My dog is a bit of an escape artiat - has discovered how to push the screen door open with his nose. He then leaves it ajar for himself . Really annoys me when I find flies in the kitchen or he barks because the wind has slammed the screen door shut and he can't get back in the kitchen !

Went out to get some veg to go with the very last salmon steaks from the whole salmon I got at Sainsbury's for 14.27 in December. Found some TTD tenderstem broccoli 2 packs for 4 pounds at Sainsbos and was really nice, far tastier than the boring asparagus being sold now. Suddenly even English asparagus seems to taste of er nothing :(

Got 6 bottles of Evian there reduced just cos the shrink wrap was torn and picked up more Lindt Excellence 90% cocoa chocolate on the 2 for 2.50 offer.

Bought the movie 'RED' in ASDA (Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Ernest Borgnine, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich) for a fiver and it was good fun.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

    Not hungry at all today.
Toast with jam eventually and snack during the day.
Might have a burger later and make some wedgers.

Try Sainsbury's around 3pm for mainly fresh stuff.

This week need carrots, eggs, sugar, frozen sweetcorn and tick-over on bread. Crisps also if I get the right type and offer.
I'll have a look at some freezer stuff I've had long-term and try and use up.
Monday and Friday will be veggie days and one day will have to be fish. Meatball pasta looks likely also. There's also a chicken lasagne to use up from freezer. Quite a bit diced chicken too.
Wish I could meal plan for 1 week, but sadly useless.

Morning all. Slightly hungover here. Won't be having breakfast and not sure about dinner. Tea is a long way off so I'll think about that later. Think I'll be having copious amounts of tea.

Had a good night out but got pretty drunk. Can't remember the end of the film!! I know they all died except for one, can't remember how tho lol.

Walking home my ankle went on me, so I went down like a sack of spuds onto the opposite knee. And it happened twice!! So I've got one bad ankle and one swollen and cut knee. I'm now walking like I've got piles. :o

Think I may go back to bed after a few cuppas.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Oh dear lipstick , sounds like a fun night before the falling over tho! ;)

Lynsey - well done on the chocolate - was gonna go to lidl yesterday but stopped at mrt's instead and spent money there so may avoid the chocolate deal for this weekend (plus it would just get eaten twice as fast!!) .... Definitely lidl would have done the shop I did yesterday for probably half the price on a lot of the fruit/veg especially! Next month .... the challenge is on! ;)

Having a use up week this week after the shopping yesterday! cereal bars for breakfast today, lunch out and then roast chicken with salad and coleslaw for tea , leftovers tomorrow (plus will put some chicken in freezer for a curry or chinese at some point) plus taken out some chorizo from freezer to make pasta of some kind with! also taken out some cake from freezer and that all should feed us for a few days (plus visitors!) .

Will do a freezer/cupboard list at some point today and try and meal plan so we can cut down the shopping budget next month which is gonna be tight anyway due to various holiday-type expenses!

Have a good day all :)

Sounds like a good night Lipstick! :)

I bought some pork steaks yesterday in Sainsburys. Got 7 steaks for £4 which I thought was pretty good. I have put them in the slow cooker with a tin of mushrooms and will add a Homepride Creamy Mushroom sauce later. Will eat 4 (guests for dinner) and freeze 3.

Cupboards are getting to the stage of old Mother Hubbard for me. Which in real terms means they are now just full rather than brimming!

I've decided unless I'm batch cooking for the freezer, I will no longer buy fresh veg unless I can guarantee I'll cook it and freeze it that day. Too much stuff gets wasted because our plans change and I'm fed up of throwing food away because I haven't had time to cook it. Same with fresh fruit really. Although they aren't as nice I'll have to buy tinned stuff for the moment as I'm so fed up of the waste of fresh.

I have lots of sausages (I don't eat them, OH does). What can I do with them in terms of batch cooking apart from Sausage Casserole?
  • Lipstick - that sounds like a good night out, apart from the ankle and knee of course:)
Ammonite - I often use sausages minus the skins to make other things. Take the skin off, break them in four and you've got meatballs, or use the meat crumbled up to make a bolognese style sauce or lasagne. I like it as its already seasoned and I seem to find an endless supply of TTD ones YS for less than a £1.
Lyndsey - I'm with you on the chocolate 25 bars bought. I lied and told DH that I wanted it for school, whereas actually I have a nut free classroom. :rotfl:I've hidden it in my stockpile in the garage and will sneak it back a few bars at a time into the kitchen.
We had my PIL over for dinner last night and had Smoked haddock rarebit (a bit of an experiment after seeing someone make crab rarebit on TV), chilli with Mexican wedges and pavlova with strawberries and cherries. I used two packets of mince from the freezer and a bag of wedges from a voucher, so three things out but I have a tub of mince mixture I removed before adding the beans to go in. I aslo used two tins of chopped tomatoes, a tin of chilli beans and the last jar of chilli and tomato pasta sauce - I can now move onto the ten jars of lidl sauces I have. It was all very good :D
We've finished the rarebit mixture for breakfast and I'm going to make quesadillas with the leftover chilli for dinner tonight so will hopefully use that up.
I really, really need to get my chest freezer down so I can empty the upright freezer into that and defrost it, I also want to keep sends as low as possible as we're saving holiday money for our two weeks in Corfu in five weeks time:D will go to Sainsbugs at 2.30pm and see what they have fruit and veg wise but must not buy anything for the freezer (unless I really want it :o)
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

  • Well been to Sainsbugs and got loads: apricots, bananas, aubergine, blackberries, satsumas, limes, ready prepared brocolli and melons all at 20p each. they had actually started the final reductions at 2pm just when we got there. they had loads of everything today. I got three or four of most things, should keep my friends at work going most of next week as well.:) The only freezer stuff I got was a large loch trout fillet for £6 (a whole kilo), I've frozen it in two bits and we'll have one sometime this week.

    That's not a lie, just a little fib. ;)

Well done on your Sainsbury's bargains, my local store hasn't been great of late - shame as it used to be excellent. Only reall bargains at the moment are on bread and cake type things.

Lip_Stick - what are you like!! Hope you are not too sore.

    Sainsburys bits today:

    4 x packs of tea-cakes from £1 to 10p = 40p
Pack hot cross buns from £1 to 10p = 10p
Organic wholemeal loaf from £1.22 to 10p = 10p (again for birds)

60p spent for £6.22 at full value.

Still need carrots, may have to pay full price  , but wait until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Not 100% and off food, so just snacking. Never made scones, but had hot cross bun with jam and clotted cream - it was lovely.

Maisie M - well done again with the meal planning .............. I'm not sure what if anything I'm having later. :o

I'm sure I've got some chocolate somewhere, maybe a bar of that. lol

Took out some Quorn fillets and rice out of freezer for hubby to make a curry with tomorrow (veggie day). I'll decide tomorrow what I'll be eating.

    Evening all

Spent most of the day in bed catching up on sleep. Blinking knee is killing me so that's kept me awake. Ankle isn't too bad. Think I'll wear my trainers tomorrow. :o

Ended up having some straight to wok noodles with the rest of the tom yum paste. Can't have been that hungry as only had half. Can't be bothered to have tea either, will probably snack before bed.

Need to buy mayo, salad cream and tomato sauce at some point.

Ds' hospital appointment tomorrow so will probably have lunch at the cafe there while ds is under. Think tea will be the lamb shanks from Lidl that need using up. Will write a meal plan tomorrow evening I think when I'm feeling more up to it.

Right, off to watch Dirty Dancing in my bedroom. Ds has taken over the lounge tv playing skylanders on the ps3.
