Hi benjacksmum and summersun12 - I've found this thread really useful, although I don't seem to be clearing any space in the freezer as I seem to refill any space that I have made straight away!

sequeena - I'll swap a wide awake 1 year for a 2 1/2 year old who just doesn't stop all day!!

Great bargains Lynsey - I must get better with my vouchers, I used to be better, but I just don't seem to get them anymore. Must invest more time!!

Edwardia - thank you for the posts with the mince offers, I've found them useful, and as soon as I know what I actually have in my freezer I will be using them. I've ordered from Ocado before, I found their website a little harder to navigate than some, but their delivery was spot on, the drivers were friendly and I got exactly what I wanted, so was very impressed

NSD for me yesterday, and got some ys bbq chicken drumsticks out of the freezer for dinner today, to have with ys new potatoes and ys vegetables.

We went to a wedding reception last night, so didn't need to do dinner. Was nice to get out for a bit, we took both girls with us, so couldn't stay out that late, but it's been ages since me and OH got out together, he's normally always at work.

Off today to get some choc/gammon at Lidl, some bread flour at Tesco and not much else - I've got loads in at the moment! Will be starting my freezer inventory today for definite, I think it'll be an eye opener!

I need an alternative topping for fish pie - can I use sweet potato or will it be horrible?

I have the fish in the freezer but no mushrooms, large potatoes or cream.

    I do have:-
    small bag of new potatoes
    sweet potatoes
    frozen sweetcorn
    small amount of frozen cauliflower
    onions
    cheese
    frozen potato wedges

    Any ideas?

Do you have a food processor? If so defrost the wedges and blitz with a handful of cheese and a splash of milk. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and that would be lovely on top of your pie. I would add in a few handfuls of the sweetcorn with the fish mix. :)

No food processor or any kind of mixer/blender but I am pretty handy with a fork ;)

  • Morning all.

I haven't had lunch or brekkie, think I'm going to have the last 3 chicken wings, with some of the pitta pockets bought yesterday. Will Deffo make the mackrel parcels for dinner.

My pc has arrived yay! It came this morning while I was sleeping, delivered to my neighbor's, so I can start working on my plan In a nice new home office on Monday, the last thing I needed was the pc, I didn't use anything yet, so can't wait to hook it up, now instead of waking up and using.my laptop often in bed! I have a corner of my front room, my desk is next to the window, so i can now get some structure.to.my days.

Ok, so I have made a start, this is the contents of the freezer part of my fridger/freezer, I had no idea there was so much in there

My other freezer is much bigger, but it tends to the one that I stock things in, so although there is more in it, it will be lots of packs of one thing (hopefully). I tend to use my smaller freezer for odds and ends, etc

    Here goes -

    Chutney Chicken stock x 2
    Green beans 200g x 2
    w/m pitta bread x 4
    Frying steak 340g
    Steak
Pork loin steaks x 4 packs
    Rhubarb x 2
    Sweetcorn
    Liver 400g
    Baking Margarine 250g x 2
    Oven chips - 1/2 bag
    Onion rings - 1/2 bag
    Blueberries - 300g
    White wine ice cubes
    Peas - 1/2 bag
    Tapas - Chorizo x 5
    Tapas - Paella
    Tapas - Spanish meatballs x 2
    King prawns
    Scampi
    Pepper sauce
    Mackerel fillets in lemon/herb marinade
    Blue cheese sauce
    Chilli sauce
    Lancashire cheese - 1/2 pack
    Lincolnshire sausages
    Roast chicken x 2 packs
    Garlic
    Ginger
    Cocktail sausages x 2 bags
    Beef strips x 3 bags
    Beef mince - 1/2 pack
    Kippers x 2 packs
    Chorizo - 300g
    Chicken breast
    Diced turkey breast - 250g
    Frozen cherries
    Tuna fish cakes x 2
    Value prawns - 1/2 pack
    Smoked trout
    Naan bread
    Gammon joint
    Fish fingers x 6
    Sandwich steaks x 4
    Blackberries x 2 bags

Will do big freezer tonight when it is cooker, as it is in the conservatory, and it is baking in there at the moment! The food would probably defrost the minute it comes out!

I have also taken a large salt and peppered duck portion which we are going to have for tea tomorrow!
  • Was hoping for a nsd, just set my pc and printer up and the extension lead started crackling when I turned it on, so need to get a new one, will get one on the way back from Zumba tomorrow, hopefully Mr t sells them as I pass it on the way home.

Had the wings, 2 pittas and a beet, tried the value strawberries bought yesterday and they are hit and miss, wont be buying them again, will blend in a smoothie.

Wow, you've all been busy today..

This morning I went to a boot fair in the local park. I picked up a Turkish brass tea set for £4 and 10 x 1940s Penguin First Edition paperbacks for £1 each as they are worth more than £1 already ;)

Went to Lidl and got their yummy organic Heirloom tomatoes (200g for 1.49) and 750g Oakland organic carrots for 94p.I reckon Lynsey got at least £5 worth of the 17p chocolat, there were stacks of it in my local Lidl, didn't look like much had been bought.

Had pub lunch then nipped into smaller Sainsbury's in town centre and got YS organic milk 79p as well as Negroni prosciutto di Parma on half price offer at 1.99, 2 organic houmous on 2 for £2 offer, a couple of Higgidy pies, a pack of organic mixed peppers and an organic cucumber.

OH suggested looking up dog food on Ocado. I scoffed but the 6 pack Winalots Classics works out the same as buying 2 for £1 in Poundland ! So I've added that to order - must say impressed at how late I can edit the order.

cazj80 - like the white wine ice cube idea !

ms_night_ryder - glad your PC turned up !

Longships - I would mash either the potato wedges or sweet potato, top pie then when nearly cooked, add a generous amount of grated cheese to get nice crunchy yummy crust.
