The deed has been done, money exchanged and now the owner of another 10 Nescafe refills!!

    Coffee stash now stands at:
    14 x Nescafe refills (150g) 2.1kg
    1 x Nescafe jar 300g
    1 x Nescafe Black Gold 200g
    Total = 2.6kg
Plus some loose in canister and bits of fresh ground coffee.

I think I must have identical stocks to you, Lynsey!
Hugely relieved when I found the coffee promo had been moved to the other end of the store and was now priced correctly at £1.79. I too grabbed a bundle as I can't run out. It's the perfect start to my day with toast and marmalade. ;)

I think I'm easily going to save money on it especially as Lord Nelson peppermint tea only 69p a box in Lidl and very soothing. Supposedly good for the stomach too.

I like the sound of that tea. Never noticed it but must check it out in Aldi. ;)

florenceem - Sorry to hear about you husbands mother, too.

Eaten nothing out of my freezer stocks other than the reduced pizzas I put in last night. Headache has returned so they helped themselves today.

DH took me for a wander around the local charity shops today. Do love a rummage. :p Got some lovely tshirts for DH and DS and some great cargo shorts for our hols. (I have been blessed with a teenager that cares not where his clothes come from, just so long as he likes them. He liked today finds. :D)

My house smells like Whishy Washeys Laundry as my massive order from ebay arrived with my 2 years supply of washing powder and DW tablets.
Everyone who walks in says how lovely it smells in here.
So heavy (45kg in total) that we're fearing a hernia if we try to get it to the garage.
    Might risk DS. :p

    Put away for Xmas??

Cheers bud, just ordered one. Nice stocking filler for the little guy! Or may give it to him for his birthday.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

What order do you put the items in??
I've had 2 disaster so far........though the birds seemed to enjoy my failures!!!
I've been using 450g flour and 250ml water with a packet of yeast and a little oil. I tried 200ml water and 50ml milk and some butter and didn't rise!!

katskorner - well done with your shop, recover quickly though - too many ailments this year!!

    Lynsey
I put in milk + water mix - then marge - sugar - salt - flour - seeds - last yeast.

Change of plan for dinner. Mr F fetched home some barbecue chicken - so we had that - pastie will linger in the fridge for Sunday night's meal.
Freezer update - tub containing HM sausage pie out - ready for Monday so - we could fill that space with more barbecue chicken. So still full up!

  • I fell asleep in the chair and have just woken up at 1.35am!!

I make my bread in the breadmaker with (ingredients listed in order of adding to machine):

one and a quarter tsps of dried fast action yeast
    500g bread flour
one and a half tsps of sugar
one and a half tsps of salt
2 tbs oil (I use mild and light olive oil)
    175ml water
    175ml milk

I use the rapid bake programme and haven't had a failure yet! I sometimes substitute 100g of the flour with 100g oats which makes a nice tasty loaf, and sometimes I add an egg, but that makes it a bit cakey IYKWIM.

I think that the most important thing about breadmaker breadmaking is to keep the yeast as far apart from the liquid and the salt as possible.

Have just been doing my budget for the rest of the month and found to my horror that I only have about £120 left after tomorrow's food shop is done (Ocado order using free delivery code and the O2 £30 off code), unless and until I get paid - I'm self employed and am owed about £1000 in fees but clients tend to pay you at their leisure! Oh well, I have loads of food in (though the kids would argue as there is no rubbish stuff like pizzas, chocolate, oven chips, biscuits, ice cream etc). If I let myself dwell on it I get so mad as ex DH is on a HUGE salary (giant in fact) - oh best not start on that...!!

Lip-stick Glad you liked the Chuckle Brothers - I don't think you can help but laugh at them - I think they are hilarious!

    Florenceem- sorry about your MIL.

I just read about the horses killed in the National - I was really horrified and am never going to bet on it again. Sounds stupid but I have never really watched the race on TV before and it was shocking the way the horses kept falling. DD2 was watching with me and she got really really upset. I only live about 4 miles from the course and you should have seen some of the sights round here last night and tonight as the racegoers came home!

I need to find some Branston beans on offer - for the first time in ages I only have one tin in my cupboards!

Well had better get to bed - but I'm not tired now I have had that sleep!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

cheerfulness4 - how long do you think your coffee stash will last?? I'm going to monitor mine for 4 months (14th July) and see what stock I have left - should have an idea of what my annual consumption should be and then how much to buy when on offer. I've been drinking coffee for years and stock up, but amazingly don't really know how long a 200g jar lasts!!! Just keep topping up the canister. lol

Florenceem - thanks, best results seem to be when putting in the yeast last and not letting it touch the other stuff apart from the flour.

Jane - as Florenceem, keep the yeast away from liquid and salt.
Branston beans - 4 tins for £1 at Lidl this weekend only - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3897133

Grand National - it was sad and two horses killed last year also!!
Read last night that the two horses broke their legs and had to be "humanely killed"!!
Sadly a jockey also broke his leg.............not too sure what happened to him though??!!!!

This spectacle will continue and continue and horses will continue to be killed because it's a money-machine!!

Back to food, not hungry at all and probably skip breakfast. Pork to finish off (another dinner) and probably pork sandwiches tonight to finish off the pork - I wish they would only reduce smaller joints in my store!!!

Start of another weeks budget - thank God, got to try and be frugal this week and next. Need to make a list of basics and try and stick to it - could do with NOT be tempted this next fortnight!!

Nice day here by the looks of it, needs to warm up though.
Tomato plants are doing great, a couple of tomatoes appearing now (one just bigger than a Malteser). Beans also moving on, germinate very quickly and growing nicely.

Catch up later, away most of morning/day.

I won't say too much on here, I've already posted in the GN thread as I am very anti horse racing - but for the full shocking truth on just how many die, have a look at these stats, so many die all the time week in, week out but obviously only the big races get any media coverage of it so even one less person betting on it is good to hear :)

Anyway, back to food, have started with a banana. Wondering whether to go back to bed or stay up watching tv! after not sleeping for many days properly I am now really sleepy and need to catch up on it!

My mum has left a large selection of easy food in my fridge, salads, bulghar wheat, tart, fruit, houmous etc so I will have a couple of snack meals and lots of fruit and water today, not sure what yet.
