You can often get the Alpro choc milk for 3 cartons for £1.
I've never had a problem with DS eating as such, always been fine. Stopped putting on as much weight once milk removed from diet. Still eating a good diet until he started school. Suddenly he doesnt like things always enjoyed like Brussels and other veg and some more spicy things. It's because the other children don't eat it! Also he's less open to trying new things.
I'm sure he'll be fine when he's older but as the Dietician has noticed that his weight has plateaued I'm very conscious of it now.0 -
I use my freezer for my 2 teenagers favourites - that they can put in the oven for 25 mins and its cooked - and veg.
Oh and the top shelf I use for icecream and the odd thing I fancy.
Just after Xmas I went down with a bug and the freezer did its bit!!
The kids lasted a week lol
Mum had the car (we share it) and there was no way she would have a clue what the kids like.
I think the best idea with a freezer is Only put in it what you like to eat and stock up on the bargains when you can.
I do also use it for extras - when i cook to freeze some.
At one pont I was running 2 freezers as my mum didn't have room for hers - however it was costing more to run the freezer than the food inside was worth so that stopped!0 -
Morning all. Blinking 'eck it's cold.
Just had sandwiches to eat yesterday, couldn't be bothered to cook. Today will be soup or something for lunch and pork and apple sausages for tea.
Dad phoned me yesterday, asking if I needed any shopping with the weather being bad (I noticed he rang me when mam is out lol). So, we're off to Lidl today. Ages since I've been to a lidl as one closed down near me.He's also bringing ds' sledge yayyy.
Going to have to buy veg like carrots and potatoes if we're doing the veggie challenge, need milk too, maybe a bit of bread. Bit unsure about this veggie challenge. Would have to get a lot in for it so may not do it.
canspendnomore - I was watching a programme about kids being fussy eaters. It said that the adult should be in charge of 'what' they eat, and but the child you be in charge of how 'much' they eat. That way there's no battles about getting them to eat enough, although you can encourage them to eat a bit more just not go mad about it lol. Also it allows the child to eat things they say the don't like.
I notice ds says he doesn't like something because his friends say the same. He ends up eating it anyway lol. He eats anything tho, and would rather eat his veg than his meat. Just wish I could get him to eat spicy stuff lol.
Jelly Biactol - I shall ask my dad about this 'thoil' word, see if he recognises it.
Edit - I've some tesco finest burgers in the freezer.... not sure I can eat them without feeling a little... off. :undecidedThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

My favourite vegetarian cookbook is "The Enchanted Brocolli Forest" by Mollie Katzen. It was written in the 80's and contains recipes from the Moosewood Collective restaurant in Syracuse New York. The!
Thank you for sharing this I have just bought it. I'm up for the challenge. And I will try to post a little more as I'm always taking other peoples hints tips. The problem is that I'm lazy, so I will try harder :beer:Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.0 -
Morning all, no more snow and hoping they are sharing it about.Edit - I've some tesco finest burgers in the freezer.... not sure I can eat them without feeling a little... off. :undecided
You will probably end up with the TROTS or with a BIT between your teeth.
Posted somewhere yesterday and removed I think?? But loads of jokes and hamburgers is an anagram of SHERGAR BUM.
Easy day, some gentle DIY and sorting a few things, but planned day indoors.
Bacon sandwich I think for breakfast (not had yet), snacks later and chicken dinner tonight. I have bread for today and will bake tomorrow or use part-bake rolls.
Stay warm.

Today we are having pasta bake with courgette and ton sauce and ham. Yummy! That's tea sorted. Lunch will be couscous with left over chicken and peas from the freezer. Thinking about making salmon fishcakes. Does anyone know if I can freeze homemade fishcakes? The salmon I bought is one of thise freezer packs and I'm not very keen on it so I thought if I put it in something that'd be okay. It's salmon, mashed pots and sweet pot with a bit of onion and dill. I've got loads of pots to use up and 4 bits of salmon. Morning Jak, I think you should be ok to freeze fishcakes, I havent made fishcakes for ages, might do that tomorrow.
Had toast for breakfast so another 1/2 a loaf gone from the freezer
Having soup for lunch so thats another tin gone from the cupboard! Mince and mash for tea tonight, so that will be the mince used up from the freezer.
Hope you all have a good day, stay warm!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -
Jak as long as you don't re-freeze uncooked salmon I think you'll be ok.
Lip_Stick I'm not sure I entirely understood what you were getting at. Being bit thick today as we had a very disturbed night with several nightmares!
Probably I wouldn't be thinking about DS weight if he weren't under Dietician. He's heavier than one of his friends, it's because she said about it I'm worrying about it! Probably in a panic over nothing. I think also I'm finding the milk free diet difficult to cater for so maybe there's a bit of guilt there. There just seems to be no easy meals anymore. I do like cooking but id like a break sometimes!0 -
Thanks guys. Well I've made salmon fishcakes which im going to freeze and ham cakes with the leftover ham from yesterday which we are going to have for tea with some beans. I'm feeling positive about using up my food now as the fishcakes will do at least 3 meals and ive got 6 tins of beans! (Mind you,I had 24 for ages...must stop mental shopping!) I've frozen the pasta sauce for veggie week. When are we doing it? Is it going to start Sat?
