I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Frogletina - I'd just half and half it with white flour for bread. I find it heavy going using it 100% in anything.
Hi Kerri
I don't mind 100% wholemeal bread - but I have enough flour for about another 6 loaves and enough white bread flour for 2 loaves and most of it has past its best before date. There's only me here to eat it.Not Rachmaninov

The out-of-date stuff is all in tins or unopened jars, and as I'm veggie and so don't have to worry about meat food-poisoning (stuff like pork, etc), I'm pretty much of the view that "If it's not mouldy, it's edible":rotfl:. Well, we'll see over the next few days anyway...

Jelly Biactol that's the most intriguing food stash I've seen listed on this thread since I've been reading it !
blueybag I buy water too. Our lovely local spring water has chlorine added to it eww so though I use that for tea, coffee and cooking I drink bottled spring water. In my case it's partly a habit having lived/travelled in places where the water isn't drinkable. If you're not fussed about which bottled water you drink, Poundland often has some cheap. Loads of offers on Evian atm too.
katskorner yup still low carbing.. don't even think about it now, it's a way of life. At Christmas I did have one organic mini mince pie and an organic Christmas pudding yogurt

Nothing wrong with bottled water, if i could afford to buy it I would, as it stands I make do with a filter. It's matter of choice. Bit like going.organic or vegetarian.
The 10 year old sweetcorn, bit stunned you will be eating it, but I'm really intrigued as to what it will even look like, please let me know, also the smell and the texture when eating,.It's like an experiment, I would never eat it, but i just have to know lol. Yes I'm one of those that dare other people to do things i would never do lolLose 28lb 3/28lb

Evening all.
Xmas .................... less than 50 weeks away now. :rotfl:
My bird seed I got from Tesco is on it's last legs now, so need to look out for a cheap bag. I can get 20kg bags for £10 or less, so might treat them.
2013 spends on food so far = £18.63
Lynsey
Please don't remind us about Christmas, but having said that maybe now is the time to start savings - a little a week.
Bird seed:- try mixed corn from the feed merchants, it's mainly corn, wheat, plus other seeds, no peanuts though, It is a lot cheaper, around here £5.60 per 20 kg bag.
Love the spend of just £18.63 - that's the gold standard.
I'm off to start my journey of having my hips assessed tomorrow. Once I'm walking again I'll be first in the queue for late night bargains - watch this space :j0 -
Sorry Lynsey about to knock you off your perch! We've only spent £17.89 so far.
I shall gloat for a bit as it's unlikely to happen again. I have been ill all week so HMM ready meals from the freezer has been a must!
My fridge and freezer collection isn't as extreme as it sounds. Honest.
I have an American style fridge freezer which doesn't hold much frozen. Spits out what it does hold as soon as you open the door (though my Mum says that's because it's too full!). I have a chest freezer that I can find nothing in. And a small upright freezer where I'm starting to keep my ready meals in. The second fridge is mainly for my son who has a milk intolerance and because I have to drive to town to buy his cheese and sandwich stuff I buy in bulk. Can't even get his margarine without driving. I got really fed up with only being able to see stacks of milk free stuff in my fridge.
That's the other reason I shall I shall be usurped before long. Eating from health food shops is very bad for your budget!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a weird concoction of stuff in the cupboard! I know I asked this last year but anyone got any ideas of what to do with an out of date jar of chestnut puree? I'll keep asking every year til someone helps me so you may as well give in now!
