Morning all. Snow hasn't appeared. Good!

Got a bit of a headache which I've had since yesterday, probably stress related lol.

May have Finest burgers with veg and wedges for lunch, but not sure if I've got wedges so will have a rethink if not. Don't know about tea.

Bought a really expensive bag of popcorn yesterday, just to save money. Went to Home Bargains for popcorn and drinks to take to the cinema and ended up breaking my bag's zip trying to get the popcorn in! Had to buy a new bag from TK Maxx.... good job I was already thinking of getting one lol.

Also got the peppercorn sauce and double cream from M&S whilst in town, but that was it for food shopping. Won't spend anything today.

Kirri - wish I could get rid of my landline. Need it for my broadband.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Sorry Lynsey about to knock you off your perch! We've only spent £17.89 so far.

ideas of what to do with an out of date jar of chestnut puree? I'll keep asking every year til someone helps me so you may as well give in now!

That's the super gold standard :rotfl:

Chestnut puree:- is it sweetened, if not add caster sugar. how about on pancakes, over vanilla ice-cream, goes well with meringues. add some to a basic cheesecake and serve with choc sauce.
unsweetened, add to stuffing mix, add to chicken stock with veg for a soup. hope this helps.

If it's the sweetened Clement Faugier chestnut puree that's impressive willpower. I don't have a sweet tooth until it comes to that stuff and can't eat it now.

Sweetened.. shove it on toast on top of lashings of Normandy butter..my breakfast of choice pre diabetes in France <imagine wistful look>
Unsweetened .. add into either nut roast recipe or stuffing.

I only spent £14 in Sainsbos on Friday but then £45 from Ocado Saturday and got Abel & Cole arriving tomorrow with £25 worth but mostly offers :D
  • I think I will be staying in this forum for now on... I ventured over to the eBay forum and got my head bitten off!

Are we all having a lovely Sunday? I am! My Uncle works in a chicken factory who supply sainsburys, tesco, KFC and McDonalds. I managed to get...

    2 Whole Chickens
    Chicken Mini Fillets
    Breast Quarters x 4
    2kg KFC chicken drumsticks
    2kg KFC chicken strips
    Chicken drumsticks x 4

all for £9! Nine pounds! Really pleased with this!

Headed off to Tesco and got a lot of my money; ended up coming to £45. I decided to buy some of the Everyday Essentials -- the yogurt is beautiful. Definitely a Tesco convert.
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D
  • Nothing wrong with bottled water, if i could afford to buy it I would, as it stands I make do with a filter. It's matter of choice. Bit like going.organic or vegetarian.

Filtered all the way. I refuse to buy bottled water!

Why on earth did they bite your head off??? hope they left your kitty ears in tact x

U lucky lady - £9 for all that chicken

I too have just come back from Tesco spent £40 i honestly don't know how you guys get all these reductions, apart from a packet of donuts for 30p and two raspberry turnovers for 30p there was nothing else reduced
  • Kitty Ears in tact! I told them all to get some manners.

Keep a look out in local papers if you have food factories near you, many do "open afternoons" & you can get food very cheap. Pleased with our loot!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Afternoon all, been out all day with friend. A very slight dusting of snow over-night and hoping it doesn't arrive her tonight. Those that want it are welcome to it!!
Sorry Lynsey about to knock you off your perch! We've only spent £17.89 so far.

    Oh?? A challenge eh?? :D

Well done and anyone who spend less than my £60 Jan spends will do well, or adjusted pro rata as I'm only shopping for two. Hope the "rivalry" helps reduce budgets in a nice way.

Kitty_Ears - great bargains, well done. The ebay thread can cause arguments - not friendly like here. lol

zafiro1984 - I hope I can get bags of bird seed for that price, I'd double up. Trying a few seed merchants during the week, but can't see myself getting it that low - fingers crossed.

Stuff I took out yesterday were chicken breasts (thank God) and having tonight stuffed with sage and onion stuffing and wrapped in Lidl's black forest ham, together with roast veg and last of potatoes.

Spent 99p today on a pack of fresh salmon fillets from Sainsbury's because they look nice. Hubby will eat them and cheap at 50p per fillet.
I need bread tomorrow and fruit and some cheap potatoes from somewhere. Potatoes could wait until Wednesday and I'll get some from the market if I get the Groupon booked.
Off to Aldi with Brother, so see what I fancy from the new Super 6.
May not get many NSD's this week, but spend days will be low ones.

Lip_Stick - headache?? Hope you don't suffer from "headaches" on your hols. lol ;);)
    Seriously though, hope it's lifted.

2013 spends on food so far = £19.62

I'm up for the challenge - £60 or less for Jan, there are just 2 of us. Mine will be mainly from fridge, freezer, & cupboards, hopefully very little online shopping. Only got £18.05 left so will have to be sooooooo very careful.
If I manage this I'm going to put the rest of my grocery challenge money aside for next Christmas.
