ammonite - good luck with your diary, may help control spends.
cheerfulness4 - looks like a roasting joint and should serve 3 adults. Never tried them before, but they look nice.
Boot's were brill. I used 2 different tills and put through 2 deodorants each time. The girl was very good on 1 till and even said she would do the separately if they didn't go through together - but they did, twice.
Jane - milk bag offer runs until 22/05 in case you never noticed.
Weather brightened up tonight, thank God!!
Went in to Sainsbury's for some cheap potatoes, but they were only reduced to 79p, so left them!!!
Did spend 75p as I had some coupons to use up.
Got 1 free litre of Cravendale and a box of Quaker oats (1kg) for 75p (£1.75 minus £1 coupon) - so not a NSD, but very near.

Thanks for the support guys. Think the problem is I buy things (that I need and use) when they are on offer so key items turn into bargain shopping. Today my washing powder was on offer so bought two... £6 I hadn't planned to spend. But better than buying it at full price? Definitely. Same with the bread, didnt need any but was on offer so filled the freezer
Doesn't help when budgeting though! Hope my little experiment will help nd that I can keep it up!
Thanks for help with the puff too.. Will get it out and see if it seems ok, the creamed mushrooms sound yum.0 -
Lynsey- those naan pizzas look amazing! I must give that a whirl. Got lots of mozzarella frozen away.
Just had a tub of mixed fruit in apple juice from my pantry I found. Remains of an old AP foods order from last year. Was really nice with a little evaporated milk that was l/o in the frideg.
Found another 2 tubs plus a smaller one so I'll save those for evening treats when I fancy something sweet.
Also found my last tub of pineapple chunks from the same order. Will try and work in chicken kebabs soon and that will go nicely on the skewers with some onions, drizzled in the last little bit of honey.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Hello, I am back, I can see you didn't miss me lol. I am worried about Edwardia though. I think you should stay - we need you here and you can't let the trolls win!
Weekend was excellent - lovely site with fab little farm shop with great fresh veggies and meats - bought purple sprouting, carrots and fresh 77% sausages. They were lovely thankyou!
We will be going back as felt like a million miles away but only took us 35 mins to get home - fantastically excellent!
Spent a bit since I came home. Been to Mr T once (£9.98), Aldi twice (erm I think £30 - ok some of that was fushcias and no I am not eating those!) and Lidl once (£7 ish I think).
Freezer needs another shove in the stop filing me direction ( I blame mr T yS the other night). Had chicken fillets with bbq sauce tonight (well technically not had them yet as they are not ready yet) and kids has mini pizzas and smoked sausage and corn on cob all from freezer. Tomorrow they will have chicken burgers and rolls from freezer and we may have chilli but it will defo be from the freezer whatever it is!
Sunday I am thinking pork chops with M&S traybake sauce I got cheap or a bbq - weather permitting that is!
I hope everyone is all ok and keeping to budgets? xx
edit - hubby just dug a loaf out of freezer for brekky tomorrow - golden flax and honey mmmmmm sounds interesting with boiled eggs!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I had a lovely rummage in the chest freezer. Bacon baps have been requested for breakfast tomorrow morning, I knew i had some rolls in the chest freezer, i found them at the bottom along with three pork tenderloins i forgot were in there. Bacon was taken out of the freezer in the kitchen, both are now defrosting. Boys have requested cheeseburgers for lunch so the rest of the rolls and bacon can be used up on them.
Lynsey - those naan pizzas look fab, i have read about the idea, i shall certainly give them a try now.
ammonite - thats a great idea for a thread, i wont join next week as all meals are planned to use up the stash of hm leftovers from the freezer, payday for me next Friday so after a small shop, i shall see then. so much stuff in my freezers from a long time ago, i think i would struggle to work out the cost.
katskorner - glad you had a nice break.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

Oh dear! I made two crumbles with a tub of plums out of the freezer plus three sticks of fresh rhubarb. Now what do I do? I can leave some in the fridge but need to freeze the rest. Fitted in the freezer - one portion of HM shortcrust pastry by removing a HM cheese/onion pastie for Sunday's dinner. I also got a tub with a day's portions of HM salmon quiche in that freezer. The other lot of HM salmon quiche went in the big freezer.
We had HM salmon quiche, HM chilli wedges and roasted vegetables - mushrooms, onion and red cabbage for dinner.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Morning.
Clear skies today for a change, but looks chilly!!
Up early and ready for the Lidl run, my Brother wants a few bits from the African "event" and I think that there will not be many pork loin joints, so need to be "knocking on the door" at 8am. lol
Bacon sandwiches when I get back.
Meatballs today (eventually decided) in the pasta bake and I'll take the chicken en croute out later for tomorrow. Trying not to buy much more fresh stuff now and Groupon meal on Monday night will help.
Veggie day completed and last one until after hols - something I won't continue after end of June - I'll just go with the flow.
Both freezers are "stupidly" full again, or will be when I get the pork loin joints in!! I could easily save a fortune if I started using the stuff I've collected, but useless at meal planning - much better at buying and finding bargains. lol
I'm putting myself on a strict £25 max per week budget until the end of June from Sunday, 27th May after I get back from hols. Wishing my life away, but I'm really looking forward to the 2nd half of the year as budget has gone as planned - probably just slightly better and I'm actually amazed at the amount of stuff I have - probably more than Xmas on certain things - only the "goodies" have vanished (apart from the 1 Xmas pudding!!).
A special treat today - a box of fudge from Lidl and may also get the chocolate coated raisins ................. easily pleased.
Have a great weekend and may the sun shine on you.

Sometimes it's the small things. A few months ago I was thinking 'I'll treat myself to a new bag' when washing out something like a sandwich bag for the umpteenth time. Just then I got a text message from a friend saying 'just treated myself to a new bag' - but hers was a Radley or Orla Kiely or similar :rotfl:. Sad thing is I probably got as much pleasure from mine
.
