I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Edwardia - spreadsheets?? My "spreadsheets" are a free calendar and a notebook (probably from Wilkinsons). I'm more interested in the savings, but eat fairly well ................... despite liking both chocolate and crisps ................... oh and cakes ................ and sweets. lol
Soworried - I have a lot to learn also, lots doing better than myself - which is inspiring. I should concentrate on NSD's like Florenceem, but like hunting for bargains.
Bargain hunting has become "habit forming" due to the "challenge" though - I WILL NOT FAIL!!!
optimistic - I/we used to laugh at some of the "bargains" my Son thought he had. When we visit him, he always seems to spend loads on veg (he's a veggie) and thinks he's got real bargains. He does, or did, buy from some of the more expensive markets and buys expensive cheese etc. To be fair though, he does buy more "exotic" veg stuff - not just basics like myself (potatoes, carrots and onions and a few other bits).
The one place I miss this year is M&S, especially for their cake offers.
After the next 5 weeks of being frugal, I think I might treat myself to some M&S stuff.
Sad to see the death of Geoffrey Hughes (Binman Eddie Yates in Corrie many years ago).

I think I'm going to run out of freezer food (meals etc.) by sometime in September, but I always think that then have a "fill up the freezer" session. Wonder what it'd be like to actually empty the thing?! Could I even manage it and start from scratch?!
I swear as soon as I post about my emptying freezer on here something happens that makes it fill up. About an hour after this post my Mum turned up with a bag full of whoopsies! Freezer back to full! :rotfl: Got me about 10 curries, various cakes n bits for lunches so not bad at all. I say its full but it isn't really - I've got a bag of whoopsied speciality bread, a bag of whoopsied speciality cakes, virtually no meat and half of the freezer full of meals and the basket full of bits and bobs so in terms of actually dinner meals, its probably half full.
One curry out, one naan bread out and one packet of Warbutons Sandwich Thins out (we ran out of bread so are making do with rolls and croissants and the unusual bread in the freezer). One packet of noodles out of the cupboards too.
Lynsey - you are doing brilliantly! Thanks for the encouragement from both you and Soworried (and everyone else) - I will join you in a challenge next year as groceries are going to be the place to cut our dwindling budget and I'll have more time to go out bargain hunting
Maybe you could have a daily/weekly meal price challenge - only spend on average £2.50 per day on all three meals or something?! I dunno?!
Think I might have to go out for lunch/fridge essentials tomorrow will try not to spend more than £25 (ha!).
Right - definitely on a mission to only buy lunch items, whoopsied items, items which can help to get rid of other items and make into meals (i.e. mushrooms to make up the bag of arborio rice into risotto) and nothing else until the cupboards and freezer are virtually bare (approx. September).0 -
I will join you in a challenge Ammonite, I fear I will lose though as I am just learning:rotfl:
We need to split it to a price per person though to make it fair.

I love reading about how much you've saved it's so inspiring
My freezers are also fit to burst, won't be getting any more reduced things in a hurry though I am finding less bargains lately. It would help if people didn't pile trollies with the stuff very annoying.
I should be asleep but I dislocated my knee joint this afternoon (I'm hyper mobile) and paracetamol and ibuprofen haven't helped so its still quite soreWife and mother :jGrocery budget

Morning, lovely bright start to the day here.
Sequeena - hope that knee eases. Bargains can be "hit or miss" and some stores do tend to have crowds around the reduced stuff. Luckily your freezers are full, so you can pick and choose as those gaps appear and won't need to pay full price.
ammonite - nice of your Mum to help you out.
Cooking beef now for later and just toast and coffee for breakfast again.
Might make some more scones later.
Sainsbury's later for bargains, but won't be disappointed if nothing of value.
Spend target for the week is £25, but could go higher if Sainsbury's accept 14 shandy coupons (large Sainsbury's later in week).

My freezer is so nearly empty! Fridge is apart from things like jam other long life stuff.
Had wild board burgers last night night out the freezer, and have lifted out the last packet of meatballs which will do me for 2 maybe 3 days. Going to cook them all in some sauce later and portion up to have with pasta etc for the next couple of days.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Morning
A poussin YS for 45p has come out today to make a curry. I have also taken out a gammon joint YS £2 which is in my slow cooker to make a ham and pea soup. The rest will be served with parsley sauce and chips tomorrow for dinner. We should have enough left for the lunches on Tuesday also.
I am going shopping today as I am running out of store cupboard items. I am not planning on getting anything for the freezers unless there are YS items too good to refuse.
I hope everyone has weather as nice as us.
