandwich and naan bread pizza's later.
So bits out of the freezer, but diced beef going back in.

NSD yesterday, but only one for the week!! Tot up later.

Have you looked at shopitize & Quidco click snap as many of the offers from tcb over lap so some things end up completely free.

The Quidco click snap is free from the £5 yearly charge so you get all your money back.

I haven't been keeping up with you girls recently & have noticed that my meal planning & freezer list has gone out the window so am going to spend this afternoon doing a list & meal planning through to next half term.

Afternoon all, Edwardia they do like peanut butter also caught quite a few using that, I don't like them at all. At our old cottage you could hear them in the walls and in the loft, all part of living in the country I suppose.

Food today was cereal or as oh said rabbit food !!, lunch is pork with loads of veg and Yorkshire puddings nearly ready. Might go out a run in the car later and probably have scrambled eggs or soup later in the evening.

Lovely day here the sun is shining oldest daughter said it was snowing this morning, catch up later.

    Evening all.

biscuitmad - I used to be a member of Quidco, but closed my account a few years back. Sick of seeing how some of my family got ripped off by them and the amount of declines!! I tried a few other cashback sites, but only use TCB now. Saves £5 per year and at least 1% more cashback. Obvious advantages though if you can submit the same receipt twice. Problem being, I'd have to give the first £5 away and feel like I'd be working for them!!
I've never looked at shopitize yet, but will. Do they charge??

Spend a little today, but picked up some cheap veg (mainly potatoes), some salmon en croute and a packet of pea and mint tortellini - bargain at £3.07 for the lot.
I spent £9.72 yesterday and that took the week to a MASSIVE £29.87. lol
I did buy a lot of "snap and save" stuff x 2, so nearer £20 with the cashback off. Counting the full price as money not coming off like coupons, though I can cash in as almost instant. More money for the savings pot.
See what the new offers this week bring.

Had the lamb and lovely. Some to finish for myself tomorrow, hubby is having that tortellini (not for me).

2013 spends to date now £152.59.

I'm trying to do the £10 week, so just under £7 left. Only really milk and fresh stuff needed.
If TCB have anything good, then I'll have to keep that separate or fail. I don't want to miss the bargains.

Missed a mouse last night, the trap snapped but no mouse!! The little b***er got half a malteser though. Payback time tonight, squashed a little Mars Bar into the trap for it's "Last Supper". Chances are there is a nest somewhere and too cold to sort the garage out.
