I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Recovering - I'll join you on getting back on the weightloss wagon. I am eating far too much bread and pastry for someone who purports to being doing SWorld.
Two crumpets with a smidgen of butter had already. Must get a grip.
(BTW - I love reading your posts, too. Especially when you mention what you're cooking and the baking bits.)
Was bad yesterday and succumbed to a chippy meal instead of making the cauli cheese (now todays tea). Had Spam Fritter & chips.
In my defence i was exhausted through housework all day but I'm well over two thirds through the spring cleaning now.
Got to get my Lenor for 68p a bottle tonight. Have 3 coupons so, if the SA play ball, I can add to my stock nicely. :T
For some strange reason my store has gone from being very anti-coupons to being very chilled out about them. When one wouldn't scan Supervisor told her to manually input and if didn't work to scan after taking money and give me back in cash. SA said :shhh: as it might look iffy but that I wasn't to worry as it their practice. Gave me a till slip showing it, too.
So cauli cheese for tea, crumpets for brekkies (just 2 to use now) and ham (gifted from mum) and salad with bits from fridge for lunch.
Must update inventories for food stocks tomorrow. My freezer is looking worryingly empty. Less than half full now and its a medium sized chest freezer.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Morning all
Went to soft play with ds and he had a couple of hours in there then we went to Asda as it's right near the KFC. Wasn't much in the way of whoopsies although I did get a couple of things. Had kfc after that. Don't think I'll be taking ds there for a kid's meal again anytime soon. The portion was tiny and it was more expensive than Maccy Ds. Ds ate it all and even pinched some of mine it was that small and he has a very small appetite.
Well my paypal voucher has been paid into my account so it's now winging it's way over to my bank. Will put it towards my new washing machine.
Dad's just phoned and we're off to the market, looks a nice day but not sure for how long it'll be like this. Ds is with his dad so don't have to worry about meals for him. Will get something to eat at the market but no idea about tea.
ms_night_ryder - I'd hold off leaving until you hear about redundancy, you don't want to miss out on a payout lol.
Jane - not kidding you had an expensive day!
Lynsey - how did you find those veggie sausages? Was it Linda Mc that you had? There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Lynsey - how did you find those veggie sausages? Was it Linda Mc that you had?
TBH, they were ok and did the job, had quite a decent brunch. Sainsbury's have the burgers (Linda Mc) on @ 2 for £2 and I'll pick up some of them shortly. Don't really know why we are being "part-time" veggies, initially it was just to cut down on meat products. Not too sure what will happen after this quarter though?? I don't find it cheaper as I can and do get lots of meat "whoopsies" and half-price stuff. At full price meat prices, then yes, savings could be made, but you still have to buy the veggie stuff when on offer!!
Impressed, well impressed in fact that you could cash in your paypal money...............don't waste it.
Trying NOT to buy any meat and staying firm so far, not been tested yet though. lol
Waiting until next weekend for the Lidl bacon, probably a few pack (3 or 4).
Using cash to stock up on stuff like coffee and need some tins of pears etc. Need to build a stash on non-freezer stuff if possible.
Have a wee look later and see what's on offer.
Haven't couponed for what seems ages now, may try and pick up on that from next week..........too lazy at the minute and thankfully offers are thin........so not missed much.

Morning all - it is a lovely day here today - really bright and sunny but still a bit chilly!
Lip-stick - I know what you mean about the KFC kids meals - I have always thought that KFC was more expensive than McD's - plus in the one by ours the chicken is always mega greasy for some reason.
Well the chinese I got for the kids last night was delicious (so they said, I didn't have any) but DD2 ate sooooo much and followed it by eating all kinds of bits of chocolate eggs that she was violently sick all night so I have been on vomit cleaning duty. I don't think the chinese was off as older DD is fine - DD2 is so greedy that I worry about her - I have never seen a kid eat so much. She has started to pile on weight since she turned 13 too, so I need to try and get her to eat a bit more healthily.
B&W bunny - I will try that with the veal - will serve it with new potatoes and salad, as I have loads of salad stuff that needs using up, and we have my bread and butter hot cross bun pudding for afters.
