I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Hello everyone, I've been following the thread for a while but decided I need to join in on the challenge. My freezer is ABSOLUTELY packed full. I was supposed to be having a delivery of meat this week which I have already paid for, but have had to put it back two weeks as there isn't even room for a sausage!!! I had cleared some space last week and then saw some butter reduced to 36p so bought all 16 packs!! and got some plums reduced (again bought them all - now have 12 bags of plum compote in the freezer) - I don't usually see any reductions in my defence - just as well - so both times I have got completely carried away (oops!!!) seriously need to make some space now - must stay away from the supermarkets its the only way. I have defrosed a chilli con carne for tea tomorrow - sadly the space was replaced by the plums, so the real journey starts tomorrow. Sorry for the ramble!!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

I was so good today:D went into sainsbugs for stuff for school and bought - stuff for school and nothing else:D I walked past the half price TTD burgers and pork joint and hardly looked at the reduced lamb on the butcher's counter. Now I just have to keep this up for a few months:o
We got lots of fish yesterday at lots of money off in sainsbugs so had home made fish and chips with some cod fillets which were £4.50 a kilo, they were nummy.
Just had lemon chicken stirfry with marked down FR breasts from the freezer and lots of veggies. I only used half the bottle of sauce though so another half bottle in fridge:o Will try to use next week/
Leftover beef all gone in lunches, leftover cheesecake all gone
I find my best bargains in the great big sainsbugs near us. I think that the bigger turnover means more margin for error.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Evening all
Decided to share a tin of soup for dinner, then went out into the garden to set up ds' footy gear and have a play about. What a faff about making the goal was! Took me about an hour!!
Decided I'd had enough of football so went with ds to the pub for a coke. He had a play on the outside equipment then I spotted a friend and her children so he had a good run about on the field next to it. All hell broke loose when it was time to take him home for tea, he threw a right strop!
Made a quick pasta dish with red pesto and bacon with a sprinkling of cheese on top. Will have a look in the freezer in a mo to see what I can drag out for tomorrows tea.
Haven't had an Indian takeaway in a long while as it's expensive when you add the rice etc, at least with Chinese the rice is included in the dish here.
AlwaysHappy - welcome to the thread. Sounds like you need to be a bit strict with yourself lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Thanks for the welcome Lip_Stick - yes I do need to be a bit strict with myself - I think I have a compulsive personality, and see reduced items so infrequently go into overdrive when i see them!! I can't phone to put the order back again, so failure is not an option this time.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

AlwaysHappy - welcome to the thread, you have a serious problem. lol
Great bargains, well done. Hope you get more like that in the future............once you've cleared some space!!
NSD :j
First since Easter Sunday and pleased.
Got through another "Veggie Day", don't think I'll buy Quorn fillets again though!! Quorn mince is a far superior product, the fillets were just a substance and would have been very bland without a sauce.
Bacon out for sandwiches for breakfast and took out a prawn ring, so garlic prawns with salad. Not too sure what else, but some more space created.
Probably have another attempt at baking bread tomorrow. lol
Jane - I'll get that corned beef eventually, waiting for the right offer and buy a dozen tins, same with pink salmon - hope it's soon though as salad season big time soon.
katskorner - massive salmon bargain - well done.

Just realised I have done a whole week without chocolate!!!
Trouble is I still have so much in the fridge I'm not sure I will keep this up... (have given some away this week too).
Ended up having cream crackers/cheese for lunch, more fruit and pitta/houmous/salad/bulghar wheat for dinner.0 -
Kirri - ooh crackers and cheese - I haven't had that for ages - think I will have it tomorrow - i have loads of packets of ryvitas in one of the cupboards, plus a jar of Baxters Victorian chutney that's been hanging around unopened for ages too.
Katskorner - well done on the salmon. I might be really dense but what does YS stand for?Jane

Yellow Sticker = reduced.
Funny, but I have no crackers and was just thinking about them.
Nice snack on "Veggie Days".

We had roast potatoes, broccoli, carrot, leek and HM sausage pie for dinner.
Mr F got some back bacon out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner. In that space went some cooked mince for the dog - I cook a pack and give her half + freeze half - so still a full freezer. :eek:Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
