Katscorner - I had a Chinese neighbour and her dictionary translated MSG as gourmet powder, which she said they used all the time. :(

hey recovering  Kraft Dinner now available in organic version without the tartrazine yellow from Amazon or with it from Ocado. I recall there was a red box version of KD in UK called Cheesy pasta but haven't seen it in ages. My cousins in Vancouver used to send me care packages of mac n cheese :D

Jelly B no it's not the same, the traditional balsamic is DOP and the cheaper commercial stuff is IGP but better than stuff without IGP. The IGP is matured for a shorter time. The bottle wasn't the same as the one in the photo.

zafiro1984 what you're really saying is that when it comes to stallions... size matters ;) Did I really write that I'm getting as bad as Lynsey :D xx

Welsh Poppy I feel for you, when I was a teenager my father gave up cigars and he got so unbearable that my mother threatened to feed him ground up cigars with milk for breakfast. He was determined to do it without patches but these days I think you can get them free from GP.
  • Tonight was pierogies and cabbage rolls from the freezer. Added in some sauteed kielbasa. The Collie taste tested and approved the sausage was fit for his humans.

My lot want KD for tomorrow night. I offered home made mac&cheese. I do a rather nice one with crumbled bacon, if I do say so myself. Hell, no they want KD and hotdogs! Might just have to do the frozen veg addition in retaliation
  • I can't wait to see your outcome whilst being on ww!
  • Well, have emptied all my cupboards and will be able to move food out of big freezer into little one (well most) as have been eating all sorts of mysterious stuff. Will also be able to take part in the cheap spend week, may even be a NSW. I am cheating though, the tinned/packs are in boxes all over the house, cupboards have been taken away and I will be spending the week with daughter and cousin whilst they completely remove kitchen, plaster and paint ready for new cupboards. I will be able to refill them then ;)))))
Am now going to see what fruit leathers are - as if I need them !!!!!!

    Morning all.

zafiro1984 - he's used it the first time this morning with his nut muesli and said he didn't notice any difference and thought it would have a stronger taste. This was Alpro as couldn't get the Blue Diamond unsweetened.

whmf00001 - well done on "emptying" the cupboards .................... even though you did cheat. lol
Try emptying your freezers and putting all the stuff in boxes. :D

Spent just £3.78 on the Tetley tea bags (using £2 clubcard coupon) and put 2 claims in with TCB, so another £2 cashback to come.

I just had toast again and out for lunch to Toby, so will be stuffed later. Hopeing to get the apples later and claim back the 25p's.

Had a right result yesterday, got 6 boxes of cornflakes for foodbank, hubby explained what they were for and lovely, lovely lady thanked us for donating and when we checked the receipt, she charged for just 2 boxes. No coincidence I think.
So only 62p spent for foodbank (tomorrow) and bulks it out a bit ........ I won't name the supermarket, but every little helps. ;)

TCB thingy may spoil the low spend week as I don't want to miss good ones!! Think I'll have to go for a virtual no-spend-week and see how the offers appear??

Well I've calmed down from yesterday.... a bit.

Afternoon all. Went to the market this morning and spent about £4. Bought 2 packs of ryvita, 2 packs of tic tacs, some fruit and veg and some weird sweet things which are like mini cornettos with pistachios and a pistachio cream in the centre. Really nice. They're supposed to be for ds' pack up. lol.

I think I tried hazelnut soya milk before and I thought it was disgusting.

Had pork pie with beetroot relish for lunch. No idea about tea. Might have warm puy lentil with salad and feta.

Just had a gas bill through for £120, which is better than this time last year. It was £175! But I have been trying to use less. Also had a phone bill for £10 more than normal due to the ex wittering on.

Anyway, so now I'm skint! Bring on the low spend week lol.

Jane... the way they treat people is shocking. I think they go for those most vulnerable. You get all these chavy lads hanging around, with one hand down their tracky bottoms, and the other holding a can of super strength cider, get away with not working for years.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

NSD for me but having commandeered OH's pound sign-less laptop I did buy 2 mugs, yet another hessian bag, my third ever fridge magnet, a rolling pin, wooden spoon and chopping board from Calon Wen, a Welsh organic dairy co-operative. One mug and the chopping board are for OH at work.
