evening all, managed to only spend £14.85 this week in morries, so still got about £30 left til the end of January, its possible I might just be ok!! I also had cleared some space in my freezer, but then went to mums to get my food that I had stored in their freezer! ;)
So I have made some good progress, and my freezer still isnt totally jammed full! My cupboards are looking a little emptier, so I am pleased with my progress. I just need to have a baking day either tomorrow or friday, some of which I will freeze, so will need the space!
Had fish for tea in various forms as we had odds and sods to use up, so half a pack of fish fingers now gone (kids had these), a piece of salmon that was yellow stickered (for hubby), and a fish in sauce for me, and we all had pasta with it.
2 rolls defrosting for tomorrows pack lunches, and will be using more bread for toast in the morning. We have been having cereal for the last few days, and only have the smallest amount left, which youngest son will probably finish in the morning.
Will probably have mince and mash for tea tomorrow, with carrots, sweetcorn and potatoes and maybe some hm yorkshire puds to bulk it out and then I should get a portion of mince for another meal!
    :)
    mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊

Edwardia - Can normal levels of carb intake affect cholesterol?? ie not compared to those overeating carbs or overweight I mean. I'm not going to try and risk eating more saturated fats to see what happens :D If anything I'd prefer to improve how I eat now more so even. I'm the only one with low cholesterol in my immediate family but whether that is diet or what who knows but I'm conscious it could go up.

Just had tofu stir fry again (still another portion for tomorrow eve).
Just got some hm bread out the freezer for breakfast tomorrow - will have marmite on toast.
Will get a portion of hm soup out too for lunch with more bread.

canspendnomore - I bought the choc soya milk for vegan month and was surprisingly nice. They also do soya choc mousses which are nice (£1 for 4 in Asda).

Yes DS loves the milkshakes. I just think it's not right that he have them all the time. If he wasn't milk intolerant I wouldn't dream of giving him chocolate milkshakes every day.

It's funny, since starting school he has refused more food than ever before. He is continually telling me he doesn't like that anymore. Driving me mad as he's bearly putting on weight as it is without him becoming fussy as well!

He can't live on fish and chips and jam tarts, can he?

^ Is it the school dinners not being very nice putting him off? I refused them throughout school and couldn't drink milk, never ate veg and got ill with lack of food (I liked) on every school trip! so plenty of time to change as I'm not that fussy now!

Evening all, no further snow ................. yet!!

Train on time and we popped into Wetherspoons [STRIKE]to top up on sugar[/STRIKE] for a few drinks (I had the coffee and hubby never made it). lol

Bought milk and hot cross buns in Sainsbury's and bits in Morries including some Wiltshire deli counter ham which I had and some left for tomorrow. Spent £3.09 there and £4.59 on the day.
Had a strange result with bananas - 2 bananas weighed (by the check out girl) @ just 0.005kg and went through free, yes 0.00?? Not sure what went wrong, but free bananas!!
Hubby had a biryani out of the freezer and took out a chicken crown thingy for tomorrow. If I hadn't bought the diced pork (3 packs), I would have had loads of freezer space.

Hoping for 2 NSD's now before shopping on Saturday. Might struggle on Friday though!!
Hubby has appointment about his cholesterol on Friday and probably wants to ask about the statins.

Ordered some stuff from Nestle Shop for 1st week in Feb, mostly for foodbank donation and a little bit for myself - so no NSD week then. lol

Treat myself to some house plants from Morries, some half-price and 1 full price one. Also got some heavy duty roasting trays from Sainsbury's @ 70% off - way OTT at full price though!!

2013 food spends = £28.03 and half-way so on track for the £60 month, but harder than last year!!

Im up for a challenge!! ;)
Need to reign in the spends to hit the £400 per quarter target!
Still eating up a lot of the YS things in the freezer from xmas!

Lysney - your bargainous spends put me to shame as usual! :rotfl:

Spaghetti on toast for tea tonight, but had to chuck half a loaf which was turning moldy doh!

That'll learn me to forward plan a bit more!

Kirri - tricky question.. firstly what's a *normal* amount of carbs. The human body can run on no carbs at all and use fats and traditional Inuit (Eskimo) diets would have been carb free with no ill effects. The Masai tribe in Kenya, eat meat, milk and (sorry Kirri) blood and again none of the diseases associated with the Western diet.

AFAIK there isn't a generally accepted definition of grams per day to be low carb but many people would say under 100g per day and most people not low carbing would eat way more than this.

A vegetarian diet may have less saturated fat but it can be quite high carb. A high carb diet will push up triglycerides and affect the relationship between the other stuff ie LDL and HDL so yeah she says (sorry for rambling on) though peeps might not think it, carbs do affect cholesterol.

If you're concerned about it, maybe talking to your GP would be a good idea ?

canspendnomore how about nabbing DS in a good mood on his own and saying as your mum I'm wanting to know why you don't want to eat (insert list) because you need lots of different sorts of nutrients from food to grow taller and stronger and build those muscles. See what he says..

Edwardia, def things for me to think about - drs are useless because I've had two low tests unlike the rest of the family, so they don't want to know till someone already has problems.. no preventative help!

I wouldn't mine some free bananas, Lynsey, lucky there! Think you have prob still spent less than me. I also want roughly £12 of shopping this week but that may be scuppered if it snows Friday..

Evening all, it's so cold outside they are saying it's going to be -10 tonight quite believe it. Katscorner, kids want more snow it's suppose to hit us on Friday and they are saying blizzards aswell, aslong as I get out on Saturday for a few bits I'm not bothered as I don't normally buy anything during the week from the local shop.

Ms_night_Ryder, I think I will be making the same meals as you I was thinking maybe homemade pizza swell if I do it.

Regarding the soya chocolate milk my dd used to drink it instead of normal milk she used to claim normal milk gave her a sore belly, think that was a bit of a story anyway they used to sell it in my local lidls but haven't seen it in a while may be worth a look, was about 60p.

Catch up tomorrow and stay warm everyone.
