hey all,
dug out lamb mince (hubby made koftas and they were very nice tyvm) and a whole chicken today from freezer - chicken for tomorrow. Hoping I don't need milk as not wanting to go to C&C as butcher getting over-friendly now (and got loads of meat so don't need more!)..
Bought big bag of chips this week from Nisa on good offer so that took some freezer room up.
Could do with a bit of planning this week to utilise well - we have lots of HM meals in there atm.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Went to Tesco with all my vouchers and did quite well. I got two lots of Quaker oats for 50p a box with coupon, two jumbo always packets for £2 with 2 £1 coupons (on offer 2 for £4 and had two £1 off coupons), four boxes of Greens, McCains chips, Five beans and some other stuff - came to £59 but I only paid £41 so result!! Part of what I bought was stuff to send up to DD in University tomorrow - her Dad is going to visit her.
Also the finest bacon on the meat counter was 10p a rasher so I got 40 rashers and froze it when I got home - thought that was quite a good bargain, plus they had loads of fresh strawberries and blueberries reduced to 50p.
Made old fashioned mince in the slow cooker for tea and it was really nice - I just used mince, carrots, onions beef stock and thickened it with Bisto powder, just like my Mum used to make!
Just made some supper by putting two croissants from the freezer in the slow cooker on high for 30 minutes - they were lovely and hot and crispy!!
Hope you are all having a good weekend.Jane

I'm curious, completely off topic I think - but I keep seeing people writing abbreviations like the post above.
Whats DH, DD, MH and all the others stand for?0 -
Jane, I like the sound of the Quakers, I'm going to investigate the coupons board, with winter coming, sounds like what I need.
Lynsey don't apologise, everyone loves your postsLose 28lb 3/28lb

DH is darling husband (or in my case FH flipping husband lol) DD is darling daughter, DS is darling son. Don't know what MH is but MIL is mother in law.

Off to the cake & bake show today and very excited.

Morning all.
MH?? Maybe HM - Home Made??
Just toast for breakfast (already fed birds with bread and seed). lol
Stir fry later and possibly just snacks - depends what I find later.
Out most of day, but would like to visit Morries as the Heinz 5 beans 50p offer ends today!! I'll try Sainsbury's at least and just after cheap bread stuff really, but I'll take a peep.
I won't be shopping as much this week .................. I don't think anyway!!
biscuitmad - enjoy that show.
Have fun, catch up tonight.

Afternoon,
Lynsey, you can't stop posting. I would miss to many bargins, I don't get time to find them now.
I am down to just 1 and a half freezers now and I have just pulled out 2x cheese french sticks, cooked chicken. These will make chicken mayonaisse sandwiches for all the kids who are here, I have lost count lol. My son is rehearsing for a play and has the whole cast here.
I have also pulled out some pork for curry tonight and 3 pieces of fish to make in to a fish pie for dinner tomorrow night.
Cocktail sausages in the pan for snacks as well.
I am going to go shopping later to try to grab some bargins to fill back up a bit.
I hope everyone is well. x£36/£240

Afternoon all,
I've been reading regularly but haven't posted for what seems like agesI just don't have the time or energy in term time.
The one advantage I find is that I end up in Sains at 5.30pm or so which is mark down time in ours. I have definitely noticed prices going up lately and even the mark downs aren't too great. I've still found meat etc a 66% off but the fruit and veg is now 40p or even 50p at final markdown when it used to be 20p and 25p.
We managed to keep our market spends to £10 yesterday which is low for us but did spend £22 in B&M but £12 of that was wine and £3 was a presnt for FIL for christmas, also £2.69 for percol coffee - at least £1 cheaper than the SM.
I'll try sains this afternoon and see if there's anything worth having but really trying to cut down and increase holiday savings pot.
Have a good week all:DI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

we are in the process of moving ds1 into what was the playroom (and the garage before that!) so the room has to be emptied. This was where the food stocks were stored - OMG I didn't realise we had so much:eek: I said to OH we won't need to buy tinned/packet food for about a year. as for toothpaste and washing liquid/conditioner...
ds and OH are off carpet buying this afternoon. they might even think about popping into mrT for bargains. OH got a few bread bargains in mr S yesterday but that is the other side of town.saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200
