Edwardia, worth trying pain meds if arthritis, I had a very old guinea pig who got very stiff legged (and just general old age things bit like an old person - animals seem to get a lot of the same behaviours) and the meds helped, as a long term thing. Guinea pigs have Metacam which is actually a dog/cat med. Worth seeing what the vets think, though imo some vets pts too quick when a lot of conditions can be managed quite well. Obviously the incontinence is a difficult issue but if the dog was otherwise well, ie as long as not a serious illness cause, I would put up with it. Could it be the pain is making him not move to go or is it totally involuntary? Sometimes trying something as simple as a pain med can make the world of difference to an animal.
You might not be near any stations that stock them but Metros are very handy - I use newspapers for pet bedding all the time, estate agents sometimes have the non glossy type too. I get family to save as many as poss or ask on Freecycle.0 -
Oh dear...made the most amazing soup....added four things of dried noodles, went off for a cuppa....lost track of time...noodles ate my soup lol!!!
taste amazing tho - and I have enough for lunch til the end of the week0 -
(((Edwardia)))
donnajt - I LOVE it when the noodles swell up and take over the soup!!
Lynsey - you made me laugh about the insurance. My cholesterol came back high last time too - 6.2:eek: They have given me Atorvastatin but I am still seeing if I can get it down with diet. The cardiologist I see told me that people don't realise that low fat stuff is often full of sugar and it is actually worse for you than having the real stuff. He reckons sugar is the big no no, as well as saturated fat.
Cholesterol can be genetic though - my ex-OH who is a fitness fanatic (ex England rugby player) has had two heart attacks even though he eats really healthy, excercises regularly and has not a tiny bit of fat on him!! His cholesterol was really really high though - nearly 10 and they say that it is a genetic thing and nothing he could do about it. It was a real scare for him though as he's only in his late 40's. With Statins his has come down to around 4 which they say is okay, but the GP changed him from Atorvastatin to Simvastatin (cos it's cheaper) and his cholesterol went right up again so they changed him back.
Anyway - at about 11 o'clock a graze box arrived (I started getting them with the Groupon thing and keep forgetting to cancel them - but they are lovely;)) - so I had two of the inserts (herb garden and coffee and walnut) which I counted as my lunch - I was able to point them up using WW online so it was okay. Lamb and lentil curry is bubbling in the slow cooker and naan bread dough is in the breadmaker - I've never done it before so am hoping it will turn out okay. I probably won't have the naan though. NSD today but I do need milk but will try and hang on until tomorrow.
Has anyone got a halogen oven? I got one off Ideal world just before Christmas and it was fantastic, however it broke down after about 20 uses so I sent it back. They sent me another one and the same thing happened with that one. I got it because it had a hinged lid - I don't fancy the ones without the hinged lid because I think they could be dangerous (particularly around my two kids who are beyond careless). I loved the way it cooked so quickly though.
I have made a lot of use of my slow cooker for soups and stews and find it really useful, but it is a faff having to brown the stuff in another pan first. QVC have got one which had a dish that you can put on the hob and I am seriously thinking of getting one as it is only around £20.
Kirri - have you registered with any temp agencies? There is quite a bit of temp work around at the moment and it isn't too badly paid and it would get you off the dole. It is dreadful that they are telling people to leave off degrees.Jane

Oh Edwardia so sorry to hear about your dog. It is awful to see pets suffer though isn't it? I had to make the very difficult decision to have my beloved puss cat put to sleep a few years ago and it truly did break my heart. I have two more now but I still miss him dearly.
Welcome herewegoagain2010 - good luck with the challenge. You shall learn much and save plenty!!
Got to get boys in a minute but already got out sausage casseroles for dinner from freezer and will do some pots with them for the boys - I think that our one has some already in but if not then nevermind!
Not sure what to dig out to do for tomorrow. Fancy something non-casseroly as had a left over beef one for lunch too today. Will have a hunt later and see.
Taking boys for hair cuts later on - littly loves it!! lol.

Hahaha Lip-stick you made me laugh! (sorry, don't know how to quote yet!). Jellybaby was my late OH's nickname for me and each time I was pregnant I always got Jellybelly. I'm pretty much Jellybelly now (without the pregnancy bit I hasten to add) but hoping this challenge will help lose a very stubborn stone.0

I'm hoping to pick up some short term temp work, been going via the agencies to get something slightly longer ie a month or so min, so I can at least cover mortgage to start with, but no joy so far, so going to see if I can get anything even a few days for starters - it's a bit of a gamble with the mortgage to cover to come off for just a few days here and there but will have to take the risk..
I gave in and reinstated my Graze box today oops, but they offered me 3 half price boxes so works out 40p per portion which isn't bad. Wish they'd do organic but even so I do like them and they've got lots of new things since I last had them! - had them whilst working but cancelled while out of work so can't really afford to continue till I get work again but just having a guilt ridden small treat!!
Finally just had lunch, bit late, teacakes took ages to make.0 -
