VfM4meplse - wish we had markets up north like you have in London, they're so vibrant down there and although I don't like and couldn't live in London, there are some things worth visiting for and the markets are one of those.
Too busy though, I like my peace and tranquility............when I get it!!!

Just the 20 bars of chocolate to keep the energy levels up, if it had been just milk, then 30 bars. Just have 4 squares at a time..................yeah right!! ;)

It's a full house that needs sorting and tidying, every single room though!!!!! :(
    Hope the painter turns up.

    Morning all

Feeling a bit better after my dentist app. Still have a swollen gum tho where I got injected 3 times. At least I won't dribble at one side of my mouth if I go out in public now. :D

Not sure about meals today, or what I'll be doing. Was supposed to be meeting a friend tonight as it's her son's birthday but he's going to laser quest and ds is too young, which is a shame as he'd love it. She wanted me to meet at Maccy D's after it but I just can't afford it.

Got £30 to last me til next Tuesday which sounds a fair bit but I've electricity to get, window cleaner to pay plus other bits and pieces, but at least I've bought most of ds' birthday pressies, despite it being in over two months time lol.

I agree about the markets up north Lynsey, they're dire. Ours is a bit far out now as everything has shifted to the other end of the city centre. There's a building that's been empty for years that would be ideal for the market but the council just aren't bothered about reinventing it I guess.

VfM4meplse - Don't have ice cream in at all. Not a big fan but could have done with it last night lol. I do love London, one of the favourite cities I've been to in Europe. Thinking of taking ds down there for his birthday, already visited the natural history museum and science museum with him so not sure what else would be suitable for him.

Edwardia.. morning? at 1:16 am? lol. Never watched any of the Twilight stuff.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Thank you for posting that as I feel very much the same, it has been an education, an education in being frugal. It's really amazing what can be achieved with some effort.
We used to try a week with a budget of £20 just for a laugh and sometimes failed, but at the minute with the tips and tricks learned from both her and the coupon thread, it really is a new way of life!!
I really don't think I want to go back to "normal" shopping now, I want to get things as cheaply as possible all the time and I'm prepared to put in the effort.
You can still eat well cheaply, I know that now.

BTW - hope you are well.

    Lynsey

I feel exactly the same as you and Brighteyes. When things got really rough over the last couple of years I was so worried and thought I'd learnt every trick in the book to save money.
Knew nothing about couponing with offers and getting stuff for pence. Wish I had!

There's always something to learn, isn't there? Been on these boards years and I still feel like a total rooky some days and absolutely delighted when I find another trick I missed. :D

Off for a DIY trip to B&Q, all paid for via survey coupons naturally. :p
Then away to the supers for another coupon fest. DH enjoying it all as much as me and proudly telling his mates at work who are mystified what all the excitement is about. We're easy pleased. :rotfl:

Morning all! Crumpets and pot noodles were eaten out the stores last night (OH went out and came home a little tispy)

Not sure what to cook today, but will try and make do with what we've already got. Will be getting more WW meals from iceland though, as its the easiest way for me to count my points.

Have a great sunny day everyone!

OH was supposed to meet me at opticians but he's still at work in London on day off bah. There goes out the window pub lunch together :(

Saved £104 at Specsavers on glasses and prescription sunglasses and better service, much better than Boots .

So very pleased as now can just grab prescription sunglasses instead of having to put contact lenses in to be able to wear sunglasses. The prob with those Reactolite/Transitions things is they work on temperature. Not good when you open freezer and then can't see !

Ended up doing stir fry for self with frozen cooked mussels (Morrisons) wrinkly cherry toms, green pepper (Lidl), a tad too much Harissa <cough> (Morrisons) and Tesco Value button mushrooms plus big dollop Total Greek yogurt.. this varies wildly in price at ASDA, Sainsbury's and Morrisons.

    NSD as sunglasses already paid

Back early, painter wanted to finish early and we had to drop him off, got quite a bit done though and only 3 or 4 days left................thank God!!

Went to Lidl early and got:

    20 x chocolate - £4.40
Quiche (cheese and onion) - £1.19
Cheap ham (for sandwiches) - £1.89
    2 x peanut bars (fake Snickers) - 50p

    Lidl total = £7.98

Popped into B&M's for some cloths and bought:

    4 x Walker (mystery flavour) crisps - 40p
Natures Finest fruit trio (1 kg low date) - 49p

    B&M food total = 89p

    Total food spend = £8.87

Nothing put in freezer this week and not much taken out, due to being away most of the week and spends have just been day to day sandwiches/pasties/biscuits etc.

Minestrone is almost made and that's for tonight and tomorrow.

Need to clean this laptop keyboard, got a few sticky keys, so sorry for any spelling/missed letters issues. lol

Half an hour break and then sorting clothes out for next Tuesday, probably need an umbrella knowing my luck!!! They've (Algarve) hardly had any rain for almost 3 months and are desperate for a few down-pours, please wait until I've left though. :D

great shop at asda this morning. stocked up on what we needed and managed to spend just £7.85 as the lovely lad took £20 of coupons from me - result!

Then spent £3 on 4 x 2litre milk for the week and that is it!

Tonights dinner for the kids is chicken tikka masala with chick peas and cauliflower that I made last week and froze in batches with naan from the freezer and rice from the big bag we got on offer ages ago.

We are having homemade chilli with mince from the freezer (prob was reduced lol), loadsa veggies, rice and baguette from Mr A this morning. Looking forward to that!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

    Hello all,

Everyone's sounding very busy. I'm having a quiet day. Bad back. Slept funny the last couple of nights I think.

I made a freezer quiche. Ready made patched up puff pastry (which the cat licked a hole in while I was waiting for the spinach to defrost), defrosted spinach, defrosted last bits of cheddar, half a red onion, mozarella, three eggs, milk, seasoning. How easy and filling (and cheap)!

Hopefully I'll have cleared enough space for my delivery of cheddar, bacon and proper sausages on Thursday or Friday. Not bargains, but they should last about three months when used sparingly :D

Still off the alcohol for Lent, so amazed at how much that saves, even though wine is relatively cheap here. I decided not to buy any more sodas but to replace them with good quality fruit juice diluted with fizzy water. Yum.

I'm still looking for an equivalent site to MSE (doubt it exists) in French.

Back to the drawing board. :j
