Morning all, not to cold today but the roads and paths are really icy (dangerous). Well i went to lidls on Saturday and spent £51 more than i have been spending recently but alot less than i used to spend, i used to spend £120 easily a week.I bought one of that Lidl luxury range spiced winter spiced chickens think it was £3.99, it really did taste and smell chritmasy but i found it a bit sweet the kids really liked it, may be a good alternative to turkey. There's 5 of us and there was still plenty left over. Meal plan today cereal which i already had, lunch soup and dinner i think will be sausage and pasta and maybe garlic bread. My back is really sore today so going to take some more tablets in a minute, i can hardly walk. Have a nice day all and will catch up later.0

Breakfast today was a packet of instant oatmeal (I'm going to cooking oatmeal from now on to save) and toast.
Lunch will be leftover chicken noodle stir fry from last night.
Dinner will be a small pasta bake using wholewheat pasta and pasata (and spices) from my cupboard as well as a salad from some of the reduced veg I got at the Co-Op yesterday.
I'm trying to route my way to Aldi's today for some of their offers (veg). I must wait for a delivery first. I hope they come soon!
Anyone else just cooking for themselves? Do you find it difficult? My Mom taught me to cook for a larger family, but now it's just me left, and I'm finding it a bit difficult to scale down my cooking. I don't mind leftovers, though!~Steph~0 -
Hi everyone thought i would post this offer here aswell incase anyone was interested. It's a donald russell meat offer, 2 ribeye steaks, 2 pave rump steaks, 4 grand steak burgers, i pack minced beef, 12 mini steak burgers, 1 lasagne, plus how to meat perfection book supposedly worth £4.50. The cost is £29 delivered. www.donaldrussell.com/ee922 or you can phone 01467629666 and quote ee922. i can't decide whether or not to go for it as i have heaps in the freezer, probably shouldn't!!.0

Thanks for the hello peeps. And a hello to any newcomers I've missed.
Today for lunch is a tin of pea and ham soup. Tea will be sweet chili turkey sausages.. but I've no idea what I'm going to serve them with. Will probably end up being baked beans, but not so sure of that lol.
Anyone any ideas of hot recipes for bulgar wheat, I've got a couple of packets doing nothing in the cupboards.
Really broke at the minute. Have the grand total of 6.50 in the bank and the fridge is bare.Get some money this week but still need a few pressies to buy. Got plenty in the cupboards though to keep us going.
Edwardia - Agree with what you say about eggs. They're definitely a firm favourite in this house with their cost, versatility and their overall goodness and yumminess.
AmericanInScotland - I'm cooking for 1.5... myself and my son which is quite awkward. Buying a bigger freezer would be beneficial for you, I believe. That way you could batch cook and stash some for another week. Also you could buy and store a lot more whoopsies as you can freeze them.
just trying - hope your back is better soon. x
Hi Rebelle - some delicious sounding recipes there! There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Hi Lip_Stick. Thanks for the advice. I'm renting right now, and have no room for a proper fridge/freezer (mine is quite small). I have some space to work with, but it's limited. I will rotate meat in and out both to use up, and to keep good deals in there. I'll also freeze large portions of say chili, for later use. I think that this task will be great for losing weight, as I'm going to drastically cut back on what I purchase because I'm just one with limited space.
BTW, I hope things get better for you soon!~Steph~0 -
aww, Thank you lip_stick, that's kind of you. It's absolutely agony, nearlly brought a tear to my eye but have taken all the medication i'm allowed and phoned the doctors to get an appointment with the doctor i normally see and they have no appointments with him just now, said i would be looking about February time !!. I will think about an appointment with another doctor, they're not very sympathetic i was actually argueing with one of them one time. I am in my early 30's and i am going about with a walking stick borrowed from a much older friend, it's agony all the time even just siting. DD will just have to walk home herself today, it would take me ages to walk to the school that's even if i made it, it's only 2 minutes away and i can watch her most of the way from the window.0

Afternoon all, been shopping for Brother today and done his cleaning!!
Picked up 4 pints of milk for £1, only spends so far.
Rebelle - welcome to the thread and good luck. I need to improvise more instead of just buying!!
You've reminded me I need eggs.
just trying - hope that back eases - take care.
Lip_Stick - hope things pick up for you in 2013. Did anything come of that course you were on??
Toast for breakfast, cake for lunch and soup later.
I'm trying just to get by until Wednesday and we have to drop my Brother off at the ferry port, so will do Aldi for veg and Tesco (more L'Oreal stuff and Baxters soup for foodbank) and maybe Lidl. Probably check out B&M and Home Bargains for crisp offers.
My Pringles speakers arrived today, hope you lot got the freebie.
Try Sainsbury's tonight if I'm passing for reduced stuff.
