Katskorner well done you on the run, i am struggeling to walk at the moment it's even sore getting in and out of the car. Thank you for your sympathy about the bereavement, it was quick at the end but not unexpected if you know what i mean and was genuinely for the best.

Edwardia well done you on the cheap organic shopping. It does taste better my kids love organic fruit and veg but you very rarely see it ys, though i do buy it for them if it's on offer or not but dearer than normal stuff.

MS-night-rider good luck with using up your tatties !!.

Lynsey - good luck with the appointment i'll need it i fell out with one of the doctors before as i thought he wasn't taking me serious and i am a quiet person honest. This has been an ongoing problem for 8 years.

    Catch up tomorrow now.

donnajt - £103 on one shop.

I'm hoping to spend around half that amount in January.
Strange spending without a dedicated budget today, I was actually a little frightened to put stuff in the basket. :rotfl:
I very rarely shop with a trolley and that helps I suppose.
I'm still being frugal until the end of March and hoping to clear stuff. I'll assess again then.

just trying - good luck with that appointment - take care.

I know Lynsey I always want to cry when I see our shopping bill but I have caught it down from £100 per week, my problem is i overbuy and shove it in the freezer  got to get out of the habit when I followed this thread religiously i really thought I had beat the habit

What are your main tips for keeping your bill so low Lynsey?

First spend since xmas eve - just some fruit and veg £4.41, in Sainsbury's as I was passing one. Didn't even look at any other aisles!

Did pop in an organic shop after but only for toiletries - resisted all else, will go back end of month for food if running low by then.

Hi Everyone and a Happy New Year,

Overspent on food for Christmas, should have had the family here on Boxing Day but due to illness it was cancelled so had to freeze as much as I could. Freezers are now full to bursting and we are still eating the fresh fruit, cheese & salads bought for Boxing Day. I made loads of liqueur chocs for Boxing day so the diet has gone to pot as well.
Want a laugh:- decided to cook the Christmas turkey in a small oven - not the large range cooker as there was just the two of us. Bought what I considered to be a smallish turkey. Well, it fitted ok for length and width but it was just too high to fit comfortably in the oven. I ended up taking the legs and underneath off and just cooking the 'crown'

So it's back to eating from the freezer and cupboards. New Years resolution of just spending on fresh fruit and veg until I have space.

Tonight it was two chicken thighs for DH plus veg, liqueur chocs for afters. I had leftover from yesterday cold pork with sweet onions, olives, semi dried toms & peppers, a topping I use that I have frozen in individual packs. Wasn't going to have any afters but stole a couple of Bailey liqueur chocs. Must try harder tomorrow.

*yawns* Morning all. Ds is still in bed! Really need to adjust his sleep pattern for school next week!

Took all the decorations down yesterday as I had a bit of help, so was far quicker than if I was on my own doing it.

Today will be savoury mince for tea. Not sure about dinner, soup perhaps. Hoping to take ds to Toys R Us to spend his voucher, if the weather stays ok. Will probably nip to tesco to buy a couple of things like fruit and veg, if I do head out.

    Definitely need: Milk and electric!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

As ms_night_ryder's stated, filling freezers with reduced items. Get as much as you can @ 70% or more off and keep it for "a rainy day".
Coupons work for myself and you can use coupons for freebies you don't even want, just to get you total up to say £20 and use that £3 off £20 till spit. Donate the unwanted freebies.
Get that realistic target in your head and try and stick to it.
Depends on your circumstances really and what your family will allow. Work commitments will have a bearing.
Where's Jane?? She could struggle as her "kids" knew what "they wanted" rather than eat what was in. So not everyone can be frugal to a full extent, but can still cut their budget. Just find a comfortable level and set a reward if you want to spend your savings on. Our "reward" (Xmas holiday) went pear-shaped as Son needed a car, but some of what we saved helped there and we can see the massive benefit - hopefully when he gets fully on top, he'll treat us to that holiday. lol

I'm not hungry today, so not 100% sure what I'll eat apart from a bacon sandwich soon. I might have a stir fry if I feel up to it tonight.

I'll need that milk later, so will pop into Sainsbury's later and see if they have any reduced veg.

Very mild, hope it continues. Garden is still soaked though.

Since going organic in March my most expensive weekly shop was Christmas Eve, Abel & Cole, £82 so I don't feel so bad now about buying organic :)

I might start with Abel & Cole. Or at least try for one order!
Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt! :D:D

Another NSD or not going near a shop day:-)

I can manage till weekend when I will need fruit and veg the less I spend the more money I have for our holiday.

Dinner will be chicken, mash, stuffing, garden peas and gravy.I shall have the same with 2 veggie sausages.
All that is coming out of freezer is my sausage and peas as the rest are left overs.

I will be placing an Approved Food order at weekend they have 1 kilo cappuccino mix for 99p my darling husband loves this so will get enough to last the year:-)
