Lol you should suggest the name too.
It would fit well alongside their fruit and veg offers anyway, I'll give them a while so they don't think it's a conspiracy and suggest it as well0 -
Just had amazing pheasant stew cooked by OH for three hours using pheasant from freezer bought from Foodari and veg bought with coupons printed off from Tesco0

Back to Lidl again and I didn't know that they have a recipes page on their website, lots of recipes from different countries and some veggie ones.
I'll have a better look tomorrow.

^^ just wondering re price difference, do Lidl/Aldi source their meat from abroad??
Yes Aldi and Lidl both use british meat, although some of their frozen meat is not british, but it is all clearly labelled so no real problem if you only (like me) want to buy british.
I am soooooo fed up at the moment because I used three whole packs (3 for a tenner) of stewing beef from Tesco's to make a bourginion type stew for tonight's tea as my sister and friend were coming. They cried off and then when I took the casserole out after nearly 4 hours the meat was like shoe leather, PLUS it had a horrible really strong taste!! I have the packaging and am thinking of returning it to the store tomorrow as it was so unpleasant! So, we ended up having fish fingers oven chips and bread and butter for tea, plus a slice of banana cake which I made using some very spotty bananas. Wasn't bad but elder daughter went to McDonalds in protest!!
I have been giving loads of thought to going veggie for quite a few months now and I really think I might give it a try. I do like meat, but other than bacon (which I LOVE) I wouldn't really miss it. I love beans, pulses, cheese, eggs - the only thing I can't eat is Quorn as I am allergic to it - don't know why because I am not allergic to mushrooms but I have a horrible reaction if I eat it (all swelled up and blotchy). I might eat nice fish from time to time, but meat I wouldn't miss. I love vegetables of all kinds so I would get all my vitamins. Big problem would be the kids.
I have found that my home made bread is much nicer using the Carr's or Allinsons flour - the Tesco one seems to make a much heavier loaf.Jane

Morning all!
Edwardia, Tesco veg coupons? Tell me more!
Re: recommending Lidl do a veggie offer. I think thats a brilliant idea (even though we wouldnt be able to take advantage of it, having no Lidl!) I think a lot of people would be surprised just how many people are veggie nowadays. I was veggie myself for a long time and my 6ft tall, big strapping lad of a Husband has been veggie for 21 years, people always seem surprised when they find out, as if veg and grain couldn't possibly sustain himA lot of my friends now do 'meat free Mondays' even if they were confirmed carnivores of the 'it's not a meal without meat' types before, it makes sense for both pocket and for health
I think Lidl would attract a lot of new shoppers if they did a weekly offer, it could also be a way for veggies who have a limited diet to broaden their horizons, try tofu for example.
A busy week for me last week so I wasn't around much. Today is the start of our half term and we have days out planned, my youngest one turns two on Friday so are having a tea party for him then and a trip to the wildlife park on Saturday. I've done pretty well at running stocks down over the last week. The children have had cereal and yogs. Lunch will be soup and sandwiches for them, scrambled eggs with sauteed mushrooms for me. Dinner is Vegetable madras for husband, chicken korma and rice for the children and I'm having Thai chilli beef (all home made).0 -

Ooh thank you, some nice recipes on there, particularly like the fish with peaches.
Getting through the crumpets stash, and had whoopsied lamb samosas from the freezer yesterday, with homemade green tomato chutney. Yum.0 -
Morning.
Had toasted hot cross buns for breakfast (Tesco 50p offer and nice) and out shopping for brother today, so just snacking and probably jacket potatoes later.
Pancake day tomorrow. lol
We've been invited out on Wednesday for lunch as a treat for the help we give my brother, so not much needed that day. We are going to hammer the couponing on Wednesday also as hubby is off, loads of free stuff and near free stuff - stocking up on stuff I've already got too much of. :rotfl:
I think I'll make up another hamper of household and toiletry items to send to son!
Catch up later.

RS, you could try Cauldron foods which are quite widely available in the supermarkets, they do sausages and stuff that are nice. Or Redwood Foods but they are harder to find - veg cooking is more work than just sticking a bit of meat on I found, so it's useful to have some easy items every now and again if you did go over, though guess it depends how much you experiment already. I never used to that much so had to learn a whole new way to cook and a load of new ingredients I had to start eating! Or just start incorporating meals gradually so the kids get used to things, I think a lot of meat eaters have more veg meals now - are they old enough to get their own if they want meat? (I used to buy food for at home if I wanted different/strange things!)
Breakfast - have one slice of bread left so that will be breakfast...
Lunch - nothing planned yet/need to make something
Dinner - will have to eat up the rest of the strange satay sauce and tofu/celery that I had last night. I have another tin of the coconut cream in still that I have to find a use for - that is just in date though still, Mar 2012 so I have time to think..
Need to make bread today, might put that on now so I can at least have lunch! Can't decide between normal bread or fruit bread.0 -
