recovering - agree about black pudding. Never gone there before. Yuk!

Got some bargains at Morries again yesterday.

    2x bags Jersey Royals @ 19p each
1x white wine and cream sauce @ 19p
    3x Mr Kipling 6pk Angel slices @ 19p each
    2x big bag bananas @ 19p each

Its a sign of the times tho that everything seems to be 19p these days and not so long ago my Morries bargains were 9p at end of day. Rare to see that in mine now.

Its like MrT - used to get 1p bargains at the end of the day but mine seems to favour the 5p end reduction now. Thats inflation for ya.

Anyway, the Angel Cake slices (those individually wrapped type) and the bananas will come in good for pack ups this week.

Got 2 humungous caulis @ 2 for £2 on offer at MrT yesterday, coudn't fit both in the same carrier  so that will be cauli cheese tonight with one and jackets to accompany.

have some very dry bread which will make excellent toast with my marmalade and coffee for breakfast and I've some quiche left which will be nice with salad for lunch.

    Kirri- thinking of you. ;)

^ I haven't had Angel Cake for years!

Thanks all, I do wonder why I am putting myself through this, I could just walk away or not go!!!!

Just having a yoghurt before 7am cut off time, not really hungry but thought I should have something - had really bad night's sleep not surprisingly so I feel extra rough.

Best go and get ready I guess :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning.

Kirri - good luck, my thoughts will be with you all day.

cheerfulness4 - yes, Morries like to use the number 9 in "whoopsies" and 9p was not uncommon. My Sainsbury's reduce down to 10p (not all the time of course) and I've had some great 10p bargains in the past (pate, sausages etc.).
Others stores I have limited success (sadly), though Asda can be good on occasions. Most of my "whoopsies" come from just 2 individual stores and massive savings have been made.

The birds have woken me up early today with their "Dawn Chorus", they've been going "loopy" for hours now!!

Lip_Stick - I'm seriously not expecting to win a single thing, maybe I should try only for small value stuff in the hope of getting at least something?? I would have been happy with that bottle of ketchup. lol
You need to update your sig, the last win was a great one.

dawn1 - well done on cooking for the "masses" - that would have been "panic time" for myself!!

Good luck Kirri and get well soon. I hope you will be allowed home as soon as possible and be back with us here :)

Ms N, I don't know enough from your post to make a full reply but if the gossip is affecting your work or being done in work then it could be considered bullying in the workplace. Why not inform your union rep of the goings on so they can at least be aware of a potential incident in the making. Also, has your employer got an HR department? It might be worth having a word there too. Best of luck :)

DD coming for lunch today so have pulled out 4 portions of chicken stock and one of chicken bits from freezer. That and some leftover veg and some barley/lentil/split pea mix means its soup for lunch!

I'm off work this week and intend to clear at least one and a half shelves of the freezer this week. So no whoopsies being hunted and freezer meals to be planned. Should be some interesting combinations for dinner then, given some of the stuff that's lurking in there...

    Morning all

Today I guess I'll be spending since I'm taking ds out to soft play and having dinner out. Not sure whether to do kfc or mcdonalds. I don't think he'll be happy with kfc though once he realises he doesn't get a toy lol.

Need to buy bin bags today. Not sure what else, might buy a few nice things like chicken fillets so I can have something a bit healthier.

Peed of with my mam. Ds spent the night at his nanna's (his dad's mam) last Wednesday so was with her Thursday morn. She planned on taking him to a farm but it was cold so brought him back at lunch. Anyway, I saw my dad at weekend who told me he and and mum had gone out for the day Thursday. They'd gone somewhere where they knew I'd want to go and we'd planned on going out one day over the hols. Phoned this morning and mentioned about going to York to be told 'Well we could have gone out last Thursday'. Seems like she's saying 'well you let ds go out with his nanna when we could have gone out'.

Lynsey will update my sig now! There's a programme called roboform which helps you fill in forms quicker. There's a free version so don't pay for it.

    Kirri - good luck!

ms_night_ryder - hope things get resolved at work, don't let them get you down. x
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Good luck Kirri, the build up's always the worst :(
Ms_night_ryder, second going to a rep or HR, hope things get sorted.
Lip_Stick, my dad can be like that! Don't know if they do it on purpose or they just don't think

Had a lovely Easter lunch at a local pub on Sunday. Was pretty reasonable, had roast lamb followed by sorbet

Popped into the co-op last night as my mum asked me to get a few things, they had their truly irrestible bread marked down, so got bread rolls reduced to 25p & a loaf reduced to 44p. The latter was a bit more than I'd normally pay (!) but it's so good! My brother also got some of their truly irresistible fish cakes reduced to 99p...chrizo & cod?! Is it me or does that sound a bit odd...?

Went into Tesco afterwards (a metro, opposite the co-op) & their reductions were rubbish! All sandwiches, some 'reduced' to £1.20  I suppose they'd reduce them further as this was about 8pm. I rarely get a good whoopsie in there, think the last one was a pineapple reduced to 20p but that was months ago.

Doing a beef, bacon & red wine casserole for this evening in the slow cooker, probably with jacket pots. Made Nigella's cherry & chocolate cupcakes for my mum's birthday today & also made marshmallow cupcakes for her to take into work. Apparently one of her colleague's sked her if I was at catering college! Must need glasses because my piping has a lot to be desired but I find people are willing to accept things that aren't perfect when they know you've made the effort instead of buying things :o.
  • I'll be thinking of you today Kirri.
Someone was asking what to do with fruit mincemeat (I can't remember who) and I've just thought that I used some up putting a good spoonful in with apple (or whatever else) when making apple crumble and also made a bread and butter pudding with it. I made sandwiches with the mincemeat and then made as usual.
    HTH
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Kirri hope everything goes well and you feel better !

Ms_Night_Ryder, I third speaking to someone about boss. My OH is a manager but even so, his boss was caught out - when opening post in front of HR director, he spotted reference request for my OH. The boss got all grumpy, binned it and said I'm not letting him leave. The HR director told him he'd just broken the law by doing that ! Bosses don't know much about employment law in too many cases and looking at you disfavourably on the basis of gossip from someone else isn't right.

lyra i f you like coleslaw look out for the Co-op Truly Irresistible coleslaw it's truly scrumptious !! I think cod n chorizo is a Spanish thang.

It's my birthday and instead of being out on my way to lunch I've got sore throat, sneezing, ache all over, stiff neck and dodgy stomach :(

Going to use one of my myWaitrose vouchers later and do online shop.

The duck took FOUR HOURS to cook at Gas 7. Maybe my cooker is finally knackered ?? At least have cold duck for rolls for OH tomorrow. :)
