failing this challenge badly, i need a how much can you force in your freezer challenge

I've done that too. The whoopsies are too tempting so now i send my son for the milk, fresh veg etc (he's more disciplined than me!)

My partner has his own place and has a fridge/freezer, an upright freezer and a chest freezer. Guess what i'll be doing today!! Yep, stocktaking the freezers. Already done the fridge freezer and had to chuck a fair bit out but he's got enough food left in that one for at least a week for him and his kids.

One down, 2 to go!!! Wish me luck

A man with 3 freezers? I thought it was just women who stocked up!!

Gailey, know just what you mean ref yorkies. told my ex that if he wanted them like his mum made, he would have to get her to make em. after div i didnt make for many years but saw Brian Turner and found following rec. I redice quantities for me (only need a couple) and have had sucess. I find the frozen ones - and frozen roasties - are no good at all.
    Yorkshire pudding
    1 large cup plain flour
    pinch of salt
    1 large cup eggs
1 large cup milk and water mixed
    1 tbsp malt vinegar

For the Yorkshire pudding batter, sieve the flour and salt into a large bowl. Add the eggs and beat well with half the liquid until all the lumps have disappeared. Add the rest of the liquid and the vinegar, and allow to stand.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven well to 200C.

you this would work minus the vinigar as hate vinigar?

    what temp?
    how lond batter stand?
    how long they bake for?
    in muffin tins greased?

at xmas hubby had his works party at tobery carvery they had massive yorkie puds. Or course none of thsi on my diet!:rotfl:.

what im unsure of in current climate is it best to have

more no spend days and avoid shops

or shop every week or every day even for whoppies and offers as each shop offers run limited and different times from each other and whoppsies luck of draw sometimes nothing sometimes loads!

    got value washing powder yesterday
got 1tub of butter left after baking so enough for the week.
we have enough ham and cheese for the week.
we have mince and beef in freezer
    1reduced pizza
    2breaded chicken fillets
    half bag oven chips
    frozen veg.

    got to restock on

    eggs
    tinned tomatoes
    pasta
    passatta
    fresh tomatoes
fruit as last 2apples not looking appealing might stew and make a crumble.

we have enough junk as in

    biscuits
    crisps
choc even left over from party

so that makes packed lunches easy next week as have loads reduced rolls in freezer but we short on loaves and need crumpets.

After making about 50fairy cakes, 1birthday cake and 1valentines cake need a break from baking costs a fortune just in sugar, butter and eggs!

will chuck pork belly in freezer for next sunday.

my aim this week is buy as little as possible as spent £93 in waitrose and about £50 at least elsewhere in other food shops £27 co-op mostly reduced, hubby spent £20 sainsburys but that was party so think will link to part budget rather than food budget.
    pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Once again my using up the freezer has been derailed by finding a bargain:o L*dl was selling the last of their frozen Christmas geese for £9.99 down from £17.99 so ended up giving in to temptation. I took a biggish prok joint out for tonight and the goose went striaght into the empty space:o
Still, we had HM pizza last night and I used half a jar of s*cla sun dried tomato pesto instead of tomato paste/sauce and some more of the cheap chorizo. I now just need to use the other half of the jar... any suggestions welcome.

    Fab bargain though :T

Saved by this website, needed toothpaste & came home yesterday to a free aquafresh sample, so didn't need to go to tesco & be tempted :D

Just need milk tomorrow, determined not to get anything else, and to stop me buying more, I'm just taking my £2 tesco voucher. That'll pay for my milk (it's lactofree unfortunately, so pricey) with about 70p left over, and they don't do fantastic whoopsies so won't be able to buy an awful lot more ;)

You need to sign him up to this site lol, it's not so bad if he uses the food but if you've had to throw it away from a freezer it must have been there a while!

Did you get the free Oral B and Sensodyne ones too? I keep getting so many samples I've not used the ones I bought!!

He uses this site via me. I pass on tips and put plans into action. He just needs to carry them through when i'm not around. He's definately improving but there's always scope for further development! :rotfl:
Well that's all 3 freezers stocktaken and lists typed up. OH has a large load of chicken pieces defrosting to cook for the weeks lunchboxes and a casserole or 2.

  • That is definitely true what you say about eating healthily. At first I was super healthy but now, even though I am used to smaller portions, I have found that I will tend to go for more "snacky" food which is probably why my weight loss has stalled. I need to get making some soups again - I always lose weight eating home made soup!! I also need to use up the individually portioned healthy casseroley type meals I have in the freezer - there are about 20 of them!

HM soups are excellent, aren't they? :) So cheap to make, especially with the reduced veg bargains and offer priced veg.

Heartburn? Tell me about it. Can't wait to get back to eating properly this week as the hearburn disappears over night miraculously. It's been killing me of late and the antacids upset my stomach (plus they cost a bomb!)

Will have to update my sig as spent a massive £24.78 stocking up today. Did get masses of reduced fruit and veg and got enough of the 30p morrisons potatoes to fill my sack. :T
Cheese reduced too so got 1kg for the freezer for next few weeks. Also got the loo rolls for the month.

    All stocked up now. :D

    Afternnon.
Popped into Sainsburys as I had a coupon for some Fairy liquid and bought 2 packs of finger buns for 5p per pack, give them to the birds.
So 10p spent, I wasn't going to buy them to have a NSD, but the birds are worth it - they are eating them now! They have seed and fatballs, but still go first for the bread.

Gailey, yes the coriander was bought from a large Tesco.
It was a Fire Bowl I bought, only a small one - bit like a cross between a small fire and a large candle. lol

Great to see others seeing this challenge as a money saving exercise, I've been much more frugal this year and hope to save, save, save.
Agree with Jane, once you cut down your portions, you get used to it. We very, very rarely have a 3 course meal now, often just a single meal. You don't really need to stuff your face everyday, but you can get used to it.

Just glimpsed over and will fully read back with a coffee.

    Had a strange dinner..

Used the out of date (by a year) coconut cream (recipe needed coconut milk though), with out of date peanuts ground down with out of date goan paste, plus spoonful of sugar and chilli. Didn't have a lime. Recipe is lovely with the right ingredients, with what I had it wasn't.... had it with celery, pepper and tofu and naan bread. All in all a bit weird. Typically I have enough sauce for another meal tomorrow..

The next things to use this week are the swede and the potatoes - but don't really have anything to go with them.