All the Easter eggs are now £1 and 50p each in Sainsburys by me - they have loads and loads left for some reason. I don't think I will buy any though, even though the TTD big ones are a good saving! BTW the Cravendale milk is on offer at 2 for £2.50 in Sainsburys at the moment - not bad when Tescos are charging £1.88 a bottle for it.
We haven't had any breakfast so I am going to cook a brunch in a little while. DD2 is still in bed so I won't do any for her, but DD1 and I will have sausage and bacon butties.
Cheerfulness - I am envious of your spring cleaning - my house is like sh*t creek at the moment because my hoover has been broken for two weeks and I have been waiting for Vax to send me a replacement under the guarantee. I borrowed a Henry hoover off my friend at the weekend but it was a nightmare to use - I was sweating after just doing the living room! New hoover arrived today so I now have no excuse!
Kirri - hope to see you posting again today and hope it wasn't too awful at the hospital.
Off to put together the new hoover!Jane

Back from the market, and just in time as it started peeing it down after I got in. Spent too much - £30. £10 of that was on a pressie for ds. Got him a football challenge kit which retails for £30, but by reviews it isn't worth that, so glad it was only a tenner.
Also got 6 boxes with 6 packets in each, of miso soup which I've tried. It's not bad at only 18 calories but don't think I'll be having it very often. Not bad for 50p for the lot.
Also bought washing tabs, some baked chilli biscuits (worked out at 2.5p per pack) which are nice, straight to wok noodles, light soya sauce, sushi nori, szechuan sauces, 3 no-touch handwash refills for £5, quiche and two bacon & egg pies plus other bits.
Lynsey - I have noticed you stopped couponing. I really think you should get back to it, so I get some good offers! Will try not to waste that money Lynsey, least I've no big gas bill or holiday due!
Jane - new hoover, lucky you! Could do with one myself but need a new washer first. The old one is white, so doesn't go with my other appliances! :rotfl: Actually it bangs about too. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Lynsey - I have noticed you stopped couponing.
Kirri - how are you feeling today? Hope you feel well enough for some food.
Jane - hope you get satisfaction from your new vacuum cleaner. My mum recently ordered a Vax for my sister, which will stop her from coming over and pinching my Dyson when she thinks I'm out! Now if she'd only do the same for her washing machine, I don't mind her using mine but it would be helpful if she asked whether I've got anything to add to the wash before switching it on....
Baked another panettone before work this morning, whilst it was in the oven I went through my food cupboard. Although there are lots of empty jars and a bit more space now that I've got through stacks of cereal, I couldn't work out why my condiment shelf was so packed out so had a little tidy up - and then progressed to my baking shelf, and then the rest lol. Most of it was in order, but it was a useful reminder of what I have got lurking in the back, and what I don't need to buy! Am pleased to say that I didn't throw out a single thing, it's all usable. (Even the packet of boil in the bag brown rice from 1999). Am down to 3*1L of long-life milk now, but that's enough for tea and coffee for the next 20 days.
Am chewing on the panettone for lunch, but I've got enough lentils, pulses and spices to keep me going for 6 months, but even I admit that would be a bit boring. Took a minestrone, and a spinach and celeriac soup out of the freezer to defrost, so I have a choice next time I fancy something hot.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi guys i've been mia for a few days, i thought i was feeling better and my head was clearing then my tummy got sore and i started being sick
, i'm not to bad now just feeling drained, been painting my new house and sorting stuff out that will need to be stored in others houses (like all next years xmas pressies) spent this morning running up a set of curtains, first pair i've ever did on my own, it went well til i relised they were to long because a bench overlaps one side of where they should sit, so had to take them up again, but since i had teh fabric and lining and header tape and thread it's like free curtains (not really it cost about £100 but that was this house and it was gonna cost £600 to get curtains made-note to self whne your building don't put in massive windows unless you wanna make your own curtains lol). Hoping to move in by monday
Food wise we had fish and chips last night using our tastecard so half pricewas under £7 for all 5 of us.
Today breakfast was toast because i was using the diningroom table for the sewing machine so there was no way i was letting them near it, lunch was baked taties with cheese and butter, dinner will be sausages beans chips and egg as i have another set of curtains to run up and a door curtain and hubbys gonna be away painting so a nice quick tea.
