Morning all, yes Edwardia it certainly is frosty, it rained last night and it wasn't long before it iced over. The roads and paths are a disgrace really icy. The older 2 came home from school and declared it was going to be snowing on Thursday or Friday i thought oh no, then read in the paper what they had just told me. Well the meal plan today is cereal for brekkie (fruit and fibre), lunch is going to be some kind of soup and dinner will either be chilli con carne with rice or chicken curry pie with tatties or chips and peas, haven't decided yet. Doing nothing today, except the dishes as my back is still bad. Catch up later and stay warm.0

My eldest son has croup and is off school. Had to postpone my hair appointment till next week. Hoping they will all be well again then!
Dug out 500g of lean mince from freezer and planning on making a chilli which will mean a couple of portions get frozen but running out of HM meals in the freezer and need to eat something!
The kids can have savoury mince and jackets which they like anyhow.
There is a decent amount of space appearing in the freezer now. It is amazing what you can do if you really make the effort. I intend to keep a much tighter reign on spending next year.
I do have to buy a large tub of ice cream this week though but it is for youngest's 4th birthday party at the weekend (although his birthday is not till the 24th). So it won't last long!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hi Everyone!
I've just done my first shop to Aldi's and Asda's. It was a 3 bus, 3 hour total journey time, so I'm not sure if this is worth it for me, plus I had 4 heavy carrier bags to lug home by myself.
But I digress....here's what I picked up to help flesh out my cupboard/freezer usage:
Aldi's: 2.95 including 4 of the Super 6 (carrots, potatoes, dark chocolate bar, sprouts, clementines)
Asda's: 13.82 including: soy milk, yogurt, cheese, mushy peas, peanut butter, lemon juice, oyster sauce, batter mix (3), yeast, green beans, pasta, eggs, noodles (3), sauce mixes (4), cereal, bourbon creams, bananas, and bread. I got my first whoopsie too: a pack of puff pastry for .32p!
I've gone over my 20# goal for the week just slightly, but I've also added some things I needed like eggs, yeast, batter mix, peanut butter, etc.
Breakfast was cereal
Lunch was leftover pasta bake from last night and toast
Dinner is unknown right now.~Steph~0 -

Do Asda deliver to you would save 3 buses and carrying the shopping?
You could do a months shop.
Lunch was a sandwich out(i am a mystery shopper so I will get it back)
Dinner is gammon steak, poached egg, jacket potato and sweetcorn.
I shall have veggie bake with jacket potato and sweetcorn.
All I used from freezer is gamon steak....must try harder.Weight loss challenge 66lb to go /59lb's lost

Wow that's one hell of a journey just to go shopping!! 15 mins into the next town is enough to put me off!!
I had to pick a few things up this morning, nothing reduced, nothing on offer that I wanted though. Did buy some vegan burgers as an extra, but dinner will be out of the fridge, probably a houmous pitta as it needs using up. Might add some potato wedges and vegan mayo.0 -
Hi all,
Weather really cold and it looks like fog is settling in at the moment.
Welsh Poppy - your mincemeat ice-cream sounds really good, could you share the recipe as I'm looking for a 'christmas pud ice-cream'. thanks
Just ordered some chocolate moulds to make HM chocolate liqueurs for christmas. Just need to order alcholic goodies to go in them.
Day 3 of my meal plan - green pea and ham soup for lunch, didn't take long to make. Tea is probably lamb casserole with some of the left over lamb from the weekend. I think I have some left over cooked veg that I froze a couple of weeks ago so I'll use that, a good gravy and dumplings will hide a multitude. Pudding, not sure, 'mincemeat' something as I need to use the jar up to make space.0 -

Hi Welsh Poppy,
That's what I'm thinking, or else just stick to the Tesco's that isn't too far away. It was a bit much I think, but I have heard on various threads on here that Asda's is cheaper. However, I found many things to be the comparable price at Tesco's, so I think that will be my best bet. Going into town takes around 45 minutes on the bus each way, but if I'm on that way to Uni, Lidl is across the street. I know it's comparable in many ways to Aldi's.~Steph~0 -

To be Honest I don't like Asda , if I was in your position I would stick with Tesco and Lidl's makes more sense to use what is near to you as you don't drive......we prefer Lidl's to Aldi.
If you use www.mysupermarket.com...you can compare the 4 big supermarkets and way it all up.Weight loss challenge 66lb to go /59lb's lost
