Afternoon all, it hasn't bee too bad a day here, but temperatures dropping now since the daylight is going.
quintwins - great bargains and lots of - well done and still space for more bargains. lol
NSD, not been out and I've been clearing cupboards and putting in goodies for Xmas. Found some of the 12p easy melt chocolate stuff (OOD) and made muesli cakes and added OOD sultanas - quite nice though.
Just been eating pork and stuffing sandwiches and still some to finish.
Might pop into Sainsbury's later to check for any bargains, but may wait until tomorrow when we pick Brother up again.
Those cheap potatoes I got from Tesco yesterday made very nice roasties, I'll have to check what type they are.
pamsdish - freezers are much easier to fill than to empty.

I did buy a packet of Linda McCartney's frozen sausages as they were a £ at the Co-Op.
I also did treat myself to a facial yesterday that was on special at my salon from £40 to only £10, and as I've never had one. It was a great treat!
Dinner last night, which was undecided for awhile, ended up being eggs on toast with a bit of cheese (all from my cupboards).
I've stayed in for the past few days to do my research, and it's been great for no spending (plus it's been icy up here)!
Today's meals have been:
Breakfast: Cereal and a banana (I like the value cornflakes!)
Lunch: hm oven chips
Dinner: stirfry using turkey cutlets from the freezer, veg from the fridge, and cheap noodles. Leftovers for tomorrow!
I'm going to plan on making a large crock pot of black eyed peas using dried beans and bacon from the freezer. I'm also planning on making cornbread muffins from mix I brought with me from the States.
I'm from the South, and we like interesting dishes.
I've told my boyfriend that when he visits soon, we're going to be very frugal. So, I'm trying to save the meat I have in the freezer for when he's here. Hopefully I can find some reductions to help!
We've been invited for Christmas dinner, so we're pretty lucky. I'm making a gingerbread cake and white peppermint bark, all from ingredients I have here at home!~Steph~0 -
quintwins - amazing chicken bargain there :T
americaninscotland - I lived in Canada for 2 yrs and went to high school there for a year, my OH lived in Florida for a year and I have a stepdaughter in Texas so we're fairly fluent in North American. The South though is a whole different kettle of catfish..
I never have figured out what sweet tea and grits are and y'all have some confusing expressions there but I love em.
Do you have a Southern accent ? Anna Paquin who plays Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's True Blood is actually Canadian born and mostly Kiwi reared plus married to an Englishman but is Sookie's accent for real ??? OH lurves Sookie..
If you run out of stuff from home in between boyfriend's visits and care packages holler as I am a Kraft Dinner addict and use Arm & Hammer washing soda so I use different places to get different things.
Back on topic, dinner tonight is Ocado mackerel fillets from the freezer with Seeds of Change organic Jalfrezi sauce from the cupboard and Waitrose organic petit pois from the freezer cos oops we ran out of Basmati0 -
Thanks edwardia
i'm really happy with this weeks whoospies my freezers filled to bursting.
Today i'm havings
b-toast, scrambled egg and bacon (it was yummy)
l-baked tatie with cheese and coleslaw (all bought reduced)
d-breaded cod, hm chips, hm onion rings and beans
Amercianiin scotland i love value cornflakes and they have less things added too them than the well know brands so are heathier, granted not as healthy as say porridge but sometimes you like something crunchy, aswell as breakfast we mix them with bars of value chocolate to make cornflake buns (because ricecrispies are expensive) it costs about 40p for 12 good sizes ones and the kids love them.
I'm gonna dog some banana bread out of the freezer for the kids pudding aswellDEC GC £463.67/£450

Afternoon, horrible grey rainy day here which has washed away the early morning scattering of snow!!
Been out early to pick Brother up and took him to Aldi.
Aldi have some great Xmas goods in and I would have bought quite a bit on a "normal" year, but staying "frugal" to the end.
I think next year I might try and do an "Aldi Xmas for £35" if one of the £5 off £35 vouchers are available. I will get a few things towards the back end of next week from Aldi and the bacon they have for £1.29 looks really nice, in fact most of the "Special" stuff looks good.
Skipped breakfast and had the last of the pork and stuffing in a sandwich and might just go to the "Dogs" tonight for the "freebie".
NSD yesterday and could be today, but if going to the "Dogs", I'll visit a large Asda and check for bargains.
quintwins - great bargains again, you are on a roll.

Afternoon all. Not a nice day here. Cold and rainy and I'm sure I heard the wind howling earlier, but not venturing out just yet to find out.
Did a shop yesterday and spent £25 in Asda. Got fruit and veg, butter, toilet rolls... the stuff you can't do without. Then went to Home Bargains. Spent £16 in there on xmas choccies and thermal vests for ds, eggs and bird food. Also bought some xmas cards for relatives but realised I've missed a load of people out!
Had chicken goujons and kids potato footballs (lol) for tea last night but did too much and felt bloated for ages. No idea about tea tonight! Half fancy haggis which I bought but might save that for next week, and get something out the freezer instead... but what?... hmmmThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

HA Edwardia! Your post made me giggle!
Many don't see Florida as "The South," but boy, I can tell you it IS!
I don't have an accent, except when I get around my family, who all have very distinct twangs lol!
I don't do sweet tea, but am ADDICTED to grits. I found some in Jenner's! I won't be buying them at £5 per box. I just beg everyone who comes to see me to bring them with!
I haven't really been craving any American food. Some people say British food isn't tasty, but I highly disagree! Plus, I mostly cook for myself!
I don't get care packages since I don't have any parents anymore, and I tell my friends back home it's too expensive to ship!
I'd LOVE to know any American food/product locations you can give me! I've heard many make hm laundry soap with the washing soda, so I'd really like to know more about where you find that! I have to be sparse with my spending since imports are so expensive.

Breakfast was cereal and banana again.
Lunch was popcorn (plus a drink I snuck in) as I went to see The Hobbit, a guilty pleasure.
Dinner was leftover noodle turkey stir fry from last night.
Late snack will be toast with pb and honey.

I know this isn't the place to particularly write this, but please keep those innocent babies who were killed today in Connecticut in your thoughts. Breaks my heart and disgusts me that this keeps happening in my country.~Steph~0 -
AmericanInScotland - crazy event which happens too often, all around the world sadly.
What on earth makes them "crack"??
NSD, never ventured out as weather is not nice at all and still raining - easy way to save money though!!
Just snacked since lunch and just popped some oven chips in to cook (Tesco Finest) and getting rid of some reduced Tesco "chipotle" sausages for hubby to eat.
Took out some smoked mackerel fillets for tomorrow.
So I think I've got about £12 to spend tomorrow and I'll be popping to Lidl tomorrow for some half-price ham and maybe some chocolate. Think I'll get a dozen bars of chocolate for foodbank as a treat and not out of budget. I think I'll donate a few Xmas puddings from the Sainsbury's Fox's "glitch", maybe 3??
