i have made the sausage casserole and used up loads of veggies aswell as adding a tin of butterbeans and a tin of brown chana beans. The slowcooker is responsible for the rest.

got to have a think about what to get out tomorrow. 12 ice lollies went on as Lidl had them at 15% off so I fancied some for me for once lol.

away for weekend with girlies so hubby will need to fend for himself and the kids and cats.

    First I received a letter - £25 Premium Bond win! :j
Then I am having a declutter - unearthed some vintage cookery books that I found in Mil's flat when we were sorting out over there. :j
There are 6 books but the most exciting one is -

    1942 - Feeding The Family In War-Time.

I will be trying out some of the recipes in the future - watch this space!
Doesn't take much to excite me! :o

I haven't read through the book yet so I don't know how many the recipes feed - as there are only 2 of us - I am sure some cooking will be going in the freezer!

How about breaking them up (shorts bursts in a food processor or throw in a bag and batter with a rolling bin) then mix with dried fruit, marshmallows, sprinkles- whatever you have really) and mix with choclate for buns? sorry i'm not very inventive thats what i do with all my old cereal.

ok not having gammon for tea, kids had ham in school so gonna do homemade burgers, with salad instead, gonna make abit of hm coleslaw for mine aswell, will keep the gammon til friday.

Thanks that's a good idea and the kids will prob enjoy making it.

Evening all. Made the mistake of going to the Wednesday market and spending a shed load, mostly on treats for ds. Spent a few quid on fruit - grapes, strawberries and cherries. Also bought some oat biscuits and various sweet things to keep ds happy. Ended up having a Lincolnshire sausage sandwich from a van in the market while out, which was a bit rubbish, especially at £2.30... I think that's quite expensive considering I can buy one from a proper cafe for about £1.50.

Will have the savoury mince for tea although not feeling hungry yet. Seems like I'm getting a cold, have a rough feeling throat and nose.

quintwins - hope you're feeling better soon, sounds like you've all had it rough lately.

Flo - look forward to seeing some of the wartime recipes.

You could try making them into nest shapes and get the kids to add those little choc eggs.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

evening everyone, well i seem to be playing freezer tetris at moment - took out a large pack of mince, which freed up some space, yippee - made a hugh batch of savoury mince, bulking it out with lentils, carrots, etc and refroze 4 batches and 2 batches of cooked lentils - so space gone - am tempted to get the lidl mince, but i know these offers come round all the time, so im going to resist and try to keep ploughing through freezer, as i want to make some room for baking some of the supplies we have.
    Quintwins get well soon

Out of the freezer today came - 2 small tubs of HM crumble, a half jar of curry sauce and 1 piece of HM syrup cake. In went - 4 pieces JJ's Herby Cheese Bread - in 2 tubs - result - not a lot of space!

We had roast chicken drumstick, roast potatoes, HM Yorkshire pudding, roasted courgette, mushrooms, onion and gravy for dinner.
