    Actually enjoyed my dinner today!

Bought some peri peri Linda M burgers on offer in Morries today, 92p for 2, thought was still a bit expensive for my miniscule budget and a bit processed.. but they were lovely! Had 1 as quite big, on fresh hm bread with sliced cheddar, allotment shallot, shredded lettuce/sliced toms borrowed from the pets food box, with some allotment pink fir potato wedges and mayo.

Feel bit guilty over my extra purchase as still have the swede, a cold hm pasty, the strange satay sauce, a box of fresh made passata and 2kg of pumpkin sat in the fridge that all needs using quick (freezer full).

Ho hum back to the grind tomorrow..

Lynsey - where are the vouchers for the free fairy liquid? I have looked on the coupon thread and can't find it. could you point me in the right direction?
It's via the Facebook link I posted Jane, you need to post tips, ask questions, thank others and do lists etc and you earn lots and lots of £1 coupons. Select the household ones for Tesco and get the free Fairy and Flash ones. Loads of others - fill ya boots.

£2.21 spend on food at Sainsburys tonight, 4 pints of milk @ £1.18, a natural yoghurt for 5p and 2 packs of trout fillets for 49p per pack.

Non budget - 3 Fairy Liquid for 25p each using 3 coupons.

    Evening all

Had a NSD today - about time I had one! Decided not to bother with Asda, will probably go tomorrow. Had the haggis for tea and also made a parsnip soup with onion and carrot for tomorrow's tea. Tastes really nice. I wanted to add a load of spice but better not as ds won't be impressed. Will add that after I've served his. I've some lovely tear and share bread to go with it too.

Kirri those piri piri burgers sound nice, will have to try those.

Thanks for the info about the coupons Lynsey - You going to disney too?

This is a great recipe if you have the spices for it: http://showmethecurry.com/subzis-vegetables/butternut-squash-with-black-chickpeas-subzi-kumro-chokka.html . Tinned black chickpeas are just as good as cooking your own. ETA: I've just reviewed the recipe online, and would strongly recommend that you do not add sugar to it!

The last time I made a chickpea curry I added butternut squash, although I made enough to fill my 4.5L pressure cooker it was eaten so quickly there was nothing to freeze :o.

Thank you, looks very interesting, I think I have all the spices, except maybe the fenugreek. I've never heard of black chickpeas though??

They're just as tasty as ordinary chickpeas, but a lot smaller. It's much easier to buy the tinned version, rinse and drain for this recipe. Next time you pass by an ethnic supermarket, it would be worth stocking up (other brands are just as good).

^ thanks for the pic, I've never seen those. I'll have a look in Morries world foods aisle as they have started catering more for the ethnic market recently (they now do huge sacks of rice etc) or Asda who stock even more variety. I'm a bus ride away from any ethnic supermarkets so don't tend to go past them very often.

I do tend to buy tinned when getting chickpeas as they are a bit of a faff from dried. I grew soya beans this year but haven't even tried cooking them yet for the same reason!
