I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge
Comments

Dinner last night was salad followed by natural yogurt. Breakfast this morning was the organic special offer sirloin OH forgot with big pile of mushrooms, fried in goose fat
Haven't been hungry all day.
Am shortly going out to grab a Euromilions ticket before Olympics starts. No idea what to have for dinner0 -
Hi All, Been AWOL for a few days but not been near a shop in 7 days - even got OH to buy some milk so I couldn't go out.
We had no rice or jacket potatoes so I dug out the tin of emergency new potatoes out of the cupboard. Also finished a spaghetti hoops (Sainsburys own - not good, back to Heinz even at the inflated price they are much nice). We are out of normal bread by the end of this weekend - even the freezer bread has gone. My run of 15p crumpets is coming to an end too and I got rid of a packet of chicken kievs. Also 2 beef stews, 1 jerk chicken and a pork casserole OUT.
Just 3 chicken soups gone in the freezer.
Also been using up our endless stock of pasta for pasta salads for lunches instead of buying bread for sandwiches.
Think I may have to do a fridge shop at some point this weekend but we shall see how it goes.
All in all, the freezer has never looked this empty :T
Having the annual budget has been making me think a lot more, I've spent over £100 this month (that did include £30 stock up of bargain toiletries but still...) but still £575 ish to spend before the end of the year. I think I'm going to run out of freezer food (meals etc.) by sometime in September, but I always think that then have a "fill up the freezer" session. Wonder what it'd be like to actually empty the thing?! Could I even manage it and start from scratch?! :think:0 -
Well done ammonite :T
That is what I need to do, it has been going better the last few weeks but I'm still shopping when I don't need to.
Going to have a nose around the freezer now to see what to do for dinner tonight.£36/£240
£5522

Morning.
ammonite - got to agree with Soworried - well done and on track.
I've been and done my shopping early as Brother wanted a few things and that may be it for the day as nothing else needed.
Lidl:
1 pack of ground coffee = £2.24
2 packs choc biscuits = £1.98
Total = £4.22
B&M:
Pataks curry sauce = 49p
2 stir fry sauces (19p each) = 38p
Carr's water biscuits = 49p
crackers = 29p
Total = £1.65
Asda:
2 x cream cheese (50p) = £1
2 x small bloomers (70p each or 2 for £1) = £1
Oykos yoghurts - £1
Jumbo hot-dogs (dented tin) = 50p
Total = £3.50
Days total = £9.37
NSD yesterday as planned and got enough to see me through for a while.
Only spends today and tomorrow would be Sainsbury's reduced stuff (if anything irresistible) - otherwise that's it until Monday.
Week 30 ends tonight, so I need to tot-up last 6 weeks total and do weeks update later. Seems like a cheap 6 weeks really.
Had breakfast (toast) and using up last of gammon later, having a gammon and cheese omelette. Hubby is making stir fried rice.
Snacking the rest of the day.
Going to try the Lidl coffee shortly ......................... hope it wasn't a waste of money!!!
Have a great weekend - weather ok'ish here, just a little cloudy with a slight breeze - hoping for lunch in the garden.

Just for you then.
Weeks 1- 6 = £84.74
Weeks 7-12 = £126.69
Weeks 13-18 = £165.57
Weeks 19-24 = £113.86
Weeks 25-30 = £130.98
30 weeks total = £624.84
Weekly average = £20.83
22 weeks left leaving an average of £39.78
The last 6 weeks (25-30) have been higher than expected and second highest set of 6 weeks, but still only £21.83 per week average.
I would have loved to know how much the food I bought would have cost at full price (non-reduced). I would imagine I am getting at least £50 worth of food for every £20 spent. £50 would have been at the high end of my normal weekly average in the past though (just 2 of us) as I buy bargains anyway (non-whoopsies).
Frugal until the end of August and then just stroll to the end (thinking what if any challenge to do next year??).
I will bore you no more - sorry.
Took out some braising steak for "steak and ale" tomorrows main meal.
Next week I need noodles and sugar and top up the fruit and veg. Strange, but I also fancy frozen chips .................... crinkle cut ones .................... not too sure why though??
No planned meals.

I agree soworried - very inspiring and Lynsey I expect your son's food bill is more than a bit smaller thanks to your parcels every now and then.0

Lynsey.. if you're good at spreadsheets and such like how about seeing if you can get your recommended daily amounts of nutrients only from YS and special offer food ? If anyone can do it, YOU can !
Feeling somewhat tired today. OG opening ceremony was amaaazing. That boy soloing Jerusalem made me sniffle a bit. I walked back down the aisle with OH to that music (no words).
Maman et moi did darn good to get OH 8 days worth of food, but getting organic fresh food for me is difficult. All I could get in ASDA were organic mushrooms. There were loads of YS but nothing organic. Not seen it so quiet.
Walked thru town to Sainsbury's and there was a festival going on in sunshine. Lots of bands, dancers and street performers. Sainsbury's also quiet, lots of YS but nothing organic. Picked up organic houmous (mmm) and some Scan ethical Swedish meatballs (OK) for lunch plus TTD coleslaw (eww) and a Higgidy quiche (OK) for dinner.
I think there's a boot fair on tomorrow morning might have a look to see if I can get some books.
Got two numbers and a lucky star on Euromillions last night.. only got 2.80 !
Have a good evening all xxx0
