hi Everyone - pay day today, but instead of getting all my shopping done I ended up running round trying to get my iphone fixed - finally found somewhere but won't be ready until Tuesday! I went to Sainsburys and got two more tins of five beans and also some basics apples, bananas, tea bags, Linda McCartney cheese and onion plaits (on offer), milk, toilet rolls, dog food and cheese slices.
Will go to to Aldi tomorrow - apparantly you have to hand in all of your coupons before they start ringing up your shopping. Will stock up on some basics and get the olive oil, kitchen rolls, eggs and other bits. I will use the £5 off voucher and hope to keep the spend to around £30 after discount.
I have just over £200 for shopping and other bits until 15th September. the freezer isn't too bad but I do need to get some meat and frozen vegetables.
Squeena - so glad that you found your cat!Jane

Morning all, raining here this morning, but the garden is looking lovely (spend most of the day in it yesterday).
Jane - good luck with Aldi and getting as close to possible to a £35 spend - maybe take a calculator for this one. I'm just going to give my 2 x £5 coupons to anyone I see with a big shop.
Got a few shops to visit today and bits to buy.
NSD yesterday and need to top up spends to see how much I've got to spend today (trying to keep spends to around £25).
Toast for breakfast and cottage pie later (just need re-heated).
Hubby is having eggs on toast as still 6 eggs left and I'll be getting another dozen today from Aldi using 2 coupons.
katskorner - enjoy you holiday, you really deserve a break. Hope you get the weather in Torbay - enjoy.
Have a great Bank Holiday weekend and hope you all get in the "sun" .................. not as much as Prince Harry though. lol

Morning.
Edwardia what is a scrag?
Yesterday we went to. Greek restaurant, I had kleftiko, whic was a massive lamb shank and loads of potatoes! Had to leave most of potatoes and salad, this morning i still feel full.
I'm going to skip breakfast and have a late lunch, chips with either fish fingers or a pie, the rest of the pasta for dinner, q nice easy day, doing audits later, will take out the whole chicken for tomorrow's dinner, that should free up loads of space in the meat drawer.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Morning all -
Lynsey - that is so nice of you to give your vouchers to someone with a big shop!
I have just put two linda mccartney sausages in the oven with a few of the cheddar and red onion McCain wedges, which no-one likes except me, and when I've had that I am going to pick up my friend and we are going to Aldi and other shops. I will see if there is any of the offer cheese in Lidl but probably too late.
Last night I had a Linda McCartney Mozarella burger and it was horrible - really strong taste and funny texture.
Don't know what to make for tea tonight - I have meatballs, chicken breasts, mince and chops in the freezer so will have a think.
The weather here today is dull and hot - not the best thing if you're menopausal (like me!).
Edwardia - the stuff from Abel and Cole sounds good - I looked on their website and they aren't as dear as some of the organic sites.Jane

Hi everyone,
Thankyou for the views on the cheese. I will grab 4 blocks I think to grate and put in the freezer for cooking with.
Today I have taken out 2 sub rolls to make spam and cheese rolls for the boys before they go off to the match.
My daughter and I have pulled out some soup and a roll each.
Dinner is going to be home made salmon fish cakes with chips and mushy peas.
I will get the cheese tomorrow as I am hoping for a nsd today.
Kat, enjoy your holiday, you deserve it. x£36/£240

............... and what a result!!!!
There wasn't many with large amounts of shopping, but hubby noticed a nice couple of pensioners with a medium size shop and offered them the coupon.
They went through the till and believe it or not ................... their bill was £35.70'ish. :rotfl:
They were so happy and it put a smile on our faces, even the till operator had to smile.
They couldn't have planned it much better.
So hopefully we have cheered up a nice couple of pensioners in the Wallsend store today.
BTW, the olive oil is only 500ml and the "specially selected" one.
Aldi spends:
2 x olive oil £2.79 = £5.58
2 x 6 large eggs 99p = £1.98
2 x cheese singles 69p = £1.38
2 x chunky choc biscuits 89p = £1.78
2 x pesto 99p = £1.98
pack of mixed peppers = 69p
Used 10 x 50% off coupons and total = £6.99
Lidl spends:
2 x mild cheddar 99p = £1.98
2 x Branston 69p = £1.38
Olive spread = 99p
Total = £4.35
Days total so far = £11.34
Both pestos and 1 Branston for Sons hamper.
Probably try a "whoopsy" shop later for fruit and veg and any "goodies".
Going to Tesco tomorrow ................ maybe??
Jane - let me know what those Linda Mc plaits are like.

All salad and chicken OUT of the fridge. Officially have no lunch items now so will need to top up tomorrow or monday plus fruit and crisps.
Packet of noodles OUT of the cupboard.
Box of donuts OUT of the freezer. 2 bags of cookies OUT of the freezer. Box of shortbread finished
2 cottage pies OUT of the freezer.
Still doing well for not buying any evening meal related items0 -
ms_night_ryder - scrag is the scrag end from the lamb's neck and really it's a stewing cut. Autumn will soon be upon us
Jane - Abel & Cole best prices seem to be on non veg things and veg which isn't sold in supermarkets and odd cuts rarely seen in supermarket. Plus points are delivery only 99p and minimum order only £10. Had one Ocado order so far and want to try Planet Organic, Ecogreenstore and Goodness Direct.
Lynsey - that was nice of you :T I hope we get some sun later, cloudy here and was raining earlier. I adore Harry, very sexy
OH is doing us late lunch as we had cooked breakfast. Chicken thighs, smeared over with pesto and wrapped in prosciutto di Parma (Lidl) and baked in the oven with Kalamata olives and roughly chopped lemon chunks. Will be served with a sauce made by combining fromage frais with fresh herbs from garden and passata, gently heated. Coming up the idea was a joint effort.0 -
Good day here - will be a NSD apart from £5 for my Slimming World class this morning (-3.5lbs
) we're having a chill day inside as I am tired from my uni placement and the weather is grey anyway.
I find it is much easier to be creative with meals when we're both off so today we used up the rest of a packet of YS buns, and the rest of the fish fingers from the freezer. OH also had the last yoghurt from the fridge so it is looking very sparse now:
There is 2x cheese which was on offer at M's, a pack of lychees, YS asparagus, YS blueberries (they have a piece of folded kitchen roll in with them which I learnt from Ch4's Superscrimpers and works wonders at keeping them fresh), jarred gerkins/olives/mango chutney, butter, back up margerine (also Ms offer) and in the bottom there is the left over mushrooms from the market last week.
Quite pleased with that as there are only two of us so we don't need lots of fridge stuff which risks being wasted. Going to ALDI on Monday to get a couple of bits for the weeks lunches and we're sorted0
