I think we need to see photographic evidence of such a bold claim:rotfl:
    Seriously, though, that's a great effort:T

    Evening all.

Jellybaby - hope things pick up for you, but empty freezer?? WOW
I did well in January, but seems static since!!

I gave the omelette a miss and ended up having just a large plate of roast veg. I'll have eggs tomorrow, probably scrambled.

Just £3 spent today on food in Sainsbury's - 4 pints 1% milk for £1 and 2 packets of wine gums @ £1 per pack - should get 2 x 50p's back from TCB (slow tracking at the minute, probably due to demand).
Also got the Dove from Superdrug, so TCB pennies are mounting up.

Hubby's lost another 2lb, so 7lb lost so far.
He's after a BMI of 25 - started off at 27.3, but will be a struggle as he'd have to lose another 10lb'ish!!

Is jam part of 5 a day?? I wish!! What about "potato" crisps?? lol

Porridge tomorrow as plenty of milk now.

In to freezer today- tub of lo stuffing. Out of freezer today - tub of prawn curry, naan bread, Cornish sardines, 2 HM muffins and 2 slices HM cake.
Dinner was HM garlic wedges with roasted beetroot, red onion/white onion and some chicken kievs - found lurking in the freezer.

    Hi Jelly B....
If you get to like fruit leathers, look out for a food dehydrator. I got mine off eBay, brand new, half price at £25. I made 3kilos of semi sun dried tomatoes last week. They are so expensive in the shops and I just love them so you soon get your money back on the dehydrator. I've done apples and pears which turn out like crisps but taste of concentrated apple or pear. we eat them instead of sweets
I'm going to try blackcurrant fruit leather with some frozen blackcurrants I have. I'm also going to try carrots, parsnips, beetroot to see if I can make vegetable crisps a healthier version, instead of deep frying them. It is also cheaper to run than an oven with an open door, runs at 250watts per hr.

Gammon out of freezer, also some ice cream, nothing in but tomorrow must live on leftovers in fridge so as to not throw them away.

    Morning peeps.

Yesterday was a NSD.. on groceries. Ds had an accident at school, bust and scraped his nose and bumped and scraped his forehead so I bought him a skylander at £8 which cheered him up no end.

Went into the shop to pick up my chips and they didn't have any. Got told they wouldn't be getting any in and it was hard to get them anyway. So why did the same woman tell me she'd definitely get them for me? Annoying.

Tea ended up being a spanish smoked sauce which was supposed to be done with belly pork. I ended up doing a pork stir fry with it, used pork escalope that had been in the freezer yonks, added a shed load of tom sauce, green pepper, mushrooms and noodles. I put jerk sauce in mine too. Ended up being quite nice.

Ds has taken pack up of cous cous with feta cheese, tomato and cucumber. He loves feta cheese. I don't believe this BS about 97% of packed lunches being unhealthy. Especially when you compare them to school dinners and the puddings with those.

Tea tonight will be the chicken in breadcrumbs with beans and wedges. Something simple and comforting. Need to buy whole and skimmed milk today.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Im in awe at how little you spent on groceries lynsey how you do it? do you have freezer full of meat ad storecupboards full as £54 so far is amazing.

hubby underestimated how much in bank £50 cheque leared today but has some outgoings so have £15 to spend to last us until monday-payday.

So thinking brave cold walk 25mins to nearest lidls

but need to get nappies, milk bread and coffee in that.

so thinking buy some apples for kids
    tinned fruit
    maybe some potatoes, more eggs
    1chicken-could last 2-3meals.

had lovley turkey curry last night.
Dident get roiund to doing flapjacks or onion soup so still need to do those and make up round of jelly.

    Thinking hm pizza tonight maybe.

im bit bored of roasts and curries what else would you do with whole chicken?

made egg and cress sandwiches for hubbys lunch plus 2reduced sausage rolls so he wont starve.

have value tomato soup for 2younger ones for lunch.

All 3kids liked the tinned peaches so thinking tinned fruit way to go will check out lidls price v sainsburys basic as its opposite.

But i need to meal plan and write shopping list for next week.
also have to pay milkman feb bill monday as with added veg box, bacon cheese and eggs its quite high this month but worth it as good quality, supporting local and got us through last couple weeks.

    Morning all.

Lip_Stick - hope your little on is ok ................. but might fancy a little accident every week now. lol

Evidence of a mouse in the garage last night, but trap caught it quickly.
Got loads of bird seed in the garage, but it is clearly marked "Wild Bird Seed", so the mouse should have been no where near it!! :D

Lazy day today and just plodding along.
Last chance of a NSD for the week (none so far, thanks to TCB) as I'll be spending tomorrow.
    Not had porridge yet.

gailey - way passed £54 now I'm afraid.
    Nearer £154. lol
I haven't added up for the week yet.

Yes, I have 2 freezers with more than enough to last several months and cupboards are well stocked also.
I just need to tick-over with what I've got and £25 per week should be more than enough to get basics like bread, milk, fruit and veg etc.
You're in a different situation with kids, much, much harder and probably hared to get your "stash" built up.
HM pizzas sound nice, think I'll do some naan bread pizzas tomorrow - thanks for reminding.

    Hi all,

Newcomer to the thread though I've been "around these parts" a good while now.

I did an inventory of my freezer and kitchen food cupboards two weeks ago and have the list pinned up inside a cupboard in the kitchen. Am getting into the habit of deciding on a morning what we're having that night and getting it out to defrost. Since then, every meal (apart from one where hubby and I went to try a new local pub on our one child-free night of the week!) has been from stores (freezer/cupboards/fridge).

Normally we'd have been to the supermarket both of the last two weekends but we didn't go either time and have managed just fine! We do need some fresh stuff now (milk/bread/fruit) but I'm going to go to a local street nearby next Monday after the school run where there is a proper greengrocers and butchers etc... and a FarmFoods for the 2 loaves of bread for £1.50 and the 4 pint thingies of milk deals they do.

I think the main thing is staying away from the big supermarkets for as long as we can. Even if we only INTEND to get the things we need, it's just too easy to be tempted while we're there and a "milk, bread and grapes" run ends up costing £40!

I'm hoping to go to the T-word shop one night this week but ONLY for the reduced section as I've got a TON of tins of custard/rice pudding for pennies there recently and also breakfast cereals at stupidly cheap prices because the cardboard is torn. However, I'll only take a £10 note and no cards so I can't be tempted....

I've been batch cooking for a couple of years, really don't know why I didnt always keep a list of what was in the freezer rather than just rummaging around at 5pm panicking. Anyway, I'm converted now and richer for it!

Going to go fix myself salad lunch early using marinated Polish mushrooms and Swedish herring fillets from cupboard.

Riverford order this morning but no more shopping til Monday (Abel & Cole).
