OH forgot to take the organic brown trout (reduced at Waitrose Monday) out of the freezer and I was thinking eek because the Ocado shop doesn't come til tomorrow - but then I remembered the £6.50 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers and sent him round :)

Hope you're all well and having a good Friday night. Real noisy here with fireworks - a couple of displays plus people in gardens. Dawg is gibbering wreck :( Guess it will be like this all weekend.

Anyone been watching Food Rip Off with Gloria Hunniford ? I saw the one about healthy food and was shocked at the amount of sugar in flavoured water - often more than lemonade. Also noticed that Joanna Blythman (author of very good book called Bad Food Britain) advocates eating organic eggs, grapes, chicken and pork if doing organic on a budget and non-organic for the rest IIRC.

Got a chicken carcass (1.99) out of freezer this week and it defrosted loads of blood all over fridge as not in plastic punnet or shrink-wrapped - was just in clear plastic bag. Had to scrub fridge and throw chicken and veg away. Not happy, called Abel & Cole and am getting free bottle of wine. :)

TheLincsEffect hope your knee gets better soon - you're lucky to get MRI as they cost £400 a time. My husband had x-ray of painful knee and GP wouldn't refer him. He moaned and eventually got one and needed surgery under general anaesthetic it was that damaged - often nowadays it's all keyhole stuff on knees, day surgery.

    hi all!

went back to mr T this morning cos couldn't get ogio wine last night. got 18 bottles of merlot and 6 bottles off chardonnay - biggest discount was off the merlot as the chardonnay price had gone to £6.79 instead of £9.99 - but still got 24 bottles for £40.86 and used £1 coupon and then used £25 gift card from daily mail rewards club so actually paid just over £14.. went back tonight and picked up LOADS of reductions (4 bags shopping and two bunches flowers) for just under a fiver. phew....

this is not emptying my cupboards or freezers but does great for the MSE bargain ethos!! lol :)

Is anywhere selling Heinz five beans for 50p anymore?
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

  • So very very chuffed with myself and loving my lucky shop today!

Went A's and T's today, was dreading A's with all the reports of them not taking coupons, but the cashier didnt even blink while she was scanning them all - to the extent she didnt read the Aunt B's coupon correctly and instead of giving me 50p off - she gave me £1.50 off!!!! So my yorkies were free! :T

Had a bit more trouble in T's as the lady on the till had to manually enter and had to check with a supervisor, but it all went through okay in the end.
She scanned both the velvet coupon and the yorkies coupon too...and looking back at my receipt not only did I get ANOTHER bag of free yorkies but she put the velvet coupon in at £1.50 so my loo roll was only 25p! :rotfl:

[in a side note to this, the yorkies at the moment are in a 25% free pack so you get 15 for the price of 12]. :j

    So....combined lists over both A's and T's:

    Special K Moments Blueberry x 2 @ £1.98 & 1.99
    Special K Red Berries £2.68
    Special K Honey Clusters £2.50
    Tena Lights £1.99
    Quaker Oats £1.00
    Yorkshire puddings x 2 @ £1.50 each
    WW meal - £2.98
    Crumpets 77p
    Lettuce - reduced to 64p
Runner beans - reduced to £1.15
    Parsnips 50p
    Velvet crisps £1.00
    Walls sausages x 2 @ £1.99 each
    Kleenex tissue £1.50
    Velvet loo roll £1.75
Cool bag for frozen goodies 70p

    Sub total: £30.11

    Coupons used:
4 x Special K coupons to value of £9.15(so freebies!)
    1 x Quaker Oats @ £1.00 (so free!)
    1 x ww meal @ £2.99 (so free!)
2 x Aunt Bessies @ £3.00 total (free due to cashier errors)

    Morning all.

Deleted_User - well done, great shop and nice little bonus with the coupon errors.

katskorner - don't know if anyone is doing 50p beans at the minute. Fingers crossed that Sainsbury's go back to 50p though.

    Yesterday's spends:

    Bought:
    4 x Special K red berries @ £2.69 = £10.76
    6 x Fox's Xmas puddings @ £2.50 = £15
TTD Pork belly joint (reduced from £5.14) = £1.29
Boneless lamb leg joint (reduced from £8.20) = £2.04
    Sub total = £29.09
    Used 4 x Special K coupons (£10.76 value), 6 x Fox's coupons (£12 value) = minus £22.76
    Total = £6.33

Used £2 out of Grocery Donation fund as I got 4 Fox's Xmas puddings to donate. I'll keep 2.

    My food spends = £4.33

We're having the belly pork tonight as I've got no freezer space and sausage sandwiches with onions for lunch. Probably have roast veg with belly pork.

Not spending much today, but want onions from Lidl an some milk. Baking bread soon, doing the dough now.
Had a bad week for spends, but got loads and loads and plenty of freebies to donate.
£60 for 4 weeks starts Sunday, so I'll have to just buy what's needed.

Toast and a coffee for breakfast in a few minutes.

Have a great weekend and don't miss those Fox's Xmas puddings for only 50p from Sainsbury's (with coupon) - coupon ends tomorrow!!

Haha, thanks :) Kind of a shame it's finished now but we have plenty of cereal here to last us months, and DM is looking forward to trying the cereal bars! I'm going to try and redeem the single bar special k in Boots on Monday, as the two local ones to us where I went yesterday dont have food stuffs. There is another one but its in the main town centre and a bit out of the way for where I was previously.

Lynsey - your sausage sandwiches sound lovely; it's exactly what me and DM are having Monday night - in a true MSE way, we wont be going out for bonfire night this year (due to circumstances) and so instead we shall be hoping the neighbours in the roads surrounding us have their fireworks going so we can watch from the upstairs window!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone, may I join in please? my kitchen is fit to burst with so much food. Have started reading this thread but only got to page 10 so far.

Would you recommend that I start this challenge by writing a list of everything I have in stock and then try and figure out meals?

donnajt - welcome to the thread and hope you post regularly. Some like to list everything and meal plan, I just work around a budget and haven't a clue what I have - got loads though. lol
Good luck and hope you save lots of pennies. Do you buy reduced stuff to fill your freezers/cupboards??

Had a cheap day food-wise and only spent £2.02 on 3 bags of onions (34p each) and 4 pints of milk (£1) from Lidl.
Weeks spends were £28.70 and £26.67 last week. If I can manage £60 for the next 4 weeks (I'll try hard), this will set me up for Xmas.
I'll only need fresh stuff, milk and butter really, but will watch for any bargains. I've still got some coupons to use up and I'll get some donations stuff over the next 4 weeks - gave a bit away today to a neighbour. I had quite a bit of Nestle cereals for my Son, but they need using up so gave them away - most were free or pence anyway.

Non-food, I got some bargains today from the M&S Outlet shop, a pair of jeans for £6.99 and a jumper for £2.99. Got some socks for my Son also.
Bought a cheap remnant carpet to do the stairs and landing for ................. £50. lol
A carpet centre was reducing loads of remnants and advertised as 80% off, but probably worth only about £150/£170 (10m2). Fitting was £37, nearly as much as the carpet!! Spruce things up a bit.

Nothing really planned with meals next week, but determined to clear those long term fish-fingers!!

Hope you got your cheap Xmas puddings and yes ms_night_ryder, a big date on them.

Kirri - you were right about the Comet gift-cards, I just got there in time!!
