I've just been looking through all the recipes I've pinned on Pinterest, marking the ones I've made (not many yet) and planning which ones I'm going to make next! Going to aim for one a week I think :-)

And I just wanted to say how nice to has been to find a thread with lots of lovely people who do the same sort of things as me, sometimes I think a few of my friends think I'm a bit odd for buying ys food, or that I shouldn't, so I try not to talk about it too much with them. :( Luckily I have some really good friends too who also look for bargains, and we enjoy telling each other what we've got!

I'm sure I registered with pinterest as I remember getting an email saying I'd been accepted but can't find it anywhere. Also requested an invite again the other week and heard nothing. Tried logging in but nothing again. Oh well, will give it another go at the invite.

I know what you mean with people being a bit funny about ys products. At my old work, when I mentioned I'd bought something really cheap my boss said she wouldn't touch ys products as she'd be unsure if it was off or not lol. Er... there's a date on them for a reason!

Mind you, she was a dozy cow at times. Said she didn't know why I'd got a 3 seater sofa if it was just me in the house.

Asda "Deal of the Day" thingy.
Don't think it will be brilliant, but some decent/good reviews.
I've seen them on the shopping channels. lol

Good luck with the ys'ing or "whoopsying", lots of extra things to buy due to to savings ............... like my mop, feel like it was free. ;)
God knows how money is wasted by people not "looking around" though, not just ys shopping, but those who may not have the time or can't be bothered to work it all out - the supermarkets must love them!!!

I was speaking to my mam at weekend and she said she thinks I get quite good money for being on income support. I said I cope partly because I haven't any debts, and getting into good habits with my shopping. I mean, I've still got enough comfort to last me til the end of the year at least, at a fraction of the cost! lol

I get enough to get me by. Not much more than that.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Lip_Stick - you seem to cope well. Good luck especially with the days away with your Son.

Had the melon, burger and part bake roll for lunch, that will be it until dinner, dont know what I will have, but I may have 3 courses we shall see.

Lipstick I think you do a great job, your ds doesn't seem to suffer, he's been to Disney world/ land, your always talking about taking him here and there, he most definitely doesn't sound like his starving, neither do you, people on income support could take a leaf out of your book and live a better quality of life.

Lynsey - thank you, will look at ordering it I think!!

Lip_Stick - I think it's crazy when I see what some people throw away, which is perfectly fine, just because of the date on it, or when I'm at the supermarket and the person's shopping is over £100 and it doesn't seem like they have very many bags at all. For that much, I would want so many bags I couldn't carry them all! But everyone is different and lives their lives differently, it would be really boring if everyone was the same. But it just annoys me when friends comment on what I do, when no matter what I think of their decisions, I don't tell them if I don't agree with it.

My children are 14 months and 2 1/2 and I stopped working in May this year, as after my work moved, and £1400 a month in childcare, I was pretty much going to be paying to go to work, and I wouldn't have seen my husband at all as he works lates and weekend. We would have had a couple of evening together in the week, and that would have been all, and the girls wouldn't hardly see him. So I have to live frugally, but I do also enjoy it, I think of it as a challenge, and I love how when I say to people that I budget £140 for the 4 of us, including cleaning, nappies etc, they seem to not believe me, but it means that I have a bit extra to spend with the girls, on days out etc, not much mind, but a little.

I also have enough Comfort for about a year, as I only use it on the girls' clothes and I got 4 1.2litre bottles of Fairy last year in Asda for £1 each, I've still got 3 and a half bottles left, as I was already using some Fairy I bought on offer! I won't have to buy any washing up liquid for a couple of years :rotfl:

Sorry for the really long post, I got a bit carried away!

Nothing out or in the freezer today. I cooked some hot and spicy chicken wings last night which I got out the freezer and we've had those for lunch with salad.

This is what I'm thinking of making tomorrow, and could have them warm with ice-cream, thereby using up the ice-cream in my freezer and making more space!

I just need to convert the weights.

I also used by £10 ebay voucher yesterday, I ordered a silicone mini muffin tray that I've been wanting to buy, but is a bit of luxury so hadn't bought it, and 100 icing bags so that I can put icing on my cupcakes, or on top of my little tiny muffins that I'll be able to make with my new tray :D
  • I think I will buy more milk, fruit.
I will save some expenses, will buy ready-made food in the refrigerator and used to spend a week, Just to save time.
I will buy online at cungmua, hotdeal because cheap and fast.

Lynsey - I've ordered one! It was available for in store pick up though so had to pay £2.97 for delivery, but I don't mind too much, I hate washing our floors with the mop, that I often don't bother, but this will make my life so much easier, especially when the kids get dinner all over the floor, instead of getting the mop out, I'll just whip out my steam cleaner - woohoo!

Had a bit of a good ys haul in Tesco Express whilst walking home from an afternoon out, I bought:-

    Sweetheart cabbage - 20p
    2 boxes of mushrooms - 25p each
    Whole cucumber - 20p
    2 bags of pears - 21p each
    English Muffins - 17p
3 bags of apple slices and grapes for lunches at the weekend - 13p each, (cheaper than a normal apple!)
3 boxes of cherry tomatoes - 25p each
    Mushroom stir-fry - 38p
    Bag of 4 bell peppers - 27p

My fridge is now full, but I can have some lovely salads and dinners for the next few days/week!

Steak pie out of the freezer today for OH's lunch. Gammon hock that I bought the other day in though as I don't want it to go off before I get to use it, and I need to use up the fresh foods first. Fancy making a soup with it though. The butchers I got it from also sells bags of pig trotters for 99p, don't know if I fancy those though...

Popped to tesco armed with my mini list and got just the things on it plus a huge tiger bread loaf for tomorrow, 2 pks spring onions at 8p each, 3 pks kids spaghetti and meatball meals - the really nice one not tescos for 32p each and that was it. Used a 50p coupon so cost £4.52. Happy with that.

kids had pasta with smoked sausage that needed using in the fridge with dolmio tomato sauce.

we are having two fish and chip meals from freezer (75p each) with a large tin mushy peas.

EDIT - no more news on Nan yet.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

cazj80 - used my mop today on laminate, tiles and on a rug (novelty value) and worked well. Not commercial quality obviously, but worth the money.
Well done on the bargains and also katskorner.

NSD today, but will buy tomorrow - hopefully not too much. Trying just to tick-over until Tuesday and then hospital food for a few days!!!
Got enough in for hubby for easy meals, hopefully he'll get rid of biryanis, pies and some fish and create some space. I'm going to write a list of priorities to use up. Some quorn stuff also needs using.

Took out some lamb fillet for tomorrow, probably a basic casserole, though only 1 large potato and some carrots left - onions getting low, but will last another 2 weeks.

Lynsey, hope all goes well with hospital. I had to spend a week in last year after having Erin, and whilst the food wasn't brilliant, it was nice being able to tick the boxes for what I wanted, and the food was better than my 2 week stay 8 years ago.

I'm looking forward to getting my mop. It's a bit sad the things I look forward to these days lol
