Went to Morries early as I decided I didn't want any pies or bread and spent another £3.16.
The carrots left for 50p weren't very good and were dismissed.

Chunky KitKats (special treat) - £1.59
Ambrosia custard (half price) - 42p
    Vitalite £1 minus 30p coupon - 70p
    Trout fillet - 15p
    2 x packs whiting fillets15p each - 30p

Gave trout fillet to neighbour as she likes trout - I'm so kind. lol
Whiting fillets will do for more fishcakes.

Total weeks spend = £19.77 and very happy as 3 NSD's

A tad under £70 to last until the end of March and I'm away for 4 nights/5 days from 27th, not sure if I told you Lip_Stick. :D

Freezers full yet again, top heavy on fish and prawns and need to put a couple of pork chops in freezer and leaving 2 for tomorrow, either grilled with peas, sweetcorn and H/M chips or a casserole (without carrots). Probably just grill them.

Pizza dough was OK, just slightly too much and will adjust next time. Quantities OK though and very elastic/stretchy.

*Puts on a French accent* With those trout fillets, you are really spoiling them. ;)

Nice thing for you to do, thoughtful, doesn't matter how much they cost. Did you get any cheap skate?? Sorry!!!! :D Great fishy bargains you got tho.

I feel like I need to buy loads, definitely toilet roll as down to the last one and it's half gone. I think ds is eating it! Plus my freezer is looking a bit empty, well the two smallest drawers are lol.

Next week I need to buy a few essentials like milk but also things for the journey down there. Hot drinks are served on the coach, as well as bacon and sausage sandwiches and toasties, plus a few other bits but I'd like something a bit healthier. I'm going to put my thinking cap on as I'd like something that makes the least mess if ds is sick lol.

27th for your hol is coming quick eh! Bet you can't wait.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

    ^ Good bargains there!

    NSD today :T
Had the leftover salmon & spinach w/pasta for dinner. Breakfast/lunch was a round of toast & some oat & honey biscuits. The latter will be gone before I know it, far too yummy but heavy on the calories  so won't be buying again.

Out for lunch tomorrow, my brother's coming round but not sure where we are going to go yet. Was eyeing up a noodle bar I'd liked the look of, but it's closed on sundays

Flatmate said I wasn't like other people, because I cook from scratch...apparently she thinks that is strange?! The way she said it came across as though she thought I was weird...guess I should point her towards this website..

  • DD has invited me for Sunday lunch and as its my birthday on Monday, I will have a cake. YIPEE. Had some stuff out of freezer today which was about 3 yrs old, not bril but it did, there's only me and I know I am having roast beef tomorrow. Freezer still have lots in but they are sort of flattened out so that means they are not so full. DD and family are going to Disney in August so look forward to hearing how you get on. They went to Asterix Park last summer which they enjoyed.

Cooked two curries today - one for us and one for the kids.

Kids - tikka masala with chicken, cauliflower and mixed beans, tomatoes with rice and naan bread

Us - Chicken and prawn balti with peppers, courgetter, onion and mushroom with rice and naan and aloo saag

Used chicken breast, prawns & cauli from the freezer, the rest from stores and fridge. Best is that we now have ten more meals going back into the freezer as quickies for busy days - two portions of kids curries (3 meals each) and two portions of ours (4 meals) so that will help me out a bit!

Only spent £3 on milk and £4.25 in asda on pop, frozen cauli, frozen mash (25p per bag!!), cereal, yogurt inc the paper today so happy with that!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

As the o/p to this thread, I seriously need to cut back on my food shopping. I forget to look in the freezer.

Just be buying f&v, yoghurts, crumpets, bread and milk now.

My house stinks of burnt butter, oil and fish eww

OH decided to cook verry late lunch that was more lundinn than lunch - Cornish lemon soles from the freezer (still on offer from Morrisons).

I was alerted to the impending culinary disaster by the smell of burning extra virgin olive oil.

When fish was plonked on my plate it had very crispy skin but was raw in the middle. I had to do some surgery and create fillets and then hand them back over to The Husband for him to finish.

OH puts the gas on just way too high and I'm trying tactfully to tell him that basically sole is not steak and he should be gentle while he mutters and burns the butter because he didn't add any oil.

Result = disintegrated Corrnish sole fillets with an inadvertent black butter sauce and a possibly ruined Le Creuset frying pan :(

OH then sulked until we watched his new Steven Seagal DVD..men !!
