Do you mean there are folk on MSE having a go at those who buy YS? If so - shame on them! What or how someone chooses to spend their money is nobody else's business.

    HERE you go :D

Hello all! My Mum has to be the cheekiest person ever for "scaffing" as that awful poster calls it. She hovers by the bread and the boy/girl with the price gun and asks them to mark them down for her! They usually give in :D Good on her!

As for picking up bargains...a lot of the food is amazing quality at a bargain price. Benefit Buffet indeed. How rude - wouldn't get quail at a benefit buffet would they!

Anyway, back to important matters at hand......I'm going to take a proper inventory of the freezer. Because I can't reach the bottom easily, I've gotten lazy the last 2 weeks and eaten all the junk food instead of the healthy food. I can't remember exactly what is "down there" so if I make a proper list, hopefully that will help me to plan meals a little bit better.

I'm positive there is some Christmas turkey still there :o

LOL Thanks gallygirl, i had a right laugh at that thread, cant take these people seriously.

I had the last of the bacon joint i made in sc, with a m&s reduced pitta, put them both in the george forman, it was yum, finished off the last of the b&js andhave taken ot the haddock pie and the last pitta, to have tomorrow, need to put the lidl bacon in at some point, i now have a bit of space in 2 of the drawers, think that i am going to live out of the freezer for the rest of the month, i want it empty as i want to do a costco shop at the end of the month and stock up on meat etc, stuff that i like and will use, after the freezer is full i will then top up with whoopsies etc as i go along.

got some lidls carrots to use up along with some petit pois, im out tonight at a party, so i want to eat well before i head off to get drunk.

i need to throw away the last slither of lasagne as i didnt get to eat it yeasterday as i ate out and was so full by 6pm, i didnt eat anything else for the rest of the night, i may take out the chicken legs in cola for tomorrow and do the last of a reduced pork joint, im going to slow cook it in bbq sauce, the first half i done didnt tast nice the next day, so im hoping for the best, that should last a few days, with some coleslaw on some bread or rolls etc, i now need to start getting into a routine with my cooking.

Old girl bit confused here - are you saying that you developed diabetes from eating potatoes/pasta/bread or soya mince?

    In a word, yes.

When we eat starchy carbohydrates, our body turns them into glucose, a simple sugar used to power our cells. When we eat table sugar (sucrose) half is dealt with as glucose and the other half (fructose) can only be dealt with by the liver.

Long-term, fructose in the amounts/way we consume it, is toxic. Food laws only cover acute toxicity ie immediate not chronic ie long-term toxicity. The branched amino acids in soya are also difficult for some people to deal with.

Glucose is the energy of life, everything on the planet uses it. When the body can't process it though, you have too much in your blood and start getting sick. Whether you can process it your whole life depends on your genes. If we all lived to 120 though everyone would have diabetes.

Inclined to agree with him and it does seem quite biatchy. Turning YS into proper meals is cool. There's nothing wrong with getting YS stuff.

My concern is when the fact that something is cheap is deemed better than something healthy. I've been flamed on another thread for saying that. I still think it's appalling to tell someone feeding themselves on value/basics fresh food to start buying out of date processed stuff from bargain food companies through the post instead.

Very informative Edwardia, my dad has suffered from diabetes for 20 years now and it has always been a worry to him that my sister or i could suffer from it.
Oh has been fed now and had pudding. He has agreed now that he would not be able to eat two large meals and is in fact snoozing as i type. Gammon is in the freezer along with the rind of a joint of pork he come home with as it was on offer. The pork meat is in the slow cooker with a made up bbq pork. We shall have that for lunch tomorrow with some hm rolls.
I shall then have to freeze the left overs. :o

Oops. My Approved Foods order arrives tomorrow :o. Mainly couscous which I will take to work & make up, and some cury paste. Last order lasted 16 months and it's the only processed food (apart from black pudding & WW sausages) that I eat so hope I am forgiven ;).

And surely a lot of that food would just be chucked if no one brought it, so it's less waste

Very interesting about the diabetes info. I was in a rush yesterday and forgot to bring water with me to the train station. Got a carton of ribena & was horrified that it had 34% of a adult's daily allowance of sugar in one cartoon  Horrifying.
