Evening all. Enjoyed tea tonight which was the meatloaf. Had it with roasted courgette, onion and mash. Ds scoffed all his. Got some meatloaf left over which I may do stuffed peppers with.

Had a nsd, may spend a little bit on fresh veg and fruit tomorrow. Freezer seems to have a little space in it now. Need to use the stuff in the big middle draw as that has a lot of cuts of meat in it which have probably been in there the longest.

Bed for me now. Not sure how I'll sleep after watching 'The Walking Dead' this evening!

Lynsey - hope you enjoy your holiday, and that the sun shines for you.

We had HM wedges with spicy baked beans and lamb kebabs in a roll for dinner.

Nothing to go in the freezer and just 1 HM cake to come out.

Hi all, I did the empty the freezer and cupboard bit, quite chuffed at the food mixtures I came up with, Hubby died and I still shopped for him, he had a good appitite as he was a keep fit type, but now have finally got out of the habit, what I am doing now is buying stuff that has been reduced, and making things out of it and putting in tin foil into the freezer so I always have meals and don't need to go shopping, its saving me loads and I have tasty meals without additives. Food cupboards only get used when the grandchildren come to stay, no problems on filled cupboards there!!!

Hi All again, thanks for kind thoughts, have still been buying reduced items and cooking off, am only doing it once a week and only have cooker on once a week, its saving me loads, have also been buying reduced veg and making it into stir fry and freezing, if herbs etc are put in it, they taste great after defrosting and just heated up again amazing what the reduced section has done for my purse.

Had my first spends in a week for £7.28, got the onions from lidl plus one of them living salads, 2x utterly butterly from MrM, 3 melons, big bag of bananas & 2x cucumbers from veggie stall, have updated sig. Dinner was chicken caserole done in slow cooker with veggies, all from fridge and freezer.
Lynsey Have a lovely holiday and hope the sun shines thanks for the rose wine tip.
Flobert sorry to hear about your husband. Well my freezer is a bit like a tardis - there is a bit of room in there now and yes i am coming up with some odd concoctions to use stores. Jumblejack on grocery challenge mentioned a Tortilla lasagne, so gonna try that 2moz as have tons of tortillas

Morning all. Been paid but since it's ds' birthday in just less than two weeks I'm not going on a spending spree. No idea what I'm doing for meals today. Probably have miso soup for dinner and pasta for tea.

Just need to buy fruit, veg and skimmed milk.

flobert, sorry to hear about your OH. :(

Flobert, sorry to hear about your husband :( x

I've taken 3 buns out of the freezer today for sandwiches for me and my husband. Mozzarella x2 has come out as well. Hoping for a no spend day so nothing else should go in as making pizza for dinner and the kids never leave any of that. :rotfl:

Have a great holiday Lynsey :j

must get my bum out to the freezer to decide upon dinner for tonight. Got out a large tub of turkey soup for lunch today and tomorrow so that has made some room (albeit small!). Not sure what I fancy for tea. Maybe something casseroley?

aiming for NSD but may need to get milk - gotta check fridge outside.

meal planning has gone out of the window this week - must get back on track.

Got stuff going on at the moment that is causing worry and stress so not really thinking ahead enough.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Been to Home Bargains and spent just over £4 on cockles, lentils and stock cubes. Also been to Asda and spent £17. Bought a storage container for cereal, 2 packs of lurpack butter with a free brownie tray for £3, cheese, onion rings, toms and cucumber, plus a few other bits.

The lurpack set is worth it when you consider the price of even the cheapest butter nowadays.

The kebabs were in the freezer from when Mr F used to shop. He had been on his own for 10 years so had to shop for himself. Took him a long time to stop shopping! I am in charge of what is bought now. The kebabs were not in the original packaging - not something I would buy but decided to use them rather than throw them away.