Can't wait til the kids are back at school, pity i can't send my youngest aswell :mad:DEC GC £463.67/£450

Thank you so much for the birthday cake and wishes !! Considers yourselves hugged (((((((MSE Babes))))))))
The Canadian lobsters defrosted in the fridge slowly over several days because no way was I going to follow the instructions and defrost at room temperature for 12-14 hrs. Told OH I was just going to chuck them this morning. When I snipped open the plastic to drain the melted ice away, one of them stunk to high heaven. The lobster in the plastic was still really cold to the touch as well. So I'm just not buying these anymore. I live close enough to the sea to be able to order a small fresh lobster for around £11 if I want one anytime.
OH raved over the slow roasted Lidl duck from the freezer which got used for duck salad. We made two batches of duck stock for the freezer, dawg got the giblets and he's got more for a big roll with mustard in front of a movie tonight. So yeah the 6.99 duck was worth it the lobsters weren't.
I took a ray out of the freezer for my lunch tomorrow (reduced, Morrisons). Noticed OH had taken out Gressingham duck legs out of freezer for tonight..he'll start quacking soon !!
B - boiled eggs
L - stir fried veg
Hope you're all well xx Ms_Night_Ryder, that would be great if you could start another business ! Hope Kirri is OK0 -
Lynsey - I have noticed you stopped couponing. I really think you should get back to it, so I get some good offers!VfM4meplse wrote: »Is that true Lynsey? You are supposed to be setting a good example here, don't let us down!
Consider my wrists slapped!!:D
Not much needed via coupons unless food ones come along. I'll try and get on track for next week, it hasn't been a great year for couponing apart from the Mission Control thing - already used and abused that one!!Thank you so much for the birthday cake and wishes !!
That Birthday cake wasn't one of those shop bought ones!! Oh no, did it myself using the "copy and paste" technique!!
Couldn't afford a shop bought one on my budget!!!
Bought a few things today, got some more Natures Finest trio fruits (1kg) from B&M's @ 49p each, got these a few weeks ago and clearance due to date (April 2012). Well worth a look and each tub does about 6 portions - lovely with whipped cream 98p spent.
Aldi, got some ginger nuts (29p), mushrooms (69p) and 2 lots of cooked meat reduced to half-price, chargrilled chicken fillets (89p) and roast pork (69p) - never really noticed meats at reduced prices in Aldi, but then again never really looked - only go in for bits and bobs, mainly the Super 6. Have to keep an eye out the next time £2.56 spent in Aldi.
Sainsbury's, bought my Sharwood's noodles (£1) and checked out the freezers for the pastry offers and bought 2 packs of Jus-rol vol au vent cases - 36 cases for only 75p per pack - £2.50 spent there.
Days spend so far = £6.04 and maybe more tonight, but only if Sainsbury's have mega bargains on fruit and veg, or possibly double cream - that's my targets.
Had a stir fry again with some of the chargrilled chicken and enough left for later, hubby had the smoked cod with peas and sweetcorn. He's having a salad with the roast pork.
Looking to spend more this week as trying to stock up and I'll get some more Nescafe refills and probably another couple of packs of noodles. Sainsbury's didn't have the Linda Mc burgers in, but trying a larger store tomorrow when out. Having a wee look in M&S tomorrow also, see if any nice bargains are available. I like the M&S strawberry conserve, but only ever buy when half-price.
Hubby got a great bargain in the M&S Outlet shop, a lovely pair of trousers reduced from £49 to £4.99. lol
I got a pack of gardening books (3 books and a notebook and poster) reduced to only 99p from £9.50 - got 2, 1 for a stocking filler. Loads of cheap stuff in the Outlet shop, but stood firm and resisted the bargain clothes and underwear!!
God, sorry for waffling!!

Hi all
Can I join please, have been lurking on here for the past couple of days and you all seem like a great group.
I have decided that as I can't actually open the freezer or cupboard doors as too much in there I'm going to use it up before buying anymore. Also really need to cut down bills as we are getting married in July.
Haven't been out today so haven't spent anything, dinner tonight is m&s whoopsied chicken with waitrose whoopsied spuds and veg. Tomorrows dinner will be chilli made from mince from freezer.
Hope this is an ok post.
