Well done BE, sleep well tonight. lol

Popped into Sainsbury's, hoping for some Jamie Oliver fish cakes for 50p, but alas no - they were still £2!!

Did get almost £8 worth of stuff (full price) for only 50p - everything was 10p!!
3 packs of potatoes, 1 pack mange tout and a large 600ml carton of single cream - hoping cream lasts 2 days (today's use by date).

Not a NSD as planned, but as near as dammit.

Scraped through our "veggie" day and 2nd one Thursday.

    Welcome Hannah :)

BE Have a lovely snooze tonight. Worth the wait that bed i bet :)

Did a chilli con carne with lidle special offer mince tonight that was in freezer. Was lovely and bulked it out with a can of baked beans as well as the standard kidney beans. Also used a tin of tomatoes, 2 onions, 2 red chilli's. I estimate cost at no more than £5 cos all items were reduced/2 for 1 etc and it made enough for the 3 of us with 4 portions for the freezer. This then cancelled out the room made when I removed the mince.

Talking of freezer, I cooked a chicken for dinner yesterday that needed using from the freezer. Served 3 for sunday lunch and allowed a lovely space in the freezer. But...I then cooked the carcass in slow cooker and have twice the space filled in freezer with the stock from the chicken for soup LOL

Note to self: use up stuff in freezer that won't create more stuff when cooked! Fish fingers it is then !

    Evening all

Had a NSD today, which is good, because I had 12p in the bank! That's the most skint I've been ever I think! Least all the bills are paid for the month. Thank god it's pay day tomorrow. Won't last long tho as I've rat stuff to get, theatre tickets to buy, pressies to buy... and the list goes on. Damnit, Easter eggs too... *groan*

Had ds' ear appointment and he needs new grommets in as his have fallen out, so no wonder all I hear from him is 'What?'.

Will be popping to Asda in the morning as I'm having my 2 nieces over for most of the day and decided to get a fresh pizza. I think they're fussy eaters, don't like mushrooms for one, which I love, so I'll make sure they're hidden under cheese lol.

Need to buy eggs, cooking oil, cucumber, bread, skimmed milk, pure orange juice, cheese and the pizza.

Lynsey, read about the snow today, meant to say that the sledge is as dad's. He's desperate to have a go on it I think but I'm not sure I trust him with ds on it, he's getting a bit daft in his old age! Plus the hill he had planned is quite big compared to the tiny lump I let ds go on, and even that scared him lol.

BE - Enjoy your blissful sleep! Hope it doesn't collapse since you made it on your own lol.

Kirri - hope you didn't mean you was wanting those crisps so you could make a crisp sandwich with those buns????? _pale_
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Is a roll a bun up North?? Here a bun has fruit in, it's all quite confusing! I was going to have a cheese roll with crisps but had a plain cheese roll instead, didn't even have any salad to liven it up.

Where do the grommets go when they fall out? ^^

Well done BE, I got an ex round to put mine together lol. Couldn't be faffing with all those pieces myself!

Sometimes they're called that yeah, other times we like to get our baps out. :rotfl:

Loathe crisp sandwiches with a passion, they're the one thing that makes me feel ill at the thought, that and bacon sandwiches with butter on. Where's the vomit smiley??!

The grommets are tiny and they fall out naturally as the ear grows, or sometimes cos of infection etc. I'm guessing they go on the floor.. LOL. It was a bit worrying because the woman testing his hearing said she could see one. Went to see the specialist about 5 mins after and he said both were missing.

    Saucy. :D
BTW, I like crisps with sandwiches, not all the time, but now and again............for a treat. lol

Kirri - Rolls?? That's what we up North get chauffeured about in, especially to supermarkets to buy our "whoopsies". :rotfl:
Stotties or stottie cakes are traditionally eaten up here, they are our rolls/buns/baps etc.

Need to put another bread mix in now and not too sure of food today as away most of it. Maybe take some burgers out and just have burgers and onions........burger in a bun. Probably porridge again for breakfast, made with the reduced cream.

Dentist D-Day tomorrow...........if crown back from lab, I'll ring later as don't want to waste another journey!!

    Morning all!!

We ended up eating burgers for dinner last night, so still have chicken breast to use up today - think i will end up doing a caserole, as struggling for inspiration when it comes to cooking them!

Still clearing a good portion in the freezer, will have to do a shop tomorrow though as we've pretty much run out of dinner options now. So aiming for lidl then sainsbobs for the bits lidl dont do, like pastry.

Got either 1 l/o burger for lunch or the rest of the quorn, think i'll have the burger and leave the quorn for tomorrow's dinner and get OH a steak when i am out.

Lynsey - blue cheese.....ewww..... hahah it does sound nice- but not something OH would go for - was actually considered getting one of those 'bake in the bag' packets and trying that with some jacket potatoes or something.

Made a big mistake in deciding to visit my my mother during Easter hols. Bratty kids everywhere (sorry parents yours are probably lovely). Decided to go for a long drive as sunny and ended up in the worst ASDA I've ever been in at Sovereign Harbour (nr Eastbourne).

There's a marina with very expensive looking boats and some apartments costing £1m and yet the retail park is ASDA, Matalan, Sports Direct and the like with a Harvester and a Simply Italian.

Did manage to get reduced salt Bisto gravy granules, fennel seeds and dried fenugreek leaves none of which are sold by local ASDA plus a nice blue cotton tshirt.

Called into Tesco on way back, got some of the 60p nets of Lactofree UHT triangular portions to leave at my mother's. In my family we all seem to drink different milks now !

    B - skipped
L - Budgens Classic bagged salad £1, Quorn chicken style slices, Budgens tzatziki, Delphi avocado hummus dip (yummy), cucumber, beetroot
D - Gressingham quail from freezer, green salad

Train was delayed and by time I got home quail was a bit cindered !
