welcome biscuitmad! Glad to see you are taking up the challenge - good luck!

Today I had good coupon savings and managed to spend £1.40 in asda with £12 off in coupons and then £4.04 in my local Nisa for milk (which was on offer but isn't now so only got emergency supplies) and got loads of tyrrells crisps reduced and a packet of after eights also reduced - couldn't resist!

Lunch was turkey soup again - it is really really good and has fed five of us quite a few times so far and there is plenty left! Had it with tiger baguette from asda on their 2 4 £1 offer - yummy.

Kids are having giant hotdogs for tea and we will have something from the freezer - prob fish as getting fed up of turkey :)
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Hi Biscuitmad. Love the name! ;)

Supposed to be going to MrT but have a headache that won't shift so DS has offered to go for me with DH. Do I dare trust them with my precious coupons? :undecided
I only have one that expires this week so I think I could risk one, with clear warnings that they mustn't buy the product if the coupon is refused.
DH seems to have the knack with the self-service supervisors. I hear them giggling with him from the other end of the checkouts where I'm passing a few more of my stash across to a manned till. ;)

Stuffed from my cauli cheeese. Was delish.

Keep wondering how Kirri is doing.

Katskorner- green with envy at your brill couponing shop. :D Love turkey soup, too. How do you make yours?

Lynsey yer nutty :D but thank you..

biscuitmad.. as I'm a low carber you'll add balance ;)

katskorner I know just what you mean about getting bored with turkey. bought diced turkey thigh, and turkey thigh mince at Sainsbury's to use to make all those yummy turkey leftover recipes. OH bought more, in ASDA. Took until March to finish the last pack ! I use ASDA Smartprice turkey drumsticks to roast for OH for his rolls and the bones get made into stock for soup.

    NSD for me today.
  • hi Biscuitmad!

Edwardia I make low carb turkey mince thing which we call hurrycurry - it's super quick to make and tastes really nice - I just chop an onion and fry in a little bit of butter and when it is soft i put in a pack of turkey mince and fry until starting to go nice and brown. Then I sprinkle in curry powder and add a bit of lemon juice, cider vinegar and sweetner and then I stir through about 4 tbs of sour cream and a tbs or so of chopped dried corriander leaf. It sounds a bit iffy but does actually taste nice!

Have had a good day for using up stuff - sausage butties for brunch, and for tea kids had leftover chinese and I made a little bit of cheese sauce and put it over the leftover cauliflower and carrots from Sunday's roast and it is currently browning in the oven. I used the Sainsburys BOGOF west country cheddar and it tasted really salty so I hope it is alright.

Went to Tesco before to get coffee for my friend who is car-less at the moment - she wanted the half price Kenco rappor and i resisted the urge to buy stuff!!

Got my new hoover up and running - lets hope this one doesn't break after 2 months!!

Was all set for a NSD until DD2 came in a few minutes ago and asked for money to go and see Titanic with her friends so that is a £5 spend.

Still haven't cooked the veal so I will HAVE to cook it tonight and have it heated up tomorrow - think I might have to make a veal strogonoff as I have half a tub of sour cream and loads of onions and mushrooms.

    no news on Kirri?

recovering spendaholic - the hurrycurry sounds great. I've just started using cider vinegar as it's supposed to help stabilise blood sugar. I'm growing coriander indoors at the moment bu not big enough to use yet. I still haven't solved the no rice and don't like cauli dilemma tho.

I shove cheese over veg too but I've just discovered that by crushing roasted mixed nuts in mortar & pestle I can make em like breadcrumbs and mix with grated cheese to get a crunchy topping

Hopefully kirri is recovering today and will be back tomorrow ! Get well soon Kirri XX

biscuitmad - love the username also Katie-rose, welcome and good luck.

katskorner - which coupons did you use?? I need re-trained!!
Well done and great to see.
Not much to shout about in my pdf folder, just bits and bobs.

cheerfulness4 - hope your headache clears, what coupons are you using??

Jane - nice bit of improvising. Bit annoyed you didn't like Henry, I love mine. :D

Popped into Sainsbury's and not much reduced and not fully reduced, so walked away and settle for the £6.04 spend today. Tomorrow is another day, see what, if anything tempts me!!

Just had re-heated stir fry and it was lovely, into stir fry's at the minute. Been lazy and haven't made my soup yet, but definitely in the morning.

I was trying to use the laundry coupons from SSM. He kyboshed it. Knew I shouldn't have trusted them.
The till wouldn't scan the coupon with the on-offer Lenor at half price for £1.68. SA called supervisor who said it mustn't mean that type of Lenor  and swiftly went and got a little one for £1.99 off the shelf and scan that through. Coupon then worked. OH just accepted it and bought the little bottle paying 99p. :(
Why can guys not stand their corner like us girls. When mine didn't scan last time I just acted like I'd got all day while they sorted their silly tills out. I've learnt that they give me my bargain with the coupon or they can keep it and I'll try my coupon elsewhere.

Oh and I love my Henry, too.
Mum told me to buy one for years, even hubby did as they use them at work, but like the stubborn missy I am I went round the houses trying every other make at horrendous cost. Now Henry and I will live happily ever after. :p

    Absolutely, 100% agree with that.

    Glad you love Henry. lol

I've also got a Hetti, or had one!! Son and girlfriend acquired it!!
I was thinking of breeding them. :D
Henry has a hose and Hetti has a place to take Henry's hose. :rotfl:

Not originally my joke, but love it. I'll take the credit though. ;)

  • Hi Biscuitmad, we're all a little mad around here so you'll fit right in.
I hope Kirri is okay, I guess she's still recovering today.
Had a good 'mooch'. around town with my MIL today and picked up a few bits - crackers and dried fruit in H*me B*rgains and some Pizz*expr*ss sauce in B*M for my friend.
We went to Sainsbugs at around 3pm and did very well on the meat markdowns. We had three legs of lamb each, half price to start with and then another 50% knocked off so around £5 and £6 a leg. I also had two shoulders for the same and some £3 a kilo Shropshire blue cheese. MIL also had some TTD steak and a chicken but she has a way to go still in her MSE shopping training.:D There were loads of other bargains but she bought full price mince as well as she thought she might want spag bol for dinner. She ended up deciding to have some of the steak so the mince went into the freezer anyway. Much to learn she still has.
I also coupon and have a garage nearly fully stocked with cleaning and laundry type stuff after mission control but I have found the food coupons to be few and far between so far this year. The natur*l selection ones are quite good as you can get ginger, cranberries and apricots as Asd* for free, actually they pay you 5p to take them out of the shop. Unfortunately they're safe coupons so only 2 per computer. I had some of the wright's bread mixes but haven't used any since the charity stuff came out. I know lots of others are still using them but I feel bad about it.
    Sorry I've waffled on again:o
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Thanks so much for all the lovely welcomes.

I am just trying to plan a monthly menu from just the stuff in the freezer and its a nightmare, have to keep checking things in the freezer and then it beeps that its been open too long silly freezer!!! The freezer used to be sorted into set drawers but all got moved around to fit the xmas turkey in and now have too many whoospies in there to organise it so need to clear some so that i can then organise it properly! OH is being mean and will not let me get a chest freezer for the shed.

Had a lovely pudding earlier of fruit crumble made with loads of different whoospied fruit, my kids made the crumble so a huge pud that cost pence and kept the kids entertained for 10 mins!

Off to try and finish my menu plan!!!!

    Bye
    x

PS - im not really biscuitmad my 6 year old son is and i had just called him it when i was trying to think of a username. I have low blood sugars and have to watch what sugar i eat so dont actually eat that many biscuits unfortunately!
