Making a thai curry with chicken from the freezer, excess rice from cupboard. Got the freezer about half full so far. Should have enough for a spare tea for my mum too. Got a load of apples not sure what to do with them yet though..eating apples that is. Still have a huge marrow..been under the sink for about a 2 months but it seems ok..greatly appreciate some suggestions on that one...must weigh about 11 pounds! Been collecting jars to make chutney. Lost about a few pounds in weight today, no secret super diet ..damn plaster cast on my leg has finally come off!

I'd make crumble or pie with the apples :)

Marrow - no idea, never cooked with one before!

I know..marrow was a gift from a work mate. Think it's pie but not great for the waist line!

I think of it as putting on some extra layers to help deal with the coming harsh winter! ;)

It's Halloween soon. Paint it orange and have a funky shaped pumpkin head!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Really need to empty my freezers and cupboards,I tend to buy far to much food and a lot gets wasted.

That's the best suggestion yet for using up a marrow! I grow my own veg and inadvertantly get two or three marrows per year and my favorite methods of using them up are (a) put them in the compost bin (b) feed them to next door's chickens or (c) donate them to an unsuspecting friend.

I need to get to the bottom of my freezer too. I usually have one eat-from-freezer week every 2-3 months but there have been too many bargains lately, especially chicken. The freezers are full...yes, got two freezers, one small chest one and a tabletop model in the utility room which I was given and is meant for allotment produce, not chicken!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

Soup was a little thin, but nice enough. Added a little extra water, stick to 1 litre next time (froze 4 portions).
Spent £1.17 last night and got 3 Ginster pasties (29p each), 2 twin packs of panna cotta's (10p per pack) and a pack of finger buns for 10p to feed the birds.
Pork joint to cook today and having with roast veg and cabbage and stuffing of course.

Just printed off some free pizza coupons (goodfellas) and will fill up freezer again - 2 coupons per pc/laptop using backspace button after 1st printed. Keep food bill down a little.

Welcome to MSE Mrs Good Life, you will find you waste a lot less now you are sticking to a budget and using what you've got - probably eat better stuff also as the temptation to buy junk stuff would be classed as a waste of budget (does for myself anyway........well not always) ;). Good luck and using coupons really helps keep the costs down and combined with reduced items, you really can have the "Good Life". lol
