    Morning all

Well no plans for today as yet, with both food and activities. Really need to get bread, spuds and fruit sometime.

lyra - I like the sound of that mango chicken, plus I'm a fan of chicken thighs too. Let me know how it turns out pls?

Jane - I had my gb removed years ago, was 21 at the time. On going home, the taxi driver must have picked the only road which had speed bumps.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • got up today full of good intentions to clear out stuff and make a meal plan. I started the clearing out in my bedroom and the first thing I came accross was a Bunty Annual and a june and Schoolfriend annual. Those of you under 35ish will not remember these comics but I loved them and so have just [STRIKE]wasted[/STRIKE] spent two hours reading them - I had forgotten how good they were!! Bessie Bunter is hilarious and the Four Marys are still fab.

I have at least got the washing out and the breadmaker on the go, and I am looking for a recipe for a strada - I have some cheese scones that I got reduced and which aren't that nice, so I thought i would make a strada. I saw Nigella make one and it looked lovely so I have cut them up and will make that to have with the leftover chicken from last night for tonight's tea. Gave both kids packed lunches and I am going to have some veg soup which has been in the cupboard for yonks.

This afternoon I am going to do a full freezer and cupboards audit and make a meal plan.

Lynsey My Sainsburys is mid sized - it's not a local or anything but it isn't huge. I find that the best reductions are in the large Tesco Extra but you have to be there at the right time and they don't reduce at the same time every day.

    I've been Money Tipped!
lyra - hope you're fit and well, also everyone else suffering at the moment.

Kirri - got some seeds but done nothing with them yet, haven't sown any salad onions either (need to move, getting lazy!!). Got 3 or 4 tomatoes now, just the 1 "prize one" though. lol
Flowering well and hopefully they'll ripen better this year, bought a plant late last year and it was October before the ripened!! Planted 3rd Jan myself to see if any better, obviously ahead of last year and already nipped the tops off and only allowed 2 trusses per plant. Need to re-pot the other 6 plants soon, about 6 weeks behind I think.

Jane - must be down to Managers then!! I can never get Tesco right so avoid, though years ago when my son used to go football training we used to pop to another massive Tesco and get some great deli bargains.
Maybe I'll have to try Tesco again, but still remember your massive stash a good few weeks back.

Never spent a thing in Morries (just Brother's shopping) and Nescafe is no longer half-price at £1.79 - now up to £3 ............... work that one out??

while visiting parents yesterday they gave me some packet sauces, i dont normally like packet sauces but there are some cheese ones amongst them. i have taken some ham out of the freezer and will be attempting to make a cheese, ham, broccoli and pasta bake for tomorrow evening. i really dont want to shove them in the pantry on the other hand i dont want to chuck them away.

tonight I feel rough still. Takeaway was interesting. Special offer for Sunday so cost £15.50 for us delivered with 2 x starter, 2 x main, rice, garlic naan, poppadoms, dips, salads etc.. My food was hot (they said it was medium) and hubby's was very hot (he very nearly couldn't eat it and he can eat hot curry) so interesting. Not sure we will be doing another for a while though!

kids having leftover lamb roast dinner for tonight - not sure about us but I won't be buying anymore. Got a few fresh bits and bacon from aldi today (they are doing the extra lean back bacon for 99p instead of £1.49 atm - yummy) so got everything in that we could possibly want need etc!

Just not feeling well enough to care what I have tbh!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

couldn't find a Strata recipe so had to make it up and it turned out lovely! I sliced the cheese scones and then fried 2 onions and 6 chopped rashers of bacon in a little bit of butter and mixed it with 4 eggs, 125g of grated mature cheddar and half a pint of milk and a bit of seasoning.. I left it to soak and then baked it for 30 minutes. We had it wth beans. Was only leftovers but it was lovely. there is loads left over too.

Still haven't done an inventory but I went to Home and Bargain and they had special k with chocolate for £1.39 a box, so i bought three, and think I might go back tomorrow to get more as it is lovely!

Lynsey - I know you were looking for cheap corned beef but the cheapest in Homey B today was £1.79 - 24p dearer than Aldi.

Hmm, take aways are v. expensive, however, when needs must:cool:

Breakfast was porridge made from muesli. Sarnies for lunch as had to eat on the hoof between jobs today. Life will be more civilised tomorrow and will take something from the freezer to reheat. Dinner was bulghar wheat from stores with veggies in a kind of risotto thingy.

    Best wishes
