Meatball pasta bake was lovely last night, rich and creamy with added cheese.
Pork joint has defrosted and will cook this afternoon. Found a last packet of ASDA Xmas pork sausage stuffing mix (20p) and will make some stuffing balls.
Stir fry with some of the left-over pork for tomorrow and some sandwiches as well.
Spent a massive 79p in Sainsburys last night (nothing for the freezer), just fruit and veg and got:
Cherrys (£2.50 per pack) - 2 packs at 10p per pack = 20p
Cantaloupe melon (£1)- 19p
Vivaldi potatoes (£2 per pack) - 2 packs at 10p per pack = 20p
Sugar snaps (£1.50) - 10p
Cabbage and leek mix (£1) -10p
£12.50's worth at Sainsburys silly prices, for a bargain 79p.
To be fair to Sainsburys, I find them by far the best (quality wise) with reduced items. Their fresh stuff is nearly always in top condition and most/some stuff has not even ripened - the stuff still lasts for ages. The meat/fish (packed) from Sainsburys is generally of a higher standard also.

My Sainsburys never reduces things to silly prices - they always do half price at best and then after a while a SA comes along and throws it all in a big waste sack. I have asked if they will reduce it more and I was told that the manager wouldn't take anything down past half price!Jane

We ended up going out for dinner on thurs (treated by OH's grandparents) and also OH ordered takeaway last night!
So ribs that i defrosted the other day will be OH's dinner tonight, and i will just pick at things. We've got a pie in the freezer thats been there for a good 6 months! so going to cook that tomorrow with some potatoes and veg.
Going to see if i can stay away from the shops next week, if at all possible, we've got lots of bits that will do for my lunch and will need to get inventive with lunches for OH too, If at all possible i'd the freezer cleared by payday so I can start to get it in order for winter as that is when our money is tightest, If i can stock the kitchen it will make it easier on us!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

The thing I seem to run out of (apart from loo roll - don't get me started on that...) is milk. I use a 2 litre Cravendale every day, and sometimes more so I reckon I am spending over £10 a week just on milk! I won't buy the cheaper stuff though because it goes off quicker and means that I can't buy enough for the week in one go.
We have the same problem... and it's only Mr.Kitty & I! I use to buy £1 4 pinters from Farmfoods & sainsburys, only for them to go off in 2 days. ASDA have cravendale on for £1.50 at the moment, so I got a couple last night. Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0 -

Our sainsburys never reduce either while Morrisons reduce all day long! Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0 -
Kids are out for the day at Blackpool fair so it's just me to feed today. I have just been picking at stuff and now I feel a bit iffy because I haven't really had a meal but have had little bits of all kinds! I had all bran for breakfast (has been in a lock&lock since I don't know when as no-one really likes it) with a banana on (only at e a bit of it becazus it is rank!), and for lunch I cooked the last of a packet of oven chips and had it with a last rasher of bacon which was a bit of a weird combo! Then I found three digestives in the tin and made smores with them using marshmallows and a bit of chocolate - no wonder I feel sick!! Still it's been a NSD as ex-OH paid for Blackpool for the kids. Tea tonight will be some minted pea soup left from yesterday with a roll and some findus cheese crispbakes which have been in the freezer since before Chirstmas!! Not a terribly healthy day so I might have some plums later!! I got a big box full in Tescos yesterday for £2.
Have got my sister coming to stay next week for a few days and she eats for England, but I am determined to keep to freezer and cupboards!! She is bringing me a dozen double yolker eggs from Bury Market so that will be good.Jane

I think I'm pretty lucky at times in Sainsburys, though they have stopped reducing their store baked bread - was only ever at half-price anyway - though some of the very large stores still reduce bread sometimes. But the fresh stuff is not reduced as much. I'm happy with the one store I normally use, great kids there.
I laugh sometimes when others are buying reduced stuff at 50% or even less than 50% reduced, when I know what can be had.
It will probably stop eventually, well perhaps ease off - but "make hay while the sun shines" - and it's been shining all year. :money:

didnt do very well on staying away from the shops - i just can't resist the waitrose reduced items, such great quality products for so little!
Just bought some balsamic and mint marinated pork chips (will have these tomorrow, instead of that pie) and some honey and mustard pork kebabs, also got some fresh raspberry cupcakes. total should have been £10 and i paid £3.02!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Bagel out the freezer for my breakfast, we've alot of crumpets in the freezer, so will start having them in the week too.
BIL is moving out soon, which means we get our bottom fridge and freezer shelves back! so more storage space, which will be a huge help.
Plan to head to waitrose at about 3 3:30 to see if i can get anthing else for dinners and some fresh fruit for my lunches.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted on here. I've been quite good & kept using up from the cupboards & freezer but I have also bought a few bits & pieces. I've only bought whoopsied fruit & veg, choc & crisps and some beer!
I've just looked in the freezer & have had a mini panic as there's lots of space in there. I don't think it's been this empty since I bought it & I have to say it makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't know why as there's still looooooaaaaadddddddssssss of food in the house!
I think I'm mainly worried because there's hardly any of my homemade ready meals left. I think I've got 1 tub of turkey madras and 1 lasagne left. However, I have frozen 6 portions of spinach soup that I made yesterday from 2 big bags of whoopsied spinach.
I'm getting really excited about Friday as it's payday & I can't wait to go around the shops to buy loads of stuff so I can spend the bank holiday weekend batch cooking. All I can think about is trying to find some good deals on meat for my batch cooking. (I need to get a life)
Keep up the good work guys.Aug NSDs: 18/[STRIKE]6 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]15[/STRIKE] 18
