Beginning again today... third time lucky maybe!

I have boat a £40 shop which I had a £6 and a £20 voucher for so have used both of these.

I was trying to keep a tally of the cost on my phone so I could just get to £40 before heading to the tills but then I lost count by somehow clearing the total so had to guess.

Luckily it came to £41 so got all that for £14 or so.

My cupboards are stuffed and have lots of baked beans! :D

  • hi kitty_ears have you thought of this for your milk situation : wash out the 2 lt milk bottles and buy the 4pint ones then transfer the milk into the smaller bottles then place in freezer that way you save by the 2 for 1 at asda but have no wasteage we drink alot of milk some weeks but then not much the week after i used to do this reagualry when may kids were little as they used to go threw phares of liking cearal etc just a thought obisvaly wash out with cold water though as hot water could bukle the bottle x i love this thread always run my freezer down etc when pay low shame i have no garden now aas live in flat with OH
  • beachie try rounding up the items in your shop that why you never go over plus if nessacary at till get sub total on any treats at the end i have been doing that since i was married in 94 then with vigor when a single parent x
  • Used up hot dogs at lunch time & tonight I had some reduced courgettes that needed using up so added them to some noodles with frozen peas & sweetcorn & used a pad thai noodle sauce I'd had in the cupboard for a year! I was worried about not having any meat (I'm a complete carnivore!) but it was actually quite nice. I think the sauce made it & even better there's still some left over for another day. :)

I've been panicking about how my freezer & cupboards are looking quite low but I had a proper look again tonight & I've still got plenty in. It's payday on Friday & I've been dreaming about going shopping but I don't really need to. Decisions, decisions!!

  • Thought i would share this with you : if possible dont go shopping with children or OH (when married doing the weekly shop was my only child free time and you can think plan and count the shopping without trying to find the dummy they have chucked out or back track looking for the welly !) and then when at till try pulling out all the stuff they have hidden My OH is 40 and is nightmare hes a cookie monster and a veg phobitic ( we do night shifts at diff places so i do the shop on way home to save pertol etc plus i dont have a 40 yr turnin into a 4yr when he enters the asda shop (he has bypassed the veg section and gone straight to the biscut icecream alochol and the sexy pantie alise ) honselty you can see his head try to work out which one to go to first ! with me on my own we get what we need he gets his treats (biscuts ) but only the cheaper ones plus his pop (hes a HGV driver so needs stuff like that apparlty ) also if you have veg phobtic OH like i feel for u xx it haas been known that i have stood in the icecream alsie with him while he wondered over with a large tub of icecream and i say loudly you can only have that if you eat your veg this week !!!!!!!!!! yes he actually paused and had to think about it the looks i got off people in the alsie still makes giggle now so far i have mentioned 6 weeks on the trot with out him my cupboards are full with food not just stuff with sugar on it and we have a VERY large selction of veg in the freezer

So many of you are working yourselves up into a frenzy regarding food shopping this weekend, that I have decided to give it a miss myself. I get paid mid month so have had my little moment of madness and a bigish shop, and I can see the aisles will be heaving this Saturday. Maybe I do the dreaded house**** instead!

    I've been Money Tipped!
NO SPEND DAY yesterday (decorating nearly all day) - sadly few and far between as I can't resist the odd little bargain.
Lots of gaps now in the freezer and I'm beginning to panic like Jane, terrified they go too far down and I'll have to start paying full price again - IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Spag bol tonight and I'll make a garlic bread with a nan bread. Pork chops for tomorrow, still got a fair bit of pork. Fish and chips for Friday.
Toast for breakfast and some fruit and perhaps an afternoon breakfast for brunch/lunch.

  • I do need to get a few bits (veg, bread milk) but am going to try and hold off shopping until the kids go back to school. I have plenty of "meal makings" except that my elder daughter is such a fuss pot that I don't know that she will eat what I make.

I have currently got some sausages (defrosted) in the oven to make a sausage, egg and beans brunch and dinner tonight will be leftover cauliflower cheese and baked potato for me and chicken escalop with jacket potato wedges and salad for my younger daughter and I will make a stuffed pepper for DD1 - hope she eats it. That's all days food from freezer, fridge or cupboard!!

My friend brought me a cauli yesterday - it was HUGE and only cost her 50p for 2 from a farm out in the country near where we live. She also got a tray of free range eggs (24) for £2 so, when I do go shopping, I think I will go out to the farms and see what I can get.

Oh, yes I may be tempted to get some Branston B1G2F beans from Tesco - I may do that today as I only have £15 left until Friday so I won't overspend!!!
