Unlike florenceem I do have freezer and cupboard movements to declare this evening.. sustainable South African hake from freezer and ASDA org whole tinned toms from cupboard, for fish dish.
  • Hello all hope all are well!
Up for the £5 p/p for a week challenge- let me know when it starts!!

Managed to finish up a fish pie which has been in the freezer at least a year - relieved its gone as I have taken it out and back in through several times of defrosting the freezer! :rotfl:

Freezer now contains 4 packs of quorn (mince/chicken pieces) , 2 pies, 3 pints of milk, 3 bread rolls, 1/3 tub of ice cream (which isnt that nice .. not sure what else to do with it tho!) half a bag of frozen veg. Planning on making a big chilli/sheperds pie at the weekend and maybe pasta bake to use up some of the bits n bobs!

Will try and do a meal plan over the weekend still lots of sauces, tins of veg/beans/tomatoes, pasta, rice, noodles etc..

    Evening all.
Toby was good, but not great - some of the veg was on the cold side and they were very miserly with the meat!!

The TCB "snap and save" is becoming costly, though just need to cash the money in to get the true value.

Just Morries for shopping, but bought:
    2 x 1l Tropicana (£3), 2 x Jonagold apples (70p andn 64p = £1.34), reduced strawberries (55p) and two smoked haddock fillets (£1.09) = £5.98. Hopefully get 2 x £1 for Tropicana and 2 x 25p for apples, so £2.50 back and good for around £3.50 really.

Hubby tried a small glass of almond milk and actually stated it tastes like muesli - probably why he couldn't taste it with the muesli. lol

The haddock wasn't dyed and looked nice. I don't eat it, but hubby is thinking of a smoked haddock and sweetcorn chowder.

No meal plans for tomorrow as yet, decide tomorrow. Hopefully salmon from freezer for hubby. I might just have roast veg.

This cheap week is getting dearer by the day!!

    Been eclectic day of eating

Midddle child has free fruit/,,milk im preschool and took

    cheese sandwiches
    mini cocktail sausages

    surprisingly ate it all.

Cheese and onion wraps with discovery tortillas brought on offer for faittas.

Made bit huge pan of savory rice with mixed veg so thats all frozen mixed veg gone, still have rice

made some leftover sausages for snacks

never thought I say this but freezer finally meat/sausage free.

Since xmas sausages been reduced and now every ones sick of them!

Made leek and potato soup-freinds recipe as 2leeks in last weeks veg box from dairy-was a lifesaver that kept us going.
    It was surprisingly tasty.

Ran out energy to go get butter and eggs as had parents evening and gone very cold here.

Store cupboards now looking pretty sorry for themselves so will hit lidls sunday.

Everyone loally exited about new aldis.

    Tommorow plans are unknown

must but butter and think buy eggs.

will make onion soup for lunch

    possibly cakes or flapjacks
if cant get reduced bread will make a loaf.

will try younger 2 on porridge and jam also have golden syrup.

middle child nursery so fed brekkie, lunch and dinner and snacks so one less to worry about eldest will have to have boiled egg brekkie as currently have 3eggs and is school dinners and hubby chese and onion wraps again me thinks.

Decided as fab as it is making do cant keep bombing out of food.

we have to shop weekly set and budget and stick to it in our case £50 as we tend to eat like kings 1 week, 2nd 3rd week ok and week before payday can be dire and stressful.

We have decided as family to become part time veggie allowing us to eat better quality meat/poultry and fish.

    Morning all.

gailey - what did you spend that £2 on?? Hope it was on yourself for all your hard work.

My Lidl offer is diced beef, so may get a few packs to make pies (kidney in freezer needs using) - could be an expensive week. lol

Muesli and fruit for hubby, just toast for myself.
I'll have a cheese omelette later, hubby salmon.

Foodbank donation this afternoon and off to Superdrug for Dove body wash and another couple of TCB £1's. I might do the Maynard's wine gums also (£1 Sainsbury's) as I need milk today.

Morning all. Feeling shattered as I stayed up til 1:30 am watching the sony conference. :o Need to do some housework but feeling shattered. Haven't had much chance to get much done this week.

A woman has hopefully ordered some McCain Simply Gorgeous chips for me, so will pick them up today if they're in.

Last night I had a warm puy lentil salad with rocket, feta and tomato. Dinner today will be a sandwich. Not sure about tea, but it'll be something out the freezer. Maybe breaded chicken, beans and chips.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Lip_Stick - I know what you mean about the jobcentre plus (or whatever they call it now). I was made redundant 5 years ago after 15 years in a job I loved and I had to go and sign on. I have to say it wasn't too bad and after I had been on jobseekers for a while I decided to try and work for myself and was lucky to get some freelance work so I could claim tax credits again and it was fine. However just last year my best friend's business went bust and she and her husband both had to sign on and they were treated abominably. When they went to sign on one time the "adviser" told my friends OH -" If I was you mate I'd be thinking of taking a walk off the edge - there's nothing doing once you're over 45" He was soooo upset about it and I wanted him to complain as my friend had witnessed it but he wouldn't do anything. He had been a company director and had paid lots of tax and NI over the years but they treated him like a right scrounger - and all he and his wife got (it was a joint claim) was £105 a week between them! He has now started as a taxi driver because they told him he would lose his benefits if he didn't take it. Anyway enough off topic!!!

I just had the nicest tea that i've had for absolutely ages - I came in late (after 7) and so just got two slices of hm bread (stale) and cut off the crusts and cubed it and put it in a shallow pyrex dish, then I beat three eggs with about half a pint of milk and a bit of evap that was left over, some salt and pepper and a pinch of onion powder and poured it over the bread, and added a load of mature cheese that I had in the fridge which I grated. I left it to soak for about an hour and then cooked it in a lowish (160) oven for about 30 minutes until it was just set and crusty and brown on top. It was sooooo delicious and there is over half left for tomorrow - not sure how I will heat it up though?

DD ordered Dominos when I was out but she got the hot dog stuffed crust one and even she (who will eat any pizza) couldn't eat it - it was disgusting - I mean really really rank!! I am in two minds whether or not to ring up and say it was vile, but I expect I won't. The smell was even vile!

I have done a meal plan of sorts until the end of the month - I want to give up sweets for lent but it's not going well.....

Hope you are all okay - Edwardia - I wish you hadn't mentioned the Kraft Mac and Cheese - I LOVE it but haven't had it for years and now I can't stop thinking about it!! My scottish grandmother used to bring it down when she came to stay as apparantly "cheesey macaroni" was very popular up there. We used to be so excited when she came - my Mum's macaroni cheese was not so nice - she used to just put grated cheese through boiled pasta - no sauce and the cheese would go all globby ugh!

Well, off to watch the Great British Menu!!
Lipstick - my heart goes out to you - one of my biggest fears is having to sign on because I have never in my nearly 42 yerars heard anyone say anything positive about a JobCentre experience.

That pizza sounds revolting - who in their right mind came up with that concoction??? But your dinner sounds lush might copy that idea for lunch only have no stale bread only really fresh stuff...maybe leave a few slices on side so it goes hard
