Having lived in Canada weather here doesn't feel cold to me until it's -10C and I'm still walking about in a long sleeved tshirt. But if there is frost I worry about my oleander as they aren't that hardy and not got a fleece over it right now - also my eucalyptus as that's not looking at all good either :(

chardonnay and Kirri sorry to hear life is tough for you right now. OH hasn't had a payrise in 6yrs and every year our income shrinks because the train fares go up so much (another £75 per month from this month but it has been worse previously.

When we first got together it was tough and we lived on soya five nights a week so I have been there. I remember being heartbroken about having to flog stuff to pay water and electricity bills. Sometimes it's just a question of gritting teeth and hanging in there because the recession won't last forever xxx

Kirri - my mother lives in the country, if you PM the list to me I'll see if she knows any of them and can recommend more. She drags me to places in the summer. I go home on train laden down with fruit for OH.

Lynsey you're a star I'm full of admiration for ya. I look at how well you and other people on this thread do and cringe at the amount of money we spend on food in comparison. :(

ah the household is bogged down by sickness! They are all ill apart from me..... not good!

You must all be proud of me today. I saw butcher friend and got the pork for Christmas (two HUGE pieces of shoulder of £5.37....) and arranged turkey for next week and although I do not know how much it will be, I know it will be miles less than it should be!

I resisted EVERYTHING he offered (behave quintwins) and even left behind the chicken he saved for me that was only £2. Freezer cannot be added to this week (apart from pork as was on freezing agenda) and I will succeed!!!! I could have had so much for next to nothing again.....lol!

OH roasted the chicken we dug out yesterday and did a load of lovely veg inc roasties but noone is hungry apart from me. Managed to get the older boys to eat a bit but the little one wouldn't touch a thing. I am going to bake some half baguettes later and do hubby and me ones each with chicken and veg (my food mainly from what the boys left and warmed up). Waste not, want not.

Aim this week - eat from freezer and add nowt in!!!

    Merry nearly Christmas!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

Out and about most of the day and visited M&S. Went "halfers" with friend on 2 cakes for £2, so £1 spent there. Also bought a tin of biscuits for a pressie.
Spent £1.22 in Sainsbury's on 4 pints of milk and reduced bread. Garbage reductions again, wish the old manager would come back!!
    £2.22 spent today.
No budget planned, just glad the £60 4 week budget is over.

No "Sunday Dinner" for myself also, just snacked.
I'm going to sort the freezers out mid-week and create a Xmas drawer. If we eat a couple of ready meals this week there should be a decent amount of space.

katskorner - hope the family shakes off the sickness quickly. See if you can get me a cheap turkey crown from your friend and tell him I don't need stuffing .................................... got a box of Paxo in the cupboard. ;)
