morning all, i was in lidl yesterday getting a washing line for my new house so i picked up some fruit/veg and 6 jars of curry sauce, these were 2 for£1 i don't usually use jars but we have some free cicken in our freezer and it's really tough and not a great texture, well i made cicken korma last night and it was lovely, even the kids loved it, theres some leftover i'm dying to eat but i have some homemade egg mayo to use up so todays meal plan is
breakfast- jam sandwichs and bananas for the kids (ds3 is muncing on blueberries and a plum at the moment aswell) i had a toasted egg mayo sandwich
Lunch- older 2 are at school, i'm having egg mayo pittas (reduced from the freezer) ds3 can choose what he'll have as he doesn't liek egg mayo, either noodles, pasta or a sandwich
dinner- gonna do a variation of a sausage pie, have somegammon that needs used so fried gammon, carrots, red onions (were 49p a bag on lidl) beans topped with mash.
i also got stuff to make my own yogurt as soon as my new slowcooker arrives, my local tesco don't do dried milk powder so i got it and a carton of uht while i was over that way. my spends have been quite low lately i've been using stuff up quite well it's just slow goingDEC GC £463.67/£450

Lip_Stick - your mam is more than welcome to help!!!
Some of the walls were coloured and it's taken 4 coats to cover the worst bits!!!! Getting there slowly, but help at the weekend with a "proper" painter to do the gloss. lol
NSD so far, but might just try Sainsbury's later as won't be putting anything in the freezer this weekend - maybe not though, might just soak away my aches in the bath!!!

Well today I made a start on the beef mountain that is stocked in my freezer and used 500g braising steak to make a beef and pearl barley which the kids HATED:rotfl:, c'est la vie.
But that used up the last of the pearl barley so they will never have to eat it again:D.
Think we need to eat a beef based meal every 2-3 days to get through my stash though:o.
So used from freezer 6/44.:j DEBT FREE FROM 01/01/11 :j

dinx, have only ever given pearl barley to the pets, the dog ate it but my pets won't - it's supposed to be good for bladder complaints though.. I am going to have to eat the rest of it myself, probably in a pearl barley risotto... can't say I fancy it though.
BE hope you are ok..
Well didn't eat from the freezer today, fancied some griddled aubergine in mint and spices with smoked cheese. Been out on the hunt for more local food and drink - I'm going off the supermarkets mass produced food totally. Would like to learn how to make sourdough bread next but it sounds complicated..0 -
I love pearl barley :rotfl: esp in lamb stew!
Got some whoopsied spring rolls & diced beef today. Did a batch cooking session & made four portions of the beef in black bean sauce.
Today I had a scone for breakfast, last of the chicken chow mein for lunch & lamb samosas with green tom chutney for tea.....oh & stopped off for a drink with a friend, so add a bottle of bulmers to that:T

hey all
smashed my cereal bowl at work so no porridge, had to buy toast and granola and yogurt instead.
didnt bring lunch as i had the last of the salmon yesterday, my friend got me a sandwich she works in the catering department and as i was working late i had the other sandwich for dinner.
all this talk of chow mein from the last page has helped me decide to make a pork chow mein on sat, need to use up 4 pork joints, will do it in the sc then finish in the oven on sunday, tomorrow im going to have the chilli i took out on wed, with some tortillas and dips, will have to but it which may take me over budget unless i get it from waitrose with a voucher.
dunno what to have for lunch or brekkie
even though im up late won 12.67 on sky bet so its all good.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Morning all.
Busy day ahead!!
Got to pick brother up and go shopping this morning and then the Dentist.....................and it's pay up time today...................unless I sneak out the back door!!!!
Afternoon, back to a little painting, but spending more time steaming carpets today, a break from painting!!!
Just toast and coffee for breakfast and snacks throughout the day, may just get a couple of cheese pasties from Lidl.
Nothing planned for tonight either, wish I had some pizzas, but NOT paying full price for them and I'll not get back until late, so possibly another bag of chips. A quick pasta meal would be an option with a Sacla sauce??
Still got 2 packs of Gala apples to use and 2 bags or oranges, probably just freeze the apples once cooked for apple crumbles and juice the oranges.
Trying just to tick-over until Tuesday with what I have, though 20 bars of chocolate tomorrow. lol
Got a little veg to use up, so need to sort something out for perhaps Sunday.
Not spent much this week on food, but petrol costs have been a lot higher...............you just can't win!!
Have a great day, weather looks pretty good.

Morning all.
Have a fairly busy day today catching up on house work, ironing and visiting my butcher of a dentist (at the correct time). Last night I ended up making mince beef cobbler which turned out fairly well, just needed a bit more liquid. Also managed to get some of the Wright's bread mix from Morrisons so will be giving that a try today in my breadmaker.
Might ask the folks if they'll have ds this evening instead of tomorrow night so I can get a bit more done.
Ds and I had scrambled egg for breakfast. There's a small bit of cobbler left which I'll have for lunch and if ds is at the folks I'll make a chilli or something for tea with the mince I browned off.
Pearl barley, isn't that in haggis? I like it in that, if it is lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
