Not much movement in the freezer dept - just took out a muffin for my morning break.
We had barbecue chicken drumstick with peas/rice and side salad - celery, onion, red cabbage & tomatoes for dinner.

I really want to have another go at making JJ's herby cheese scones but no room in the freezer.

I wish I could figure out how to post pix - I can upload them to my blog but not here..strange..

Instead of tempting you visually as Florenceem does, I shall just have to describe dinner.

French free range quail (according to Gressingham website) from the freezer ..and the poor babes looking almost criminally underage.. were roasted in a mixture of Extra Virgin olive oil and walnut oil on a bed of julienned red bell peppers, echantillon shallots and organic leeks ..and accompanied by boiled carrots finished in unsalted Normandy butter. Le tout supplied by Monsieurs ASDA, Lidl, Morrisons and Waitrose :D

    :T Sounds lovely :T

:rotfl:Have any of you read the thread denigrating the people chasing (or 'scaffing' as they call it) YS goods - Edwardia I don't think the above is the type of menu they had in mind, I think you're all having the last laugh :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

Weather nice here this morning, hope it lasts.
May attempt the garden today if the grass isn't too wet. The rain hasn't arrived nor the late frosts. Tomorrow is supposed to be iffy!!

Finish off a pack of bacon this morning, so bacon sandwiches again.
Spag bol later and probably another gammon sandwich mid-day.

Check Sainsbury's at 3'ish to see if any bargains and that's it.
Last day of Morries cheap gammon ham today .............. but I've had enough. lol

gallygirl - one of the sad bits on MSE. Wish everyone took Florenceem's attitude.
it is all about what we choose to do with our money.

    Have a great day.

Morning all, great day outside, sky is blue & sun is shining. I'm having a bit of bother with oh, he thinks he is entitled to be served two proper meals today. His idea behind this is we have gammon steaks in the fridge & a nice big beef and mustard pie to use (hm not by me). He wants two large meals to use them up. I shall be forcing the gammon steaks in the freezer shortly. We will be using the pie for lunch with roasted veg and creamed spinach. He can have a sandwhich or something on toast for tea, with a slice of hm cake to follow,( which is normal for a sunday). Silly man the gammon steaks are huge and i normally cut them in half so the packs end up serving the 4 of us for two meals. Right i'm off to hide them from him, enjoy your day all & i hope you also have nice weather.

Morning all. Recovering from last night, don't feel too bad. The Indian hasn't killed me, yet. Weather looks ok-ish. Thin clouds, but not raining.

Today will be a nsd. Off to the folks for Sunday dinner, which will probably be chicken since we had the fab pork last week.

gallygirl, haven't seen that thread, is it still around? Have had a look but can't see anything.

abitofhelp - fingers crossed that you find a suitable stashing place!

Edwardia - Right click on the image on your blog and select 'copy link address' then when you're writing a post click the 'insert image' icon and paste the link address. That should work. Or you could try uploading pics with photobucket if you want different pics to your blog. That's how I do it.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Morning all, there's the usual Bank Holiday dull gloom here :(

Thanks gallygirl.. the quails, leeks, carrots, olive oil, walnut oil and red bell peppers were all special offers.

I haven't seen the scaffing thread. I'm not against buying yellow stickered food but after latest off fish from Morries and food poisoning from ASDA sausages I am a tad wary now.

It seems to me that supermarkets are putting on sale stuff they might have binned before and several people on other threads have found Tesco and ASDA selling out of date stuff at full price.

However, I do think there's an ethos on MSE that what you eat is less important than how cheap it is. I'm an ex-chef and used to grow a lot of my veg organically. Don't eat ready meals but was eating soya mince as cheaper than meat and filling up round the edges with potatoes. pasta and bread cos had our income been £10pw less we would have gotten benefits. Just doing that for four years, was enough to give me diabetes. I've had to cut out loads of stuff to achieve normal blood sugars and it's really difficult.

We have to do the best we can and I don't see how, looking back, I could have done better. But me getting diabetes was entirely avoidable and that makes me feel angry.

So yeah I do wonder how many people on MSE will get really sick from all the junk. It just shouldn't happen that processed food is cheaper than real food.

Thanks Lip_Stick, I'd gotten that far but as I don't have food photos on my website I couldn't put in an URL. I'll have to see whether my blog one works but not sure I'm techie enough !

Edwardia that's terrible about how you got diabetes, almost scary, I am terrified of getting it, so have decided to take a look at my sugar consumption, my mum had diabetes and died, the cause being diabetes, also it does run in my family but seems to jump generations, as ij my grandma doesn't have it, but 2 of het sisters do, out of 5 siblings my mun was the only child to have it. Out of my grandmas 8 grandchildren me being the oldest none of us have it yet. I think I am may get it if I'm not careful as I love sugar and am a typical pear shape, most of the weight on my hips and tummy, I am doing exercise to get it down, but really need to cut down on sugar, i have a sweet tootg :)

Anyway back on topic, will have a. Yogurt and a ham pitta, and haddock pie from m&s a whoopsie, with veg.

Do you mean there are folk on MSE having a go at those who buy YS? If so - shame on them! What or how someone chooses to spend their money is nobody else's business.

Old girl bit confused here - are you saying that you developed diabetes from eating potatoes/pasta/bread or soya mince?
