lunch will be a sweet potato, baked and served with salad
tea will be turkey mince, that i did buy yesterday, with loads veg, and some tinned beans stirred in, i have a cupboard full of various tins of different beans to use uploves to knit and crochet for others0 -
Would it work if I sliced red red peppers and froze them as i have too many to use before they go bad?0

Hi rachelhen, does your son like spicy foods? (curries, chillis etc?) I have to be careful with things such as dairy/fats and I don't eat a great deal of meat so have found https://www.fatfree.com (hope I can post this) has some interesting recipes. I've just spent a weekend with a 'happy?!' rubber chicken so am looking forward to less meat this week (married to a carnivore though!
) Let me know the kind of things he likes and I can hopefully give you some ideas. Do you want 'complete' meals (i.e. just heat and eat) or would you be okay with a 'bit of construction' (assembling HM veggie burgers for example, or topping some soy mince with mash and adding veggies for a 'shepherd-less' pie?)
Cheers
Lizzie
Oh, and I've just had a very very very naughty two hours food shopping. I can't tell, as you might all ask me to not post any moreSometimes, I can't see the wood for the trees - or the couscous for the quinoa... 3 no spends so far for August 2011!0 -
Today I am using up some chicken goujons (bought when reduced and frozen) for lunch with lettuce and coleslaw and dinner tonight will be pork shoulder steaks with barbecue sauce which I made from tomato ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, vinegar and lemon juice. My freezer is quite full and cupboards are about half full which isn't bad for me!!
I have also stopped buying sliced bread as so much of it is wasted. I buy rolls and freeze individually which might be a touch more expensive if I can't get them on offer or reduced, but it saves so much on waste. I also buy aldi homebake baguettes which are a bargain at 39p for two. I also stopped buying bags of salad and just buy an iceberg once a week - lasts much better and while it mightn't taste as nice it is a saving as I was buying 2 - 3 bags of salad a week!Jane

Naughty yesterday.
Saw some reduced "taste the difference" slightly smoked salmon fillets (reduced to 99p from £4.49 per pack), so stocked up and now have some more fish (haddock also) and have a better balance of meat and fish now. Chicken steaks were only 99p also, great for stir frys etc.
Trying to be good this week and really stick to basics, milk, bread etc.
Cheese on toast today for breakfast with what's left of the bread and a chow mein ready meal for lunch.
Meatball pasta bake for later.

morning all we have no bread or milk until tomorrow afternoon, i made the kids porridge but i didn't really want any but now i'm starving and was walking around looking for food, i even checked the freezer several times but it feels like we have nothing in even tho we acually have loads, i very nearly went to the filling station for bread then i remebered i had some of those lovely part baked rolls hiding in the cupboard so now there in cooking and i'm gonna have a cheese bagette instead
kids can have pasta for lunch and were having breaded chicken fillets with mash and beans for tea, my freezers looking really good now but i ahve lots of stuff coming for it tomorrow, including 6 packets of bogof mince and 2 pizzas and 2 bags of crisps and 6 garlic bagettes and and a quiche is plenty of food
i only really have meat in my freezer now and we've used up all the muffins ect i'm gonna ahve to stick some bread in the bread maker today aswell
