Afternoon all, it's dark looks like it's going to rain here. I am writing this reply for the second time as had it written one minute gone the next, don't know what i done i am cursing lol. Got my electric bill the other week and it was big. I knew it would be as have been using the tumble dryer every day if i'm honest. Think it may have caused shock in the oh as he's learnt how to use this washing machine and if it's windy when he gets up he puts the washing out for a while, still needs finished in the tumble dryer lol. He's back to work next week and kids back to school, my youngest still isn't dressed and i haven't seen her yet she's lieing in her bed watching dvds, she needs to get back to a routine for school. She'll be up early tomorrow as found her dentist appointment card.
Lyney you're right about it fiting round family life, budgeting, i can only really get ys when other halfs off work and sometimes at weekends as i don't drive oh curses me for not driving. I must get my butt into action and print coupons off i just don't do it, i do cut them out of papers though. I have been spending less, not been picking items up for the sake off it like you do sometimes, though i think my freezer and cupboard may tell you a different story lol. As far as my kids go and yes they can be fussy, they are told most of the time unless i know it's something they don't like it's not a restaurant you're in. It annoys them but makes me laugh.
ms_night_ryder, you made me laugh it should be called how much can you cram in your freezer, you're right and my freezer certainly agrees because not another thing could be cramed into it.
The food plan today (nearlly forgot about that part) is brekkie i had gammon on a roll earlier, everyone else had cheese on toast, lunch kids can have beans on toast and dinner is going to be sausages, mash, veg and gravy i think. As i have sausages in the fridge which need used.
Catch up later.0 -

Basically an annual savings challenge. Look HERE.
First year for myself, with a pot anyway.
I do save bits, especially cashback money and other bits and I have the luxury of having next Xmas sorted and half on the way to 2014. lol
Give it a go, seems a lovely friendly thread and good banter.
Had my butty, took out some scones for my "cream tea" later and see how the rest goes.
Hubby is back to work tomorrow and he'll be grumpy tonight.
Got to get money for bgs etc. though. :rotfl:

Thanks Lynsey, will give it a go i have an old demi-john so will use that and warn the kids to stay away from it !!. I would put it towards Christmas it would help. You are organised, i do try and buy bits during the year but it doesn't always work.
Oh yes know what you mean about them being grumpy, my oh said earlier i've only 1 more day of my holidays, i looked at him and he said you don't count Saturday and Sunday as i always have that days off. I can look forward to mr grumpy on Sunday, and if only we won the lottery i wouldn't need to go back speech lol.0 -
Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Its been far too long since I visited this board, (about July I think!) I hope everyone is ok?
Well I have full cupboards and a VERY full freezer (broke a drawer before trying to close it!) so I decided it's time to have a good eat up. This should also help me on my January grocery challenge!
Lunch was crackers and cheese, with a few bits of salad that was lurking in the fridge.
tonights tea is sausage (from the freezer) with bacon and egg (lots of eggs to eat up, will be baking tomorrow!)
I'm also going to hard boil some eggs for hubby's packed lunch tomorrow, to go with some crackers and cheese.
Trying to do meals that don't need bread, as we have loads of crackers and part baked rolls to use up. Also if I don't go and buy bread, then I'm not tempted to buy anything else either!
Need to really save some money on my shopping bill, its expensive feeding 2 adults and 3 growing children!mortgage £800 overpayment 2022. £600/£2400 2023 🙂 savings £1853/£1800 😊0 -

I have been lurking and reading your posts for quite some time now so thought I would join in.
I have been shopping in my Tesco for the last year and really only buy stuff on Whoopsies or special offers. I have two freezers, (one is a large fridge, smaller freezer) and other is half and half. I have to say that over the last year I have done really well on reductions of meat and veg. On Christmas Eve my husband went to Lidls at about 6.00 and came back with a FREE Turkey Crown, steak mince and loaf of bread.
I found that recently the meat is more difficult to get a worthwhile reduction on as my Tesco now have to scan periodically through the evening and their machine tells them when they can do the 75% reduction. I did hit jackpot, just before Christmas and got 2 large pork roasting joints for £1.70 and £1.50 each, they were so big I had to cut them in half LOL.
Another thing I tend to do is bulk buy if Lidls have a good half price offer, the last time there was rump steak I purchased about six boxes.
Whatever we have left from our main dinner, I will freeze in plastic containers and have these for lunches, so again that makes a huge saving, as I will just boil up rice in the morning or stick a part baked roll in the oven. I am luck to have microwave and fridges at workplace.
Anyway hello everyone and sorry for the woffle.
PS I also try to get the freezer empty, but cannot stop being tempted by all the bargains, it's like an addiction LOL.
Bye for now0 -

madhatter 1 - welcome to the thread and good luck. Nice to see another bargain hunter and well impressed with the free crown and pork bargains.
Hope you post more as I notice only 4 posts since 2009. Please post your bargains and encourage others.
lynneee - welcome back and nice to see you posting.
Edwardia - nice to see you grab some bargains, especially being limited with choice.
Spent £2.07 tonight on 4 pints of milk, reduced pate (29p), reduced nectarines (39p) and reduced apple crumbles (39p). Froze the pate for pate on toast or filled vol-au-vents and crumbles tomorrow.
I ended up having cheese on toast. lol
I'm trying for a £60'ish month and only need fresh stuff to make meals with.
NSD tomorrow and get what I need on Saturday.
2013 spends to date = £5.61
