dont think stealing granddads is part of this challenge!! ;) :rotfl:

Have eaten out of cupboards and freezers all day today and plan for same tomorrow!
Our freezer, fridge and cupboards are literally bursting at the seams- like others I think I have ignored the actual challenge and gone for the "how many bargains can I cram in"

We could save a lot of money eating it all! :rotfl:

    For dinners in we have:
2 x pizza and garlic bread
    2 chilli chicken breasts
    5 quorn burgers
    Pack of BBQ chicken
    Pasta bakes

and lots lots more but thatll do until at least the weekend plus leftovers for lunches!! ;)

I WILL keep out of the shops!

do you wanna borrow my hubby? only problem is you'd have to come here as he's a member of a gun club so would be no point him going to you :p he'll get you rabbit of you ask for it (he doesn't go out of his way to get it we've been married 5 years and i think we've had about 3 in the whole time) duck and phesant, and a few times a year you get him £10 he goes away for the day and he comes back with 20-30 fish, in payment of borrowing him you can be in charge of cleaning up and ther fur, feathers and blood he leaves in his wake.

Ended up with pizza and garlic bread for tea as i didn't get any spuds, not gonna bother with any now til thur, gotta lift some mince out for spag bol tomorrow, and i'm about to have a tin of rice pudding.

  • We are very lucky.

We live on a large farm so we grow 75% of our own fruit and vegetables- we plant what we can in bulk and store in large freezers for throughout the year.

We have cattle and chickens so we get our meat too- again we freeze for throughout the year. We get our own milk too.

I make my own bread. The only things we buy weekly in the supermarket is:

-Organic fresh apple and orange juice for the kids
    -Grapes, melon and oranges.
    -Baked beans

And that's it. But we don't eat a lot of "junk" anyway. We don't eat much cereal (we occasionally let them have a bowl of coco pops or something- but usually only on birthdays/christmas) pizzas or anything like that.

We feed 4 (sometimes six) adults, 6 children (soon to be 7), 4 dogs and 3 cats for less than £1000 a year.

Evening everyone. I seem to have spent quite a bit today, not all of it YS I confess! My local Tesco doesn't have the organic whole milk for 80p  they have barely anything (and it's not a particularly small store either!!) and I'm getting fed up of it!

    I did manage to get YS;

    Strawberries (value) - 85p
Fresh egg noodles - 15p (originally £1 so good saving)
    Prepared mango - 59p
Tuna sandwich (was starving!) - 65p

    Total - £2.24

Also ended up getting cheddar, yoghurts, whole milk for T, salami, bread rolls, small loaf of bread (kingsmill I think about 500g for 50p), semi skimmed milk, raisins (pack of 8 whitworths rainsins for £1), scotch rolls and pepsi max (bogof) in Tesco.

Then I went to home bargains and b&m :o mostly snacky stuff in b&m and a Thomas Tank DVD for T. Astonish surface cleaner, baby wipes, soap pads, bath sponges and boxers in home bargains. Not bad but spent more than I'd like!!

This week will end up costing more anyway as T's birthday party is on Saturday so have to buy the cake and nibbles.

tonights dinner (for me) is chicken breast, mash, veg, gravy and yorkshire puds. Mmmmm.

    Hi everyone,

Looks like you are mostly doing well! Some good bargains knocking around (which I will add to in a minute...).

Nan is not well at all. Her feeding tube is now out (we think she took it out) and the docs are not keen to reinstate it. They say her heart is very weak. She is hanging in there but not conscious most of the time. They have said that she is not going to get better. It is difficult.

    Changing the subject now.

Saw my butcher friend again at the weekend as took mom in to get meat. Ended up coming home with:
2kg lean mince beef - £3.76 (should have been £11.52)
3 large sirloin steaks - £2.83 (should have been £18.89 )
    2kg back bacon (33 large slices!) - £3.50
    Whole chicken - £2.50 (was £4.85)
16 very large (230g +) chicken fillets for £9 (was £20) and 8 are now stuffed, wrapped in bacon and in freezer to share as we couldn't eat a whole one alone!

so once again he comes good bless him - although he didn't have any good quality sausage on offer (actually I didn't ask! LOL)

Mom had a tonne of stuff really cheap too - pork chops, sirloin, rump steak, chicken breast, mince beef.....

I did spend much more this weekend than intended but there were some good wine and beer offers that will help us along nicely as well as fresh stuff that we needed. I was doing well with the July budget but blew it completely :o:o:o due to this but saved a small fortune in the long run so it was worth it :).

We had some of the steak last night with prawns and trimmings and it was lush. DS 1 and 2 both tried the sirloin and now want it for their own dinner. Good job I have loads eh?

The wine cost nearly £60 but got 18 bottles (av. £3.84 bottle) of good stuff that will last ages. :T

Today we took out three portions HM lasgane for the kids with HM garlic bread and thai chicken kebabs and sweet chilli kebabs for us with couscous and salad - very nice thanks.

Have lost 4 pounds last time I checked so maybe not paying attention and not stressing over a diet has helped! Too much else to worry about right now.

Tomorrow we need to dig something out for us but boys are eating at my brothers house.

Did a groupon meal with hubby on Friday night - ok mine, his was stunning but they gave us a £10 voucher over a mix up in there (they don't much like groupon). Also took boys out on groupon day out pass (season pass) today and that was excellent. Doing another groupon day out with them tomorrow - strawberry picking and animal feeding.

Praying for nan that another day we keep her with us without pain and discomfort. Also found out tonight that one of my good friends has lost her father (my son's best friend's grandad) so that is adding to it too. Tough times.

Love and God's blessing to you all. x
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

i'm not as keen on phesant and for that reason it stays in the freezer, more than once i've lifted it out and it's been frost damaged it's been in there that long and the dogs get it- which is silly cause there gundogs and of they start eating the game hubby will not be impressed lol.
