  • Have worked out the week-end meals and taken mussels, haddock, and fishcakes out of the freezer together with a portion of home made celery soup. I must have had a good set of bargains at the fish counter as that seems to constitute half the content of my freezer. I need some milk and some fruit which I will get tomorrow.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.
Just toast and jam with coffee for breakfast and out most of the day at nephews birthday party, so snacking on buffet etc - no planned meals today.

Another result in Sainsburys last night - got there too late for anything decent, but they had just reduced packs of pate to 10p. lol
Bought 10 packs to freeze (still loads left) and lo-and-behold they went through at BOGOF - knocked 10p off per 2 packs, so 10 packs for 50p. Got a Pizza Express pizza for 69p and 3 cans of spinach (son's hamper) for 13p each.

    So:
    10 packs of pate
    3 cans of spinach
    1 pizza

    Total spend = £1.58 :money:

See what they've got tonight. :D

Milk and cheese needed today - Lidl have cheese cheap this weekend (half-price at £1.19 for 400g) so that's my target.

We got takeaway last night! hahaha, we didn't pay though, so it's not too bad.

Tonight is the left over takeaway, and then I can't decide if i should get a pork joint or chicken out the freezer for tomorrow.

  • Had a Shepherdless Pie out the freezer last night for dinner and managed to get 2 portions for OH's lunches next week out of it too. Tonight I have taken some chicken out of freezer and intend to make a sweet chilli chicken stirfry with rice ( I have reams of Encona Chilli sauce that I "won" from their Fb page that needs using up!!).
Lunch today is leftover gnocchi from thursday nights tea and breakfast was field mushrooms cooked in butter on toast ( the mushrooms we managed to find on our day out walking yesterday and they survived the rucksack so free brekkie).

Tomorrow is our cooking together day so I think we'll make an Antonio Carluccio recipe that I fancy - pasta in courgette sauce with tiny spinach balls. I just need to buy a couple of cougettes and have everything else in. Or else a wild mushroom risotto...Will decide tomorrow

  • Just done the food cupboards out. Shouldn't need any rice or pasta for the next year. Gven me loads of ideas for meals and all i should need for the next few weeks is fresh milk and veg.
It's amazing how I must buy the same things all the time without checking whether I really need them.
    April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£150
  • back to square one for me. there was so many reductions and special offers that i spent £25+ but got loads of dinners.

bye bye back of the freezer, see you next year :o

Taken a pork joint out the freezer for dinner, got some carrots and brocolli from my mum that need using and will also do roast potatoes.

Got some free apples too so will make a crumble for later with custard from the cupboard.

Will have a sit down and plan some meals for the week ahead. Shouldn't need to shop at all except maybe for some milk.

Took some steak mince out and also some shortcrust pastry and have made some pies today. We had one for lunch and will finish the other one off tomorrow with mash and possibly peas.

Only spent 79p today on a large lattice apple pie from Sainsburys - had some already with coffee and will finish it off later.

On the look out for some cheap large flat mushrooms to stuff with some of the pate.

OH bought a beef joint earlier, so not having pork anymore! - will cook the pork tomorrow and either freeze it, or make something else with it.

Need to take mince out for moussaka tomorrow, still not decided what to do for my lunch tomorrow. Soup most probably.
