Morning all.... not happy with a certain sodpot, sticking his feet in my back then in my face before 7 this morning.

Why oh why did I think of going to see The Muppets. Not sure I can put up with that this morn. Maybe I can ring dad and get him to take ds!! hmmmmm. Well, least it's not the Chipmunks, their voices grate on me.

Really need milk, ran out of skimmed and not much whole for ds left. Also need veggies and sugar.

Going for a cheap groupon indian for tea tonight with ds and the folks. Looks like it's got good reviews.

Lip_Stick that must have been frightening for both of you ! Diabetes of both types starts with genes and if you have good ones you won't get it but any tendency towards laying fat down on the belly (visceral fat) = insulin resistance to some degree and the slippery slope :(

Yeah it was. She'd been ill for a few days while me and the folks had been on holiday. She'd got worse after we'd got back, doc misdiagnosed and told her to drink lots of fizzy drinks!!! When dad went to check on her at about 11pm he saw her collapsed on the floor through her window. Think she's just about getting used to the injections and routine now. Dad's also a diabetic, he's type 2
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Next year I want to find a better balance and relax a bit, ease off a little ............. but it is compulsive beating the system.

I think its this that keeps me hooked. We could spend more on groceries etc but its nice not to have to.
It really is. I was practically skipping out of Morries earlier with my 12p Campbells rice (courtesy of coupons) and my 25p Benecol yogurts (ditto coupons), not to mention my gammon ham at half price.

Then, to add the icing, I got some great reductions.

2x chicken korma - was £3.50, reduced to 65p each
    3x 2pk cheese & onion lattice slice - 19p each
3x pots sausage & leek pasta sauce - 25p each
    luxury chunky coleslaw - 25p
    2ltr apple juice- 39p
    2pk mexican potato patties - 19p

That looks like a good haul, I've never had much luck with Morrisons so have largely given up trying.

    Morning.

Off to Home Bargains and B&M's later though for hopefully cheap crisps and any other cheap "goodies".
    Lynsey

I'm also off to do the rounds of the bargain shops and see what's to see, but will pop into Lidls and see if I can get some pasta sauce.

    Have a good day everyone
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Morning all.. in my excitement over my improved blood sugar etc I completely forgot to tell you about the Morrisons fish.

A few weeks ago, one of us bought some YS ray for me for a lunch and it went straight in freezer. Defrosted in fridge, pan-fried in EV olive oil, started eating it, flipped over to eat the other side and got to the middle and nearly upchucked by strong smell of ammonia of going off fish.

Last time we buy YS fish from Morrisons.. as someone who spent a week in hospital on a drip after going out to a pub for dinner I know how bad food poisoning can get and for me, it's not worth the risk of getting it again.

You know it's bank hol weekend because the weather is cr*p huh ?

Think it may be NSD for us. Will be sorting freezer out later. Want to make bouillabaisse but any fish that whiffs will be chucked out.

    Morning all.

Going to have a yogurt, then I'm off out nails and shopping, I do pass a lidl and a big Asda, so may have a browse in there, I really hate shopping, but need an outfit for tomorrow, lunch will be out, dinner will be last of lasagne and garlic bread, hope the weather improves.

_pale_ Horrible. My mum stopped buying fish from the counter at our local sainsburys because we had gone off fish twice. Luckily no one ate it because it was so obvious but is a bit scary. I got YS pork from the shop at my uni, put it in the freezer and it stank when I defrosted it and looked a weird colour. I'm too scared to buy meat again from there!

Anyway went into Marks and Spencers the other day around 5pm, they were marking down their bakery section. Got some lovely bread rolls & a vegetable tart both 50p. The rolls were quickly devoured with goats butter

This has happened to me twice before with reduced ray at Morries so I came to the same conclusion and have stopped buying their reduced fish there. Had an off piece of cod there, too.

Got my cheese from Lidls and my pasta sauces.
I also bought some of their Premium Pork & Apple sausages and Pork and Herbs sausages as they had 30% off.
Not a huge reduction but we're out of sausages and those looked nice. I hope there are anyway. :)

Sent DH off to find some bananas and only noticed when I got to the till that he's picked up a Banana Plant instead. Said he got distracted and had always wanted one. :wall:
Don't think that will taste so good in a sarnie with brown sugar!

cheerfulness4 and lyra, wow quite surprised that both of you have had this experience too.

lyra.. goat's butter.. any brand recommendations please? I'm trying all sorts of fats and oils at the moment and I've had goat's milk but not the butter.

I've just had to put the heating on to warm the house through. I've felt quite chilly all day. Soup for tomorrow i think with some nice hm bread. For lunch it will have to be a nice roast. I have yorkshire puddings left over from last week & some slices of beef. I never got round to making the ricotta & spinach pasta bake so at least i wont have left overs to file away.
We too have had issues with ys fish, we bought some reduced prawns from tesco last year. We had to throw them away after defrosting, we tend to stick to ys steak & deli meats now. Also stirfry mix freezes quite well, well it cant do any harm at 5 or 10p a bag.
Oh has gone fishing today, so i expect he will come back with some plaice to freeze. He can fillet them himself.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    edited 5 May 2012 at 4:12PM
Spent a little today and don't know where my money has gone this week!!
Need to check later what I've bought and NO more shopping today.

    B&M's
    6 x WalkerMax cheese and onion crisps (50g) 20p each or 6 for £1 = £1
    5 x Walker cheese and onion crisps (34.5g) 10p each = 50p
    Total = £1.50

    Home Bargains
    6 x Kohinoor "India on Platter" meals 49p each = £2.94
    4 x Indi Grand sauce sachets 29p each or 4 for £1 = £1
    Total = £3.94

    Morries
    Gammon ham 50p per 100g = £1.30
Multi seed loaf (offer at half-price) = 57p
    Total = £1.87

    Days total = £7.31.
Weeks total £27.55 if I don't spend any more.

Those Kohinoor meals can be had @ 3 for £1 I think, but not at Home Bargains and we were already there. Veggie, so will help hubby on veggie days.

Ham sandwiches again, with crisps and cake with cream (2nd day OOD!!).
Making spag bol, but probably for tomorrow now and sort a meal out for Monday, maybe a small joint??

Weather has picked up here, had heating on but off now. Pretty sunny really, but not as hot as it should be.

No issues with Mories "whoopsied" fish, though all of mine has been packed from the chiller. Sainsbury's packed fish is where I get most of my bargains and their sell by dates are very generous, the stuff seems in great condition.
