I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

  • Lip_stick - sorry about your fall - glad you had a good night out otherwise!

Well today I have made a real effort to climb back on the diet bandwagon. I had a protein shake (hm with no sugar) for breakfast (kids had a full english), lunch was liver and onions with about 5 oven chips - kids were baulking everywhere about the liver, but it was actually quite nice - so DD1 took herself off to McD's and bought them both a maccies - I was not pleased:mad:

Kids didn't want any tea but I have just had a little cottage cheese, lettuce, red peppers, tuna (will use rest of tin for tomorrows packed lunches for the girls), tomatoes and pickled onions with a hard boiled egg and a little heinz light salad cream. I am actually quite full after it and I don't have the craving for carbs which I sometimes get if I eat like that. Anyway... it's amazing how quickly calories add up - I haven't eaten a lot today but still I've had just on 1300 calories!! I use an iphone app called calorie counter (free) and it is great because it has almost every food you can think of and it also tells you how much fat, carbs and protein is in everything when you add it to your menu.

had no need to buy anything today except dog food from Aldi, but funds are dwindling anyway as I don't get paid until a week Tuesday and I have about £100 to last until then.

I am envious of all your Sainsburys bargains - ours never has anything as they only reduce to half price and then throw away anything not bought.

Maisie M - well done with the meal planning! Every now and then I do it but I almost never manage to stick to it!

Better go an chivvy up DD2 about her revision. She has just told me that she is going into "the garden of Gethsemene" tomorrow as her exams start. (Have I mentioned that she is a drama queen?).

We had roast potatoes, roast parsnips, beef/onion slice, gravy, asparagus, Chantenay carrots and onion for dinner.
Mr F has not been on his freezer expedition yet. Already have TITH out for tomorrow's dinner - had the slice instead tonight - busy listing on Eb..

Right, don't know who I'm kidding saying I've only spent about a tenner each week. Just seen the credit card bill and I've spent around £120 in two weeks. Seems I've spent a tenner to £15 each time I've been in but I haven't been in weekly...I seem to have been in 2-3 times per week.

I am going to the cash point in the morning and taking out £10. I will spend this and only this on food between now and next Sunday night. Maybe if I hand over the cash I will realise how much I spend? Should be OK on £10 this week as have most of the lunch items in, may need some fruit and margarine and milk but that should be it. Plus if it comes to more than £10 I'll have to put some stuff back. Got plenty of food in stores and in the freezer to eat so I will truly try and stick to this £10. Wish me luck, I'll be taking inspiration from Lynsey and going Yellow Sticker hunting :D

Wow, everyone gets such lovely bargains! I clearly have a lot to learn :) though my best bargain lately was a red velvet cake from Mr M. Meant to be £6 but I got it for 99p plus 10% discount as OH works for them :)

On Sundays we don't usually go out but we decided to go to Lidls and Mr M. Didn't really get any bargains as all the reductions were gone but in Lidls I did pick up blueberries for 79p!

Happy Father's day by the way. My OH wanted whiskey so I got him that and did this for him http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/600698_4278985858049_725914749_n.jpg nothing fancy but he likes it :D

ETA: Dinner was reduced pizzas and OH just finished the last of the left over bolognese :)

Love the card that you did sequeena - bet that brought a smile to "daddy's" face!!
I defrosted some chicken breasts last night for tea tonight and a cheese & onion pastie for my lunch. This morning I have taken out some pork stir fry meat - have a meat delivery coming on thursday so need to be able to get that in the freezer - not looking too good at the moment!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

ammonite - good luck with that tenner. "Whoopsie" shopping is easy when you are already stocked up and need nothing/little, no need to pay full price and can go for 70%+ off bargains. Just keep topping up and amazing some of the "new" foods you try when they are reduced, but would never pay full price for. My whole year (shopping-wise) so far has virtually been targeting "whoopsies", Lidl half-price weekends and using coupons.

Sequeena - sweet little pic. Your OH should know the best time for "whoopsies" in his store and that 10% staff discount is a bonus.
I wouldn't mind hubby getting a job in Sainsbury's as "reducer" - he could text me when there are some decent bargains and personally reduce them for me. lol
Actually, this happens sometimes in my store. A lady comes in regularly and hands reduced stuff to what is family member/friend and gets them reduced further. Good luck though and nice perk.

Lip_Stick - hope the hospital visit goes as planned and you and Son gets a glimpse of the torch.

Hopefully back on food today, I did snack late last night and very nearly opened up a bar of chocolate ................... still 30 bars though. lol

Veggie day, though actually had no meat yesterday!!!
Toasted hot cross bun for breakfast and possibly cheese toastie later. Hubby will have Quorn curry.

Looks like no shopping for Brother today as we've picked up stuff from Asda and Lidl for him during the week and he's got bread - may have to do a mid-week shop.

    Have fun.

Morning all, i havnet had a chnace to read threw i will later tho, i've really over spent last week so this week i'm hoping to get by on £15 i have no bread, milk or spuds so thats my first port of call, followed by cheese and butter on offer in lidl, that should come in about £15 and i will avoid tesco at all costs.

Small side note but i've been buying tesco bread as i've been picking my mum up from there, and i've found it goes off really quick, DS3 has just feed over half a loaf to next doors chickens as it was mouldy, i find lidl bread lasts so much longer and is cheaper.

i nearly forget the meal plan for today looks like

breakfast-apples, oranges and grapes, with pancakes, i had an orange and i'm gonna have a pancake in abit
lunch- pittas (from the freezer since i have no bread) with homemade egg mayo
dinner- chicken casarole (already cooked from the freezer will heat in the slowcooker, with mash and whatever veg i can find in the freezer.

dinner for the rest of the week looks like

tue- ribs with chips and sweetcorn, kids can have sausages
    wed-sheperds pie
    thur- sausage casarole
fri- pasta (using 10p reduced sauce from the freezer)
    sat-pizza
sun - (lunch at in laws) small dinner, either soup or beans on toast.

    Morning all,
I am so impressed by your meal planning, just might try that. At the moment i have two weeks to eat as much out of the freezer and cupboards as i can. Moving on the 29th.
Why is it so hard to stop yourself from going shopping??? I am usually addicted to bargain hunting and stocking up.
My freezer is 11 years old and is going when i move thus i need to empty it. I'm planning to do a beef casserole in my slow cooker which will empty at least one drawer of veg, all reduced of course!

Morning all. Couldn't sleep at all last night, was coming up to nearly 4 by the time I nodded off. Must have been because I'd spent most of the day in bed, still felt shattered tho.

Need to visit a cash point before hospital. Purse is empty and I need cash for dinner and a taxi home.

ammonite - that's a bit of a discrepancy between what you thought you was spending, and the actual amount.

Sequeena - that gift for your oh was very sweet.

Lynsey - have you been feeling ok? I notice you've not been hungry much lately.

mongmoney - agree in that it's hard to not go shopping!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
