Hi All,
Eldest is poorly today. Was going to happen seeing as the rest of them have had it. Still eating from freezer and nothing in. Today out comes chilli beef kebabs and a french stick. Unsure what to do tomorrow but will probably have to cook as running out of HM stuff now.
Hi Steph and Rebelle3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Rebelle - interesting reading of your meals, sounds good!
AmericanInScotland - I cook just for me, if doing something like stir fry etc it's easier to do a single portion and just measure out a single portion of rice etc but if I'm making something like bolognaise I stick the extra portions in the freezer. I find I actually need to buy very little though does often mean eating the same thing a few days in a row if it's not freezable..
Nice to see more using up of food on here instead of buying!!!
I used the final pack of 2 year old parsnips from the freezer today, another item used!
Needed something sweet tonight, didn't have enough ingredients to make a cake but had an out of date pot of Whole Earth choc spread with hazelnuts - so made a simple butter/sugar/flour fork biscuit and sandwiched them with the choc hazel spread - works quite well, good choc hit! May have to do more batches to use up the rest of the jar though especially as it's already out of date.
Run out of fruit so will have to top up tomorrow.0 -
Evening all.
Spent about £2.50 today at Home Bargains on a few bits and pieces for ds' pack ups.
Had the turkey chili sausages with some lo sweet and sour sauce, added yellow pepper and served it with rice. It was quite nice but ds thought it was too spicy.
Lunch tomorrow will be a couple of the lo sausages. No idea about tea but I'm thinking pasta as I need to get through that huge bag I bought. Have some lamb and feta meatballs in the freezer I made, so will drag them out maybe.
Hopefully my financial situation will improve soon. Paying back the folks for a washer, and also with the hit of two large bills and xmas presents, it's taken it's toll. Fingers crossed January is better.
Lynsey - I couldn't do the level 2, which you need to do to get a job as there wasn't any volunteer spaces at schools nearby. Maybe next year it'll happen. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Can I be a bit daft and ask if the "Mr's" stand for the local shops (ie: Mr T= Tesco's)? I'm just guessing, and since I'm new, I need to learn the lingo!~Steph~0

Morning all, cold here but not as bad as last night!
No further spends yesterday, so only £1 on milk and not going out today until maybe tonight. Bits I need I'll get tomorrow - hoping the Linda Mc sausages are still less than £1 in Lidl, only need 1 pack.
Just toast for breakfast and making carrot and coriander soup to use up old carrots. Think I'll take a pork or beef joint out for tomorrow and clear a little space.
I wonder if Groupon will treat us today??
Lip_Stick - good luck for 2013 and you get what you want.

Morning all, big hugs to those shivering Up North, I hear it's been frosty.
NSD for me because I'm claiming the £16 spent on a non-return valve for the washing machine pipe from OH as that's not food.
OH is moaning that we have too much veg, the week after he said he didn't mind eating more veggie meals.
He's also moaning that the freezer is going down and that everything in there is for Christmas grr. I had to point out to him that he's home 21 Dec - 2 Jan and that he'll want three meals a day and extra special food and that's why I'm getting annoyed with him for removing venison mince and wild Alaskan salmon fillets now (need a head banging emoticon here).
AmericaninScotland I have to say never understood why people write MrT for Tesco since it's only 1 letter shorter0
